Crater Crawl is a 4-player and duel mini-game coming from Mario Party DS. Players must climb up inside of an erupting volcano while they avoid large pillars of lava jumping out at them. When an area of the lava bubbles, that area will erupt with lava. Players may also repeatedly press the A button to climb above other players so they can get around them. The ones who get out of the volcano are the winners. However, if player(s) have been eliminated by the lava, and there is only one remaining, that one will win.

The players must climb up to get out of an erupting volcano while they avoid large pillars of lava jumping out at them. When an area of the lava bubbles, it signifies that that area will soon shoot a pillar of lava out. Players can also repeatedly press ds to climb above other players so they can get around them. Any player the lava hits is eliminated. The longer at least two players survive, the faster the lava bubbles. The last player remaining, or the players who get out of the volcano, wins. If all the players are eliminated by the lava, the minigame ends in a tie.

Winning players are seen outside the volcano, doing their victory dances. The volcano is still erupting, with the lava in it flowing into a gap and having large amounts of smoke emitting from it.
