The juice serves essentially the same function as the water that [[F.L.U.D.D.]] sprays, though the juice can also wash away [[Graffiti#Forcefield|Forcefields]] and turn certain [[List of enemies|enemies]] into [[Yoshi Platform]]s, while water cannot. Juice can only be used by [[Mario]] while he is riding a Yoshi. While a Yoshi is being ridden, the meter in the lower right corner of the screen changes from a tank showing how much water F.L.U.D.D. has left to a stomach-shaped icon showing how much juice the Yoshi has left. The juice meter depletes as the Yoshi sprays it, and will drain over time as well; if it fully runs out, the Yoshi will turn green and begin to flicker for a few seconds before vanishing altogether; during this time, it can only spit water instead of juice. The juice can easily be fully replenished at any time by having the Yoshi consume any type of fruit. The color of the juice varies depending on the color of the Yoshi that Mario is riding, which is affected by the type of fruit that the Yoshi has last eaten. [[Papaya]]s and [[pineapple]]s make the juice orange, which turns enemies into orange stationary platforms; [[banana]]s and [[coconut]]s make the juice pink, which turns enemies into pink ascending platforms, and [[durian]]s and [[pepper]] make the juice purple, which turns enemies into purple forward-moving platforms. All three types of platforms disappear after a short amount of time.
