They are orange, real-life flying squirrel-like creatures with brown limbs, beady eyes, red nose and a mouth showing two teeth. They also have orange membranes attached to their hands and cream-colored hindhead and belly.
History
New Super Mario Bros. U
Flying Squirrels are introduced in New Super Mario Bros. U, where they are rather common enemies, mainly in Acorn Plains and sky levels. Sometimes, they are seen running, however, most of them glide from side to side. Some are also seen clinging to walls.
Flying Squirrels can also carry Super Acorns and drop them if they are defeated.
