Pokey Mummies are undead Pokeys that appear in Paper Mario. They "sleep" in sarcophagus that line the walls of some rooms in Dry Dry Ruins, but will emerge from them whenever Mario draws near. Despite their name, they do not resemble mummies. Aside from being teal in color and being able to poison Mario with their attacks, Pokey Mummies have identical attacking and moving animations to regular Pokeys.

|tattle=This is a Pokey Mummy. Pokey Mummies are Pokeys that dried out and became mummies then went to live in the ruins. Careful! They have spikes on their heads! Trust me--it'll hurt if you jump on 'em. The mummification also made 'em poisonous. If you get poisoned when they attack you, you'll take damage for a while. What do you say we beat 'em before they can poison us?

Pokey Mummies are undead Pokeys that appear in Paper Mario in coffins in the area Dry Dry Ruins. They closely resemble Poison Pokeys. Pokey Mummies also fight like Poison Pokeys, having the ability to poison Mario and his friends; nonetheless, the two are a different species. Although their resting places resemble coffins, there is a possibility that they are actually sarcophagi. The coffin has a face much like a Pokey Mummy itself. Besides its name, a Pokey Mummy does not resemble an actual mummy; it is not wrapped in bandages and does not have the physical appearance of the undead.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario, Poison Pokeys are their visual and functional equivalent, with the only real differences being that they are stronger than normal Pokeys due to being encountered later, and the lack of textual "Egyptian" theme.

BoxTop
*Pokey Mummies are the only enemies in Paper Mario that are palette-swaps of previously encountered enemies (Pokeys, in this case) to be found within the same chapter and have the same stats as their counterparts. Other alternatively-colored enemies, such as the Monty Moles found in Flower Fields and White Clubbas, are found in much later chapters and have higher stats.
