Mario and Luigi in Stardust Fields.

The Stardust Fields are the border region between the Beanbean Kingdom and the Mushroom Kingdom. The place contains barrels and fallen stars. It is the home, or at least the guard post, of the Starshade Bros. This odd place is mostly in the Beanbean Kingdom, but a little bit is in the Mushroom Kingdom called the Beanbean Borderlands. The Beanbean Borderlands is the first place that Mario and Luigi visit when Bowser's Koopa Cruiser crashes, and Stardust Fields is the first major world of the game. The two sides are separated by the Border Bros., who are similar to Hammer Bros.. To cross the border, travelers must complete a round of jump rope. Mario and Luigi can also return to do the Border Jump again in exchange for Hee Beans. However, once the Mushroom Side is crossed, there is no turning back.

Once in the Beanbean Kingdom proper, Mario and Luigi met the large Tolstar. The Mario Bros. had to free Bowser from Tolstar's cannon. Tolstar agreed to release them if they give him 100 Beanbean Coins. The Mario Bros. had to go to the fields and search for more Beanbean Coins. They also learned a couple of Bros. Attacks from the Starshade Bros.. But Tolstar had scammed them, and then attacks the Bros. Once they win, the Starshade Bros. come back out, irritated by the noise of the battle. They light the cannon Bowser is in, and he goes flying off to unknown parts, later reappearing in Château de Chucklehuck.

The area is inhabited by Fighter Flies and Bill Blasters. Warp Pipe #1 is also found here.

Trivia

  • In the English version of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, the Mario Bros. meet the Starshade Bros. in Stardust Fields Area 64. In the Japanese version, they meet them in Area 51. This is a reference to the N64 and the secret military facility located in the southwest United States, respectively.
