Subcon is the land of dreams which Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad must save in Super Mario Bros. 2. Subcon is ruled by the evil Wart. Since jumping doesn't work in Subcon, Mario and friends must throw Vegetables at enemies to defeat them. This game introduces Shy Guys, Bob-ombs, Birdo, Mouser, and other enemies.
Subcon also appears as a secret playable course on Super Smash Bros. Melee. To unlock it players had to collect the Pidgit or the Birdo trophy.
Trivia
The name Subcon is probably short for "subconscious," since it apparently only existed in Mario's dream.
