In Polterpup Mode, the [[Luigi]]s must hunt down as many Polterpups as possible by using their [[Dark-Light Device]]s to see the footprints. Once a Polterpup has been located, he must be flashed with the Strobulb and vacuumed up. Each Polterpup has 50 HP, but Luigi can find a Big Polterpup, which has 100 HP.

| Polterpups are shown as white, slightly transparent canine-like ghosts. Polterpups' eyes are white and opaque, which makes them stand out against their transparent bodies. Unlike real dogs, Polterpups lack ears, thus their head is completely rounded. Polterpups wear collars with ID tags on the bottom of them; Polterpups in Scarescraper mode wear blue collars, while [[Polterpup (character)|the single Polterpup]] that appears during the Dark Moon Quest sports a red one.
