Item Balloons usually carry harmful or helpful [[item]]s ranging from [[coin]]s and [[extra life|extra lives]] to [[bomb (object)|bomb]]s and [[Needlenose]]s and/or [[Shy Guy]]s. Item Balloons drop the item or enemy they are holding when a [[Yoshi (species)|Yoshi]] goes under it (except in the case of 1-ups). A trio of Item Balloons also carry [[crate]]s together. They also help in the final battle against [[Baby Bowser]] by dropping [[Giant Egg]]s.
