HI, everyone! I'm your modest Statistics Manager, Tucayo, here with a brand new edition of '''Take Cover!''' After [[The_%27Shroom:Issue_123/Palette_Swap#Take_Cover.21|last month's]] special section, we will have a bit of a quieter edition this time, but I can guarantee the covers are still pretty good.

To get us started we have a song that was not as successful as this cover of it I am featuring; it's the {{wp|Skids (band)|Skids}}' 1978 single, ''{{wp|The Saints Are Coming}}''. Now, I don't blame you if you don't know this Scottish band; their best-known song is ''{{wp|Into the Valley}}'' and I admittedly had never heard it. The {{ShroomYoutube|ocbud8ilgok|original version}} for ''The Saints are Coming'' enjoyed moderate success 39 years ago, reaching #48 on the UK, but the song took on a second life after it was covered by {{wp|U2}} and {{wp|Green Day}} as a charity single following the devastating {{wp|Hurricane Katrina}}. Commercially, the song was a success, charting at #1 in nine countries and scoring a nomination at the {{wp|49th Annual Grammy Awards|2007 Grammy Awards}}, but the impact of the song went far beyond its sales or its nominations. During and after the Hurricane, the {{wp|Mercedes-Benz Superdome|Superdome}} served as a shelter for tens of thousands of people seeking refuge. The stadium itself sustained heavy damage as well, and the {{wp|New Orleans Saints}} played the entirety of the 2005 season on the road. The Superdome was eventually refurbished and reopened in time for the 2006 NFL season. Before the game, a 70,000-people sellout, U2, Green Day, and two local brass bands paid tribute to the people of New Orleans with a four-song set that included ''{{wp|Wake Me Up When September Ends}}'', ''{{wp|The House of the Rising Sun}}'', ''The Saints Are Coming'', and ''{{wp|Beautiful Day}}''; the performance was released online and all profits were donated to charity. This marked U2's second emotional performance after a national tragedy, both happening in the same stadium, with the first one being their touching {{ShroomYoutube|iBzdittT3c4|Superbowl Halftime Show}} after 9/11. To this day, the New Orleans Saints still play the song before all home games.

Up next we a suggestion made by {{User|Roserade}}, it's the marvelous {{wp|Lorde}} with her somber cover of {{wp|Tears for Fears}}' best-known song, ''{{wp|Everybody Wants to Rule the World}}''. First released in 1985 as the third single of their {{wp|Songs from the Big Chair|second album}}, the genre of the {{ShroomYoutube|aGCdLKXNF3w|original version}} is {{wp|New wave music|New Wave}}, with a sound that perfectly matched the decade; 28 years after this song became Tears for Fears' first number one song in the US, Lorde re-recorded it for the soundtrack of ''{{wp|The Hunger Games: Catching Fire}}'' (that's the second movie if you are not all that familiar with the franchise). Her version was later used in a wide array of trailers, from {{ShroomYoutube|Pk9ejAbzf3s|''Assassins Creed Unity''}} to {{wp|geGfn7EaOQg|''Homeland''}} and even {{wp|Formula 1}} commercials. It's no doubt a terrific version of a classic, and a proof that covers can totally change the mood of a song successfully.
