Cut from the Team is a luck-based Battle minigame in Mario Party 8. The name is an expression used when someone is removed from a team, e.g., in sports.

Introduction
Introduction
The four players will be on a stone tower-like thing in the middle of nowhere, and next to them is a little stand, with 10 wires in front of it.
The four players are shown on a mountain with a small stand and ten wires connected to it.

This game is almost all luck and little strategy is involved. There are ten wires, of which 3 are live wires, and 7 are dead. The players will go one by one on to the stand, snipping one wire at a time. Once they cut it, they will duck. If nothing happens, they will go back to the end of the line. If the line is live, they will be flung off, and the game will continue with the rest. Once 3 of them are gone, the last one is the winner. The game is almost similar to Bowser's Big Blast from Mario Party 2, due to the fact that the player had to choose a switch at random to prevent it from blowing up.
Players line up and take turns walking onto the stand and cutting one of the ten wires, three of which are "live." A player who cuts a dead wire is safe and moves to the back of the line. A player who cuts a "live" wire triggers a spring that launches them off the platform into the canyon, thus eliminating them. The minigame continues until one player remains, and that player wins.
