New users are automatically welcomed immediately after creating their account through this system message, so it's no longer necessary to welcome them on their talk page. Because of this, and in order to cut down on the creation of unnecessary talk pages:
- Creating user talk pages for the sole purpose of welcoming new users (through the {{welcome}} template or otherwise) is prohibited.
That being said, you may welcome a new user if you're already creating their user talk page to get in touch with them for some other reason.
