:::Things like "[Monster] attacked!" messages, choosing attacks and special moves are commonly found in a lot of RPGs, many of which existed before Pokémon. They're not exclusive to the Pokémon games. I don't hear the alleged remix btw, maybe someone else does though.--vellidragon 13:30, 25 February 2010 (EST)

::::I hear a remix. And so does some software I used. I put in the Pokémon Battle tune and the Underchomp Battle tune and it detected some sort of a match. 39% match it said. Mario Theme got 40%, and Mother/Earthbound battle got 14% LucariosAura (used to be specialk) 09:33, 28 February 2010 (EST)

:::::So, because it uses similar notes, it's a POKéMON reference ? The music itself is a mix of old-school musics and of the mini-boss theme. I played MOTHER, I played Dragon Warrior, and this is definitely a MOTHER reference (although MOTHER's battle system was itself inspirated from Dragon Warrior's). Really, the only true similarity is that both are turn-based. Koopalmier 00:50, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
::::::Using Piccolo to put the Underchomp to sleep reminded me of the Fairy Flute from Dragon Warrior 1, down to having do follow weird directions to acquire something useless in every battle in the game but one.  The only thing that looks more like MOTHER than Dragon Warrior in the sequence is the text box above and status bar below. I am Zero! Where is the Underchomp tattle? Couldn't you use Tippi in the battle? Zero signing out. Zero777

No you can't use Tippi in the battle. She is unavalible during the battle so you can't get a tattle. User:Tails777
Dashell
What does Dashell do during the fight? Does anybody know? If so, please let me know and add it to the page.
Not necessary anymore. I've already got it.<br/>--Zaimoon
Run away
The "successful" outcome needs adding to the page. It may only be a small chance of success, but it does let you run away occasionally. I'm nowhere near that part in the game, otherwise I'd check myself. Thanks! Avengah 05:10, 30 December 2011 (EST)
Pokemon reference
:The battle is most likely a pokemon reference, because you see your HP and level, you can use items, you can't dodge yorself by hitting buttons but sometimes you automatically dodge, sometimes attacks miss, you can switch characters, using piccolo is like a pokemon move called Sing, it says stuff like "Underchomp attacks!", you can run away but there is a chance you may fail, abilities like Bowser's fire breath are like Pokemon abilities and the Underchomp has an element (fire for the red and blue Underchomps and poison for the yellow one).M&amp;L  Beware my fury! 16:12, 28 January 2012 (EST)
It would more likely be a Mother reference (see above) due to the text box, the fact many RPG's use "___ attacks/attacked!", Sleeping, Dodging, Elements, Missing, Seeing your stats, techniques unique to characters and running are quite common among RPG's. The above Mother topic shows a lot of evidence of why it is more likely to be mother 3.

:It is most likely a Pokémon reference. The only thing not similar to Pokémon is you lose if just one of your characters is defeated. MarioKid (Talk) 12:46, 23 May 2016 (EDT)
Re: '3-headed'
Would that not mean the same as having three Chomps tied to one post? Or am I missing something (which I probably am?) Lord Grammaticus (talk) 02:45, 15 December 2013 (EST)
:It wouldn't mean the same. But the Underchomp really isn't a three-headed Chain Chomp, just three seperate Chain Chomps tied to the same post. If it was one entity, defeating just one head would kill the entire thing, but you have to defeat all 3, indicating they are 3 seperate entities tied to the same post. The post is just what they tie Chain Chomps too, they arre not part of the Chain Chomp itself. == Tiptron ==
Tiptron? You can get her after the game, and you battle Underchomp before the game ends, and you can never battle it again. Should we remove Tiptron? -
