Hello, and welcome to the User Page of Leirin. You can just call me Lei for short, as I have used that monicker since I was in kindergarten. I am a big Mario fan, and (loyal) Nintendo fan in general. I contribute to this Wiki mainly through Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars articles (my personal favorite Mario game), Paper Mario series articles, and Super Smash Bros. articles. I am a member of the PipeProject for Smash Bros.

About Me
I am a big fan of Mario and I have been since I was 4 and a half! I had heard of this site via Google image searches for various Mario characters as a reference in the past, and decided to take a look around the Wiki. I found some things I wanted to edit/add, but realized I had to make an account first. Luckily for me, registration was easy and didn't require a truckload of personal information unlike most Wikis, so I joined! My favorite characters are Geno and Luigi and I enjoy writing as a passtime!
I like Mario RPG games and 3-D adventure games, and so I usually work (or aim to work) on articles relating to the two genres the most. I am also a Random Page Patroller! It's easy--just keep hitting the "Random page" button until you come across something you know about. If you have any information you can contribute, do it, then resume your random page patrolling!

I just felt like slapping these here for fun. They are quotes from real-life; none hail from the IRC channel or forums.

What not to do in an article!
Hi, and welcome to What not do do in an article!. I will give some examples of what you probably shouldn't do in an article, and give some tips on making your writing sound much nicer and more encyclopedic! Of course, this can all be found in their respective Help sections, but I felt like giving things a more personal view.
Biased viewpoint. It sounds dumb to say, "Dimentio is arguably the coolest Mario villain ever." You know why? Because it sounds biased! Biased means it shows things too much from one's view of the matter. Things like that should be outright omitted. However, something like "he's the hardest boss in the game" could just be turned into "he is often considered the hardest boss in the game".
Sound professional. Pretend you are no longer you. You are simply blending in with the writing style of the article. This sounds more professional, because it looks more like a professional, encyclopedia entry rather than something written by a fan. Contractions are sometimes allowed, but can't be abused, naturally.
Overly-exclamatory. This is something I noticed with the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door article. It uses too many exclamations, which sounds unencyclopedic. That writing is fine elsewhere, but tends to sound awkward here. Here's some examples of right and wrong:
- Weird: Now you can ride to the Glitz Pit!
- Good: Now you are free to ride to the Glitz Pit.
That's just a preference of mine, though. :P
Not a guide book. If we're talking about a boss character, their page will not consist of strategy like that of the kind you would find in a guide book. Instead, talk about the character themselves, stats, interactions, etc. While the Mario Wiki is supposed to be as inform you on the Mario series as much as possible, strategy is not something that (usually) belongs on Wiki's.
Good spelling and grammar. This is a no-brainer. Obviously, if you are a terrible speller and your grammar is bad, maybe writing for Wiki's isn't your thing. This, however, is something you'll have to learn on your own time!
I always have this rule. Don't use question marks if it's not from a quote!
