Why does this page have a 'differences from the original' section and later a 'differences from Mario Kart 8' section? Isn't that redundant? I'd merge one section into the other but I wanted to check first if there was some reason for this. :It's pretty clearly redundant, from what I remember the "Differences from the original" section was made first, even before the game was released, while the "Differences from Mario Kart 8" section came later, after the release of the game. They now can be merged, provided that no information is lost in the process.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:49, February 10, 2021 (EST)
I think some CPUs use more then 4 Vehicles
I have read that Standard ATVs (along with possibly the Standard Kart, Standard Bike and a few other vehicles) are used by almost every CPU with some exceptions (Dry Bowser, the Inklings, Yoshi, Baby Daisy, Baby Peach, Toadette, and female Villager) for example Mario (who is not one of the listed CPUs who don’t use a Standard ATV) uses the standard ATV so shouldn’t they be included in the CPU combinations? Here’s the article on here that mentions this https://www.mariowiki.com/Standard_ATV --35.136.180.207
Breath of the Wild Link
This page erroneously states that the Breath of the Wild Link is simply an alternate costume for Link. this is in fact not true, the game actually considers it to be a separate character completely. CPUs may select both Link and Breath of the Wild Link (even at the same time) so it's hard to call it a simple alt costume for him. RSM, not who i used to be. 12:11, March 29, 2022 (EDT)
Stat charts
Out of curiosity, is there any way we could make a version of the stat charts for the characters, karts, etc a little easier to read and understand? While the information they give are relevant and accurate, I don't feel like it's very reader friendly. While I'm kinda speaking from personal experience right now (I'm not the strongest with math and such), it's also my opinion that the average person playing Mario Kart would be looking for a more simpler, straightforward way of figuring out the final stats for different kart combinations if they're looking for something specific (for example, a kart with high speed and handling specifically). I feel like, for the article itself, a easier to follow chart would be more useful while the in-game statistics that follow the more complicated means of calculating are good on the separate article. I could easily be wrong, as I can only speak for myself on this, but does anyone else find the charts hard to follow and use?
:You should first state the actual changes you're thinking about, before we can judge. The color coding right now shows the information you are talking about, only with a color scale that is friendly for the color blind people. Keep in mind that the game's UI this time shows the the internal stats in points, only with an odd scale and hiding a few stats.--Mister Wu (talk) 22:57, April 9, 2022 (EDT)
::I'm more or less talking about how the stats are shown in general. As it stands, everything is listed on a value of 0-5 (Dry Bones having a speed value of 2, using the example shown on the article), but I was thinking that, for the article itself, instead of having the 0-5 values, we instead use the values shown on the articles of the kart parts (for example, the Flame Rider's article lists that it lowers speed by 0.25). I feel that, for the Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe articles themselves, we use a decimal system that more closely reflects on how the in-game stat chart shows it; each character and vehicle customization part having their stat values read on a value out of 6 (Again, using the Flame Rider as an example: -0.25 in land speed, +0.25 for acceleration etc), while the in-game stat chart articles can be the place where the stat values are covered in a more detailed way. That way, we're not removing any necessary info, just simplifying it on a more commonly viewed article. I hope that makes sense, I was struggling to find a way to word all that.
Rivals Updated
Daisy's rivals use to be Waluigi and Peach but as of Wave 2 of the Booster Course Pass Daisy's only rival is now Waluigi. So that might mean some other rivals have been changed. 16:00, August 5, 2022 (EST)
:I had heard from someone on the Discord that when they (as Mario) raced Cat Peach and Baby Peach each replaced Peach as a rival on separate occasions. It is possible that the rival system has changed, but it's gonna be very hard to document the exact changes, I think. == Where to include Tour label error? ==
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Tour is incorrectly labelled as an original course. Was this on purpose, and if not, where should I put it? NintendoFan08 09:13, October 30, 2022 (EDT)
:It's on purpose. Merry Mountain also lacks the Tour label. They're passing the non-city <tt>mob</tt> courses as original courses in both Mario Kart Tour and the Booster Course Pass (and in the case of Sky-High Sundae, they also smartly released the course on the Booster Course Pass a few days prior its Mario Kart Tour debut).--Mister Wu (talk) 09:00, October 30, 2022 (EDT)
:Oh okay. Thank you for clearing that up. NintendoFan08 09:13, October 30, 2022 (EDT)
Question.
Are there any differences between the US & UK versions? SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) 18:28, February 03, 2023 (CST)
:US and UK versions do have different UI files but that's the extent of it. 21:50, February 3, 2023 (EST)
Character stats wave 4 update
I heard that some characters and kart parts got updated stats in the wave 4 update. If anybody who knows the new stats can update the stats tables it would be appreciated. Polterpup (talk) 02:08, March 9, 2023 (EST)
Roster images are bumping the character gallery off
On my monitor resolution (1920x1080), the images of the roster on the right side of the screen overlap slightly with the gallery, bumping Birdo to the second row of images and knocking every character after her off by one. Could someone implement a spacer to ensure this doesn't happen? 73.171.36.107 08:20, July 12, 2023 (EDT)
item probabilities
Unlike Mario Kart 8, this game has item probabilities based on a combination of placement and distance.  The only place I was able to find information about this was [this japanese site|http://japan-mk.blog.jp/mk8dx/note4/prob.html], maybe this could be linked to from here, or preferably it should get its own page on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe item probability distributions.
I created this account with the intention of doing that, but unfortunately my account seems to be too new to create/edit articles, so someone else will have to do it i guess.Binarycat
:You will be able to do that once you are autoconfirmed, which happens one week after your account was created and you've done at least ten edits in the meantime. 10:33, July 14, 2023 (EDT)
Wave 6 original order?
Would it be possible to add what we know of the Wave 6 original order in the Original order of Waves 3 to 5 section? It can mostly be assumed by context clues (i.e., Athens Dash and Vancouver Velocity are presumably in there since they aren't anywhere else, a blank slot that became Moonview Highway is in there, Maple Treeway was originally in there), but it would still be nice to visualize what exactly courses that were supposed to be in Wave 6 have been added already, and which slots still need to be filled. ==Wiggler's first appearance?==
It is written in the character section that "Wiggler and Kamek are playable for the first time in a home console Mario Kart installment." Wiggler was Playable in Mario Kart 7. Pleas fix? I don't know, this is my first time using a Wiki Talk page.Arson Raboot
:Hello! While you're correct that Mario Kart 7 is Wiggler's first appearance, section specifies "home console Mario Kart installment", which means consoles attached to a power outlet and a monitor display, such as the Gamecube, the Wii, the Nintendo 64, the Wii U, and Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 7 is on a handheld platform, on the other hand. We can debate about the why we need that particular qualifer, why we need the "home console part", but that's another topic. 21:02, September 1, 2023 (EDT)
Music Player Mode Incoming
Also included on the Japanese site topic is that there'll be a music player mode to listen to music from the courses in the new update. I wonder where we can add this info to the page? MarioComix (talk) 22:52, November 1, 2023 (EDT)
:Yes, that's true. It was put into the game in the 3.0.0 update, but that information has already been added to the Update History subpage. -- FanOfRosalina2007 (talk) 16:44, November 11, 2023 (EST)
Can someone please add the emblems for Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline and Peachette in the character section?
I just thought I would remind everybody about this especially since it’s been taking quite a long time to add them. So if anybody has the time please add them as I cannot do it myself  35.137.237.68 10:06 November 28 2023 (EDT)
:Polley001 has done this. Thank you for letting us know. 11:15, November 29, 2023 (EST)
"Inkling Girl" in character section should be renamed
The name changes depending on whether you're selecting inkling boy or girl. I think it would be more fitting to change the name to simply "inkling," so as to avoid confusion. 38.67.216.250 04:14, April 6, 2024 (EDT)
:Inkling Girl is the default appearance/name on the character selection, like how Link in his green tunic is his default appearance and how the male Villager is the default appearance. The other variants of all of these characters are listed in the section below. So to answer your request, no, it's best that Inkling's name is not changed as to match with other racers. 08:38, April 6, 2024 (EDT)
