'''O'Chunks''' is one of the main villains in the game ''[[Super Paper Mario]]'' and a minion of [[Count Bleck]]. He is fought a total of four times in the game, making him the most encountered boss in the game. He speaks with an exaggerated Scottish accent and his bushy ginger beard and eagerness to brawl are both Scottish stereotypes. However, the fact that his name begins with "O'" is an Irish tradition. Other translations use the Scottish patronym "Mc" instead. In the Italian version, he has a stereotypical Roman accent, and in the Spanish version, he speaks with a strong Andalusian accent. According to [[The InterNed]], his theme is called "O'Chunks, Warrior", and his battle theme is "Ready, GO!"

O'Chunks was once the general of an army from a certain land (the name of which is not mentioned). He was able to successfully lead a squadron of one thousand troops across enemy lines. Unfortunately for him, one of his advisors sold him out and all of his men fell to enemy forces as a result. Count Bleck may have played upon his shame and depression to enlist him into his service, given that [[Carson]] claimed that Bleck made O'Chunks feel gradually worse until he finally pledged allegiance to Count Bleck, though he legitimately appreciates his loyalty.

If O'Chunks grabs [[Princess Peach|Peach]], he merely tosses her without performing his spinning and victory poses, the attack deals less damage to her than to Mario and Bowser, and he does not attack until she recovers.<ref>https://twitter.com/mariobrothblog/status/1457741926640332805?s=21</ref>

However, it is later revealed that he (along with Bowser) survived the cave in because [[Bowser]]'s weight caused the floor to collapse as well, and they both fell downward unharmed. In addition, O'Chunks also learned from Nastasia about Dimentio's treachery, and also learned from her where Bleck was most likely to be imprisoned. Later, [[Mimi]] takes him with her to [[Dimension D]] to assist Count Bleck. He and Mimi give the Count and [[Tippi]] enough hope to restore the [[Pure Heart]]s, thereby helping to defeat [[Super Dimentio]]. Following Dimentio's defeat and the worlds saved from destruction, he ends up of Flipside Tower along with Mimi, Nastasia, and the heroes. With Bleck gone, he and the Count's other minions decide to forfill his previous goal: creating the perfect world that he promised them.  

In ''[[Super Mario-kun]]'', O'Chunks appears only in the second chapter of the ''Super Paper Mario'' arc in volume 37. While Mario is watching the prices for [[Bestovius]]'s technics, O'Chunks arrives and present himself as Count Bleck's minion. While crushing a rock with just one hand, he demands Mario to tell him if he is the hero. Terrified, Mario responds that he is a windmill, causing O'Chunks to get mad for being lied to, saying he can recognize a windmill and knows that the hero has a red cap (which Mario tries to dye in a different color). While Mario is being attacked by O'Chunks, Tippi pleads Bestovius to help him, who grants Mario the Flip ability, which is proven useless in the manga world. [[Thoreau]] comes to Mario's aid, admires Mario's determination to not give up, and grabs O'Chunks and tosses him down to the ground. With O'Chunks legs popping out of the ground, Mario manages to defeat him. O'Chunks then cries, saying that he did not want to be a villain in the first place, saying that he always wanted to be a hero. Feeling bad for him, Mario gives to him his hat telling him that "now he can be the hero," then proceeds to give him a big syringe on the head as revenge for the beating. In the next chapter, Nastasia reveals that O'Chunks resigned himself from Bleck's army.

O'Chunks appears as a collectable [[Sticker (Super Smash Bros. Brawl)|sticker]] in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]''. It increases launch resistance by thirty-five.

O'Chunks has the proportions of a gorilla, featuring long, muscular arms and a broad chest with shorter legs. He also sports a bristly beard and wears what appears to be leather armor over his chest and legs and red cuffs similar to [[Bowser]]'s on his wrists. Overall, he is vaguely humanoid, but is still styled like other characters in the game, being made up of several shapes.

O'Chunks is rather dimwitted and also has an eagerness to fight. He is very loyal to Count Bleck and will do anything to prove himself. He is shown to love Nastasia, and while she does not spurn his affection, she is in love with her boss instead. He is also shown to have a sense of honor, shown when he holds up the falling ceiling in Castle Bleck to save the heroes. O'Chunks is sometimes slow to comprehend things, such as when it took him a bit to realize that the Hero of Light was Count Bleck's enemy. When brainwashed by [[Dimentio]], he becomes very zombie-like and can only shout out the names of vegetables. Whenever Mario is thrown by O'Chunks, he makes one of several boasting gestures towards him, surrounded by a red and black burst, suggesting that he is a show-off.

 

As stated above, if the player decides to face O’Chunks as Peach during his second fight, then he will not treat her as roughly, suggesting that he has a more chivalrous side.
