One of the more annoying traps Mario encountered in Super Mario Bros. 3 was the Roto-Disc. Though not technically living creatures, the Roto-Disc still posed a hazard to Mario. While Mario could safely stand on the ball, touching the Roto-Disc would hurt him. Sometimes they would come in pairs as well. The only way to eliminate a Roto-Disc was to Jump on it while in Statue Mario form, only possible with a Tanooki Suit. There can be two sharing the same sphere and they were not affected by fire. They're usually positioned so that a small passage will become a death trap if you don't time your moves.
