When attacking, Claymorton shakes his head. Like the other members of the Smithy Gang, Claymorton is modeled after a weapon (in his case, a shortsword). He was originally named after the song "{{wp|Mack the Knife}}" (originally "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer" in German). His current name is a portmanteau on "claymore," a kind of sword, and the male given names "Clayton" and "Morton."
