Hot Air Balloons have appeared in a few Mario and Donkey Kong games. They made their first cameo in Super Mario World in the introduction where Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach ride a balloon to go to Dinosaur Land for a vacation. The balloons make another appearance in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, where Mario rescues Princess Peach. Mario and Peach escape in the balloon, but Luigi is unable to board prior to liftoff. Blue Toad and Yellow Toad then allow Luigi into their balloon, and they fly away to safety.
Hot Air Balloons also appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, in which they are helpful in letting the monkeys traverse across the lava pool. They only appear in Red Hot Ride in Diddy's Kong Quest, but they appear in another level, Fiery Furnace, in Donkey Kong Land 2 as well. The Hot Air Balloon also appeared in Test for the Best in Mario Party 8.
