When Wendy is fought aboard her [[airship]] in {{world-link|3|airship3|World 3-Airship (Super Mario Bros. 3)}}, she shoots candy rings at [[Mario]] or [[Luigi]]; Wendy creates one at the beginning of the fight, and she creates another after each [[stomp]]. Up to three candy rings can be onscreen at once; unlike [[Koopalings|her brothers']] magic blasts, they do not leave the arena, instead bouncing off the walls, ceiling, and floor at right angles. The candy rings disappear only when she is defeated. They are named "candy rings" in this appearance for their red and white stripes, much like a candy cane.


Candy Rings were first seen in ''[[Super Mario Bros. 3]]'', where Wendy attempts to shoot them at [[Mario]]. They later reappear in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga]]'', where they were able to expand and squeeze Mario and [[Luigi]]. They once again return in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]'' where they function the same way as in ''Super Mario Bros. 3''. However, they changed colors from red and white to yellow. Her characteristic ring bracelets were also implied in ''New Super Mario Bros U'' to be Candy Rings, due to their behaving in a similar manner to them when she throws them.
