List of Glitches
From the Super Mario Wiki
This is a list of glitches that have appeared in the Mario series and its various sub-series. Glitches should be listed under the game they appear in.
[edit] Donkey Kong 64
[edit] Go Through the Mountain
In Jungle Japes, the player must go just outside the entrance to Funky's Armory with Diddy Kong. On the wall to the right there should be some flowers. If Diddy Kong aims his Chimpy Charge just to the left of the flowers, he should go right through the wall.
[edit] Below the Rotating Puzzle Room
With Donkey Kong, the player must go to the Rotating Puzzle Room in Crystal Caves. The player will have to make Donkey Kong Press the switch to the right of the room then jump into the wall. If done successfully, DK should end up under the room. If he walks away he will end up at the beginning of the world.
[edit] Under DK Island
The player will have to first monkeyport to the top of Crocodile Isle with Tiny Kong, and then blow her saxophone on the saxophone pad. A Chunky Barrel will appear. The player will have to change into Chunky Kong and jump into the barrel to become huge. Chunky will have to go to the two huge stone steps leading up the island. The player has to make him first go to the second step then fall to the first step while holding the control stick towards the second. Chunky Kong should be under DK Island. If he walks away, he'll start to swim. This glitch also leads to a couple other glitches.
[edit] The Secret Computer Room
The player should now swim under the waterfall. Then Chunky kong must swim to the green objects in the sky till he reaches the top of the water. The player must now make him swim around untill he disappears. The player will have to move the camera around untill appearing inside a room. Depending where he enters the room from, Chunky Kong might have have to jump onto the computers. Chunky kong will now be inside the secret computer room.
This room was used in the game for a cutscene, but was never meant to be playable. It can be accessed due to the model being stored under the island.
[edit] Bananaport Glitch
Randomly the colors on second bananaport on DK island may become disorented and standing on it for a while will freeze the game.
[edit] Donkey Kong Country
[edit] Camera Freeze
The player needs to go through Oil Drum Alley. Then the kongs should get Rambi who's in a hole by the middle gate. Then, Rambi needs to go backwards before the middle gate and the player will find a blast barrel below Rambi resting on an area. Then the player has to jump over the barrel area and drop Rambi with the A button. This will only work if the player lands back on the higher land with that jump. Then, the player could jump down and after some tries, DK will land on Rambi at the same time as the player lands in the barrel. This will freeze the camera, most of the time on the area where the player lands, but some of the time by the barrel. The player will now be able to run off the screen to the right and the camera won't follow the kongs. The oil drums that exist in that area don't block the player's way and the player can keep on running until the kongs fall into the ditch where DK found Rambi. To bring the camera back to the kongs and see all of the land DK covered, the player shall push A to get off Rambi. The camera will zoom over to the player.
[edit] Enguarde Warps Colors
First the player has to go to Croctopus Chase. Then, after the parts where the kongs are carried from one place to another by the blast barrels, the kongs will have to find Enguarde and get on him. Then the player has to go back through the level until the kongs reach the last blast barrel that the apes were shot from. By simply getting in that barrel and getting fired out, the player can perform many glitches:
- The first of these is that Diddy will be walking, not swimming, behind Donkey Kong. The player can get off Enguarde and swim to his side. Then the player will press select. If done correctly, the camera will freeze and Diddy alone will be able to walk around as if it were a land level.
- While still frozen, the player could jump back on Enguarde. Diddy should turn into a greenish-blue color and hover in mid-air. This allows the player to control Enguarde by himself, which results in the Kongs being left behind if the player continues on through the level.
- While on Enguarde, the player can press the Y button and then the A button once quickly after. Enguarde should turn into another greenish-blue Diddy that the player will be able to control. If the player touches the other floating Diddy it will turn the player back into Enguarde.
- While using Enguarde once again, the player needs to press the A button quickly and repeatedly will permanently turn him into a reddish color with either DK or Diddy following behind.
As this new red Enguarde, the player has to have Diddy follow behind him (if Donkey is behind the player, the player will have to press the A button twice and the Kongs should switch). Then the player has to press the the Y button and the player then has to press the A button. This results in Enguarde transforming into an oddly colored Donkey Kong that hovers in the air while the player is left controlling the Kongs once again. The player can redo this with DK following behind the player while the player is controlling Enguarde, and a normally colored Diddy should be hovering in the air instead of the oddly colored Donkey Kong.
[edit] Rambi Glitch
If the player enters a bonus level that has an animal crate, gets on that animal, leave, and then reenters the bonus level. Then, gets on the animal buddy inside the bonus level again, but then get off it and leave. When the player comes out, he/she will be on Rambi's back. However, entering another bonus level will cause Rambi to disappear. The glitch is found only on the following levels: Bouncy Bonanza, Orang-utan Gang, and Misty Mine.
This glitch only works on the SNES version of the game, and can't be executed at all on the Virtual Console port (The player will only get back the animal buddy he/she were riding on upon entering the bonus level).
[edit] Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
[edit] Castle Crush Glitch
WARNING:The following glitch can erase files or corrupt game cartridges if performed.
The Castle Crush glitch has become infamous among fans as the series' most fatal glitch. For players brave enough to try it, enter Castle Crush with Diddy Kong as the lead character (Dixie is optional but cannot be the lead character). Pick up the first DK Barrel and hold it against a wall. Drop the barrel and quickly pick it up again; if done correctly, the barrel will break but Diddy will act as if he's still holding it. Upon throwing the "invisible barrel", various things could happen. Commonly the Rambi Barrel will appear and cause Diddy to transform into various things, including a solid black sprite of Kleever or a multi-colored Klubba, to name a few. The effects are short lived though as any attempts to move will result in the game crashing.
The aftermath of the glitch varies. Though some have been lucky to escape with no ill effects, others have reported save data being erased, or the game becoming corrupted to the point of being near unplayable. Therefore, it is wise to avoid this glitch at all cost.
Note: This glitch only works in the Super Nintendo version. It was fixed for the Virtual Console.
[edit] Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
[edit] High Jump Glitch
In this glitch, Mario and Luigi will disappear from the screen and will never appear again until the player resets the game. To do this, the player must first defeat Fawful in Bowser's Castle and then save in the next room. After that, the player should have Mario in front of Luigi, and Luigi behind Mario. Next, the player should make Mario into Mini-Mario by having Luigi hit him with the hammer. Once Mario is in his mini form, the player should go back to where Fawful was fought, and walk to the bottom right corner. Once at the corner, the player should have Luigi perform a High Jump, but have Mini-Mario hit him by jumping while he's in the air. If preformed correctly, Mario and Luigi should disappear, but the music will still play. Mario and Luigi will never reappear, all the player can do is turn off the game.
[edit] Unfitting Music
If the player has Mario turn into Mini-Mario, by having Luigi hit him with his hammer, and walk into an area where the music changes, the player should notice that the music didn't change. Even though this happens with most areas, it doesn't happen with all places. This can also result in commical effects, such as the under ground theme playing in Beanbean Castle Town. Having Mini-Mario entering pipes always results in this glitch. However, this will not work upon exiting the warp pipe in Joke's End.
Additionally, after Luigi is taken by the crane in Woohoo Hooniversity, if Mario hits the Save Album while moving left, and continues to hold left, he will walk a short distance down the nearby staircase. If you Save and Quit, then reload the game save, there should be no music. However, fighting one of the nearby enemies will cause the background music to change to the save-file music. The music will revert to normal if you do not fight an enemy before saving Luigi, otherwise it will revert back after you save again, after the cutscene with Cackletta, or upon leaving the Hooniversity.
[edit] Bowletta Glitch
To trigger this glitch, the player should use the advanced version of Cyclone Bros. during the Bowletta fight, if she gets Dizzy, the player should then "defeat" her quickly. She will then act out the entire cut scene that follows while still being dizzy.
[edit] Dissappearing Sprites
Much like the "High Jump Glitch" , this glitch will make all sprites from the screen vanish. To do it, the player needs to have the advanced version of the Cyclone Bros.. When finding an enemy, the player needs to fight it. The should use the Cyclone Bros. to make one of the enemies dizzy, then they should kill the enemy right after. Shortly after wards, all sprites (e.g. Mario, Luigi, remaining enemies, etc.) will vanish. The music will still be playing, but all the player can do from there is to reset the game.
Note: This glitch will not always work; it works mostly in Bowser's Castle.
[edit] Mario Kart 64
[edit] The Middle of Koopa Troopa Island
This will work with any character. On Koopa Troopa Beach, when the character comes to the big turtle shaped stone, hang a left. There should be some moss growing on the top of the back wall. The player needs to find the crease in the wall where that moss begins. The player must make the character he/she chose run strait into that crease. When (if) the character starts to move up the wall the player must then make sure he/she is moving up that crease and not starting to move onto other parts of the wall. If this is all done correctly, the character should move off the other side of the wall and fall into the water in the middle of the island.
[edit] Mario Kart Wii
[edit] Selecting the Same Character
This glitch works only for multi-players. Within the character selection screen, the players each pick a different character. Then go back using the "B" button twice. Then go forward again to the selection screen. Move the cursor off of the character, but do not pick any other one. When using another controller, by pressing "B" button twice for de-select and go back to the championship select mode. When returning to the characters screen, it will notice how the ring around the selected character is flashing two colors. Then, both players can select the same character. Repeat this process if needed for more players. If the player looks what happens when one player actually selects the character (presses A/2), all the other players have the same animation going on. When a race finishes and the select course screen appears, the second character is driving an invisible vehicle.
[edit] Using the Wrong Vehicle
When moving on towards the Kart/Bike selection screen (with the above glitch activated), if one player has a bike and one is in a kart, the player on the bike may look as though they're riding in a kart and vice versa.
[edit] Wrong Clothing
Do the "Selecting the Same Character" glitch and choose any of the three princesses (Peach, Daisy, or Rosalina), then make both of the players choose any of the bikes. Make one player take 3rd place or above and the other take 4th place or below. At the victory ceremony if the player keeps an eye on the princess 4th place or below, she will be wearing a dress while the other is wearing the biker suit or vice versa.
[edit] Cacti Pokey
In the Thwomp Desert tournament if the player has got the Pokey head rolling around the area it may occasionally get jammed between three cacti making it unable to roll around; When this happens it will shake in place. This glitch makes the Pokey an easy target.
[edit] Topmen Transport
In the second topmen tournament, if the player pushes the topmen to the about to fall outer ring of the Galaxy Colosseum (but not over the edge) and then the outer ring starts to fall what will happen is the topmen will still try to follow the player but the ring already started falling but the topmen will somehow transport itself from the falling ring back to the main stable platform.
[edit] Jitter-Top
In the second topmen tournament, if the player pushes the topmen and the topmen is very angled as if it is going to land on its side and it stops on top of any of the gaps that seperate any of the outer rings it will be in some fast jittering frozen animation. This glitch can also happen if the second topmen pushes the other topmen, but both of these techniques are hard to do and is rare to see.
[edit] Misplaced Item Box
In the second topmen tournament, if the player falls off a certain area of the Galaxy Colloseum he/she can see a misplaced item box all the way of the bottom of the pit.
[edit] Balloon Boos
This glitch happens when the player is in an online battle and they start the battle. After picking the course, sometimes there will be two people (other than the player) on the course. These people will most likely be on the player's team and they will be invisible with only their balloons showing. When this happens, it will be impossible to hit them, and when the time is up, the player can still move around as if they were in the time frame. The battle will never end unless the player turns off the game.
[edit] Exploding Players
In an online Coin runner, if the player ends the run, all the other players (except player one) will disappear leaving all their coins behind, letting the player's Team win. If the player continues, they'll be disconnected.
[edit] Neck-n-Neck
Occasionally in an online race if the player gets to the finish line first while there is an opponent who necks the player but doesn't pass him/her, the player in the lead will be in the position that the "necking" player was at in the score board after the race.
[edit] Double or Nothing
Occasionally when the player runs over a thin horizontal strip of a rainbow boost pad (like the ones in the beginning of Rainbow Road) they will sometimes get no boost or there boost will be done twice. This glitch will usually happen in high speed in 100cc or up and in a heavy kart or bike.
[edit] Wrong Animation
Occasionally when the player is watching a live Wi-Fi race, the player in first place who already past the finish line will start doing the fifth place and below animation while the racers in fifth place and below will start doing the fourth place and above animation. Although it is more likely for the player in first place will do the wrong animation.
[edit] Incorrect Music
In Dry Dry Ruins, right when the player leaves the ruins, if the player gets hit by a Spiny Shell, if done correctly, the music from the ruins will be playing throughout the entire course. If the player is on lap one, the music will keep playing until they exit the ruins yet again. If they were on laps two or three, the music will return to normal when they cross the finish or enter the final lap.
[edit] New Super Mario Bros.
[edit] Frozen Ghost House
Playing as either Mario or Luigi in World 4-Ghost House, the player has jump onto one of the spindials that turns around and takes the player to the next room. However the player must jump right on the very left or very right of it, then jump straight off. The whole room will freeze. The player can smash blocks but they will be frozen as half destroyed blocks. The player can also fire fireballs but they will freeze too. If the player goes on the spindial properly or touches an enemy the level will go back to normal.
[edit] Trapped
This glitch happens in World 4-Ghost House, and Mario or Luigi need a Mega Mushroom in the character's item slot. They should go to the place where the freezing glitch happens (the "room" with the single Boo and invisible blocks in it), and go on into the next room (the one that is barren except for a Balloon Boo and a one-way platform). To start the glitch, they should aply the Mega Mushroom and go onto one of the objects that takes the player go to the next room "properly". They will have their head stuck in a pipe. They can't move horizontally, but they should attempt to jump to start the glitch. Mario/Luigi will not be able to jump, and they will be taken back to the previous room. To fully activate the glitch, they should jump off and the spindial will go the previous room. All they can do now is exit the level, or if they haven't completed the level, the player should wait for time to expire.
[edit] Bowser Jr. Knockout
In any of the first Bowser Jr. battles (ones where he doesn't throw green Koopa Shells.), if the player has a Mega Mushroom in stock, the glitch becomes possible. When the player is in the battle and activates it, eats it, and stands still, when Bowser Jr. touches Mario/Luigi, Bowser Jr. will become unconscious. If the player waits until they turn back to normal, and jump on Bowser Jr., this will make him knocked out on the floor. Even if the player is jumping on him won't do anything. The only way to attack him then is to do a ground pound.
[edit] Walking Backwards
In the World 4 map after unlocking a green Toad House, the player can put Mario/Luigi in the overworld map on 4-1 and press down on the D-pad. The player will now walk backwards until the player reaches the end.
[edit] Walking In The Air
In World 4-6 the player should go up to where there are three green pipes on a rock above, each with a Piranha Plant. The player should stay there and wait for Dorrie to leave. The player should wait about 10 to 20 more seconds. Mario or Luigi should go to the far left, but not on the ledge. The player should run and jump, if the player is far enough Mario/Luigi should be walking in the air. However when the player gets to the pipe Mario or Luigi will be teleported to somewhere and the player will be invisible and unable to move.
[edit] Under The Flagpole
In world 2-5, use the cheat to make the camera only move right (L R L R X X Y Y on the map after completing the game). The player should have any power-up (Excluding the Mini Mushroom). The player should go through the level until the player sees a Boomerang Bro. The player should go to the right of where it was, and jump into the quicksand. The player must keep hold of right on the D-pad while the player is sinking. When the player starts to move, Mario or Luigi should still be keeping hold of right, then the player must press A. Mario or Luigi will appear in a place that has gray blocks behind them, as they have to go down. The player should go on a Blockhopper. The player must jump when they are near the ceiling near a Star Coin. The player must keep jumping until they're stuck in a rock. The player will be at the end of the level, and under the flagpole. The player should jump when the player is not moving and then the player will be past the flagpole.
[edit] Above The Ceiling
In World 3-Tower the player must go along the way until they fight Bowser Jr.. Step on him twice. Then he will go his usual routine trying to jump on the player. Time it right so when he jumps to the highest point, the player can jump on him. Also the player must use the technique where they can jump higher off an enemy. Aim towards the ceiling, if done correctly, Mario should be on top of the roof. The usual animation of Bowser Jr. running away will show and the Mario face signal turns halfway because the player can't see Mario.
[edit] Saving Peach without saving her
In the final fight, if the player defeats Bowser and then uses a mega mushroom, he/she has to jump on Bowser Jr. and hold the jump button. The player should make sure he/she's right next to Peach's platform and jump to the right as far as you can. If the player did this correctly the player should be on the same platform Peach is on.
[edit] Beat the final boss and keep the music
If the player uses a mega mushroom to beat Bowser, then beats Bowser Jr. the final boss music keeps playing.
[edit] Paper Mario
[edit] The Herringway Glitch
Herringway can be morphed into a normal Bumpty or become invisible if the player pauses the game right after Mario and Herringway go into the mayor's room and right before initiating the conversation with the detective during Chapter 7. If invisible, he will reappear when the room is left. If Herringway becomes a normal Bumpty, the game will freeze when the mayor gives him the present. Upon freezing, a glitch menu will appear on the screen.
Herringway as a normal Bumpty. |
[edit] Shiver Region toad to normal toad
In Shiver City or Starborn Valley, the player should go into the toad house and take a nap. After the nap, the player should pause the game. The Shiver Region toad should then become a normal toad. This does not effect anything within the game.
[edit] Sliding Mario
Mario can be stuck in his talking pose after the character starts talking. If the player starts talking as Mario is going up onto a ledge, Mario will be moving while the character is talking. If the player goes up onto the ledge, Mario will go back to normal after going back down, but if the player stays down, none of the controls will work and the game will have to be reset. This works best in Kooper's house in Koopa Village.
[edit] Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
[edit] Make Bobbery Disappear
Bobbery can be forced offscreen in this glitch. It can be used any time after Bobbery joins Mario's party. In Rogueport, the player should go anywhere near the gate right next to the passage above. Tossing him makes Bobbery go off the flipbook, and as long as Mario doesn't leave the area, talk to someone, or change partners, he'll be walking alone.
[edit] More of Ms. Mowz
During the battle with Sir Grodus, the player can make Ms. Mowz divide into three. When it says "All direct attacks will be countered", the player will have to take out Ms. Mowz (If Mario already has her out, the player can just keep her out) and do the Love Slap attack. After it's over, the game makes the player repeat the process but instead of the control stick being in the picture the A button will be there. The player will have to do nothing. Then Ms. Mowz will divide in to three. The real one goes back with Mario, the second one will stay by Grodus and the last one jumps behind him and runs in midair.
[edit] Disappearing Koops
Like Bobbery, Koops himself can also disappear, but it's a little more different. To make him disappear, the player must go to Center Rogueport and go to the back with the Goomba and Bandit. There, shoot Koops left or right, and keep holding X. Talk to one of the residents in Center Rogueport, and Koops should disappear, leaving Mario all alone. Unless the player leave Center Rogueport, press X again, switch partners, or go into a shop, Mario should be alone.
[edit] Ms. Mowz: Master of Disguise
There is a way to have Bobbery show up in Mario's Party before he actually joins Mario's Party. To do this, the player must have Ms. Mowz in their party, and she must not be alongside Mario at the time. If the player chooses a healing item, Bobbery will be in Ms. Mowz's spot on the list.
[edit] Slow Motion Areas
In the western corner of Flurrie's house, Mario appears to jump and walk slowly.
[edit] Super Mario 64
[edit] The Dark World
Mario can stumble upon a glitched level, known by fans as the Dark World (among other names, like the Black Room of Death), by accidentally becoming trapped within the walls of the steeple atop Princess Peach's Castle. It's actually nothing more than the small area behind the castle's front door. To get into the Dark World, the player will have to have all 120 stars. The player will then have to shoot Mario up on top of the roof to get the Flying Mario Cap. Then Mario needs to go back into the cannon. The player needs to aim Mario first towards the flagpole at the top of the castle, and then aim up as far as the cannon can go. The player will have to steer Mario to the second red area to the top. On the side with the window, The player will need to make Mario run into the middle of the wall, and while he is starting up the wall make him jump (while holding the control stick forward). This may take a few tries, but Mario should eventually end up behind the castle door. If Mario runs into the door, he will go through it and end up in another glitched area behind the door inside the castle. The Dark World can be escaped by jumping through the wall above the door inside the castle.
[edit] Zombie Mario
This glitch can be done in any level with a Cannon and Bob-ombs, but it is easiest to do in Bob-omb Battlefield. First, the player must get their health down to one or two slices. Then, Mario has to get a Wing Cap. Then, the player must grab a Bob-omb, and quickly run in front of a cannon, with Mario's back faced to the cannon. If done correctly, the Bob-omb will explode, Mario will fall backwards into the cannon, and the player can then aim the cannon. After firing themselves, despite the player doesn't have any HP left, the player can still fly around freely, if the player had gotten the Wing Cap earlier. The glitch ends, by Mario dying, when he touches the ground.
[edit] The Hidden Cork
In the Whomp's Fortress, if Mario picks up a certain block, the player should keep trying to get it inside the one that leads to the Thwomps, it may either trap the block in there, or Mario will get through it, causing the place to be trapped in a floating flood. If Mario swims too deep, however, he will fall and lose a life.
[edit] 100-coin Star Glitch
In several levels, including Whomp's Fortress, Tall, Tall Mountain, and Rainbow Ride, if Mario collects his 100th coin directly above a bottomless pit, a Star will magically appear as usual, but Mario will be unable to collect this Star because if he touches it, he immediately falls straight down and loses a life before he is able to perform his victory dance.
[edit] Go Through the Roof Glitch
After the player defeats Bowser the second time in Bowser in the Fire Sea, Mario should go to door and run to the pole on the left wall. Then press the jump button (A button) twice. Mario will go through the roof and on to the stairs.
[edit] Camera Glitch
If Mario goes through the castle door that leads to the Snowman's Land, he should then go through that door again, but then go straight back through the door. The camera (Lakitu) should be stuck on the opposite side of the door as Mario.
[edit] Boo Glitch
In order to see this simple glitch, the player must have around 12 stars so the Boo appears in the hallway to the back courtyard. The player must go into the hall, and then go to the room where the painting to Whomp's Fortress is. Then, the player should walk slowly to the left side of the room and exit and head to where Boo is. Boo should be facing backwards, and the player should chase him out of the room and to the back garden. The player should then go to the castle basement and then back to the Boo's hallway. He will be facing the normal way. The player should then go to the Whomp's Fortress room again and move slowly to the left. Partway there, the Boo will laugh. The player should then slowly walk out of the room and into the hallway to the courtyard. Boo should have disappeared. Then, the player should go to the door that leads to the courtyard and position Mario so he looks to the right in Camera center mode. Behind the door, a Boo facing forward, backward, left or right should be floating in a pitch black enviroment.
[edit] Messed up Mario
Warning: Tilting an N64 game cartridge can corrupt and/or permanently damage it.
If the player tilts the N64 cartridge itself, Mario's limbs will be disfigured and he will slowly sink into the ground, but he can still be controlled. But entering any doors like that will freeze the game.
[edit] To the Bottom O' the Town
In Wet-Dry World, Mario needs go to the white structure and hit the Crystal Tap to adjust the water level. Then he needs to go over where the arrow lifts are. An electric enemy is floating above the platforms. To go this glitch, Mario needs to jump near the enemy(trying to not have platforms under him) and do a Ground Pound. If the enemy comes and hits Mario while doing this, he will fall to the very bottom of the ocean and suddenly pop right back up to the top without hitting the A button to swim up.
[edit] Super Mario 64 DS
[edit] Fence Flying
As any character, the player should go to Bob-omb Battlefield. Then they should go into the tall cannon near the Koopa. They should aim for the bottom of the floating island, and fire. If Up is held the entire time, the player will be pushed through the fence and end up extremely high in the air, above the mountain. While performing Fence Flying, the player should hold Up, and they will eventually be sent out of the level's boundaries, making them lose a life after about ten seconds.
[edit] Fence Flying 2
The player should go to the cannon in the area right past a Chain Chomp. They should aim all the way to the right, and then slowly down, until they can see a few pixels of a tree. After firing, if they hold Up, they can be forced high in the sky after crashing into the fence. While performing Fence Flying 2, the player should hold Up, sending them out of the level's boundaries that makes them lose a life. If the player, after hitting the fence, lines himself up with cannon at the start of the level, the player will pass through it and another cannon will come up. The cannon aiming screen will come onto the screen and the player will be looking through both cannons.
[edit] Klepto's Version Detector Glitch
The player needs to set off into Shifting Sand Land as any character, but should choose any star besides stars 1 or 5. This is because in Star 1, Klepto is carrying a star in his talons and is flying all over the course, and in Star 5, he isn't in the level. Anyway, players should enter Shifting Sand Land as anyone and take someone's cap (it doesn't matter which cap they take, but the glitch will fail if they don't take one). When the hat is taken, they should head on over to the other side of the pyramid (the one with Klepto, the lake, and a Pokey in between the two pillars) and look for a non-bouncing cork box. If they spot it, the player should pick it up and go to where Klepto can get them and stand still (It is quite relevant to stand still, or the glitch won't work). When stationary, players should wait for Klepto to come get them and when he hits, if the player has Version 1, the game will freeze and will also produce a very loud screech-like noise. If the player did this glitch correctly, and the game did not freeze, they have version 2.
[edit] Multiple Caps
In Snowman's Land the player needs to jump in the cannon and launch Mario/Wario/Luigi at the tree on the Snowman's mountain. After that, the player must get Mario's/Wario's/Luigi's hat blown off by the Snowman. When the player lands, the player has to grab the box near the pile of ice blocks and throw it at the Snowman wearing the hat. After that the player needs to put the player's hat back on and repeat the process. When the player defeats the Snowman, two hats will appear. The player must collect both hats. The number of hats will double each time the player repeats this. After about sixteen hats the DS will begin to lag and there will be piles of hats (more than one hat in the same place). When there are too many hats the game will crash. But if Mario gets rid of enough moving objects in the level (that means enemies, coins, etc.)then eventualy it will get to the point that the snowman will stop giving out hats and Mario will be left without a hat.
Note: If the player has version 2, the game will not freeze, but the DS will still lag and they can still get more and more hats.
[edit] Double Triple Jump
As Mario, go to any course that has a red box with a feather in it. The player has to get the Wing Cap and wait until the wings start to disappear. The player has to quickly triple jump. The Player will do a Triple Jump twice.
[edit] Non-Completable Mission
This glitch works in the Silver Star level of Snowman's Land. First, the player should collect every Star. Then, the player has to head for the igloo. After entering the igloo, the player should lose all of their silver stars by bumping into enemies. After that, exit the igloo. Notice how the silver stars have disappeared from anywhere in the entire level. The player's only choices are to complete another mission or exit the level.
This glitch was fixed for European releases of SM64DS. As a side effect, the next (arguably more serious) glitch became possible.
[edit] Frozen Snowman's Land
The player will have to go to Snowman's Land and do the Silver Stars level. The player has to collect all five Silver Stars, then go to the igloo. Once there, the player has to go back outside the igloo to find out that the Silver Stars have reappeared. Collecting one of them results in everything freezing except the player. Also, the enemies vanish completely. The player has only two choices on getting out: Either jump into the pond and get knocked out by the freezing water, or simply turn the power off. Also, when the silver stars have reappeared, if the player were to collect one of the stars on a koopa shell, the game will COMPLETELY freeze.
[edit] Falling Off the Screen in Bob-omb Battlefield
To perform this glitch the player must choose the Silver Star mission. The player must collect each Silver Star, and then take damage so as to allow all five Stars to follow behind them. Next, the player must cause every Star to fall into one cannon. After that, jumping in the cannon will cause Mario to collect each Silver Star, inhibiting the cannon's launch animation. Due to this, Mario will fall into the bottom of the cannon hole and because it is not solid, he'll fall through and into the abyss.
[edit] Zoom Out
This glitch can be completed in any area with a down-moving moving elevator. To initiate it, the player must put any character on the elevator, and as it is moving down, he or she must go into first-person mode (X-Button). In this mode, and while the elevator is still moving down, if up or down is pressed, the camera will zoom out away from the character and give a view of the entire area the character is in. Once zoomed out, pressing left or right on the control pad will move the area to allow the player to see it all. To get out of the mode, the player just needs to press X again or press up or down.
Note: This glitch is not possible on an upward-moving elevator.
[edit] Yoshi Carrying an Invisible Object
The player must go somewhere with at least 2 Goombas as Yoshi. Yoshi must swallow one of the Goombas and turn it into a Yoshi Egg. Then the player must jump on the other Goomba and press A. With good timing, the Egg will explode and Yoshi will be carrying an invisible object in his hands. Oddly, this might be something left over from a beta build of the game, since Yoshi never uses his hands in the final version.
[edit] Disappearing Objects
Sometimes when the player does the above glitch parts of the level will be invisible but still touchable such as signs, red coins, posts and doors. Even the icons on the screen like the health meter, coin counter, etc. will vanish. If the player stays in the level for more than a few minutes the game will crash.
[edit] Misplaced Graphics
In Whomp's Fortress, after passing the pushy walls, there are two Brick Blocks facing the mountaintop. The player has to look from any other direction and the Brick Blocks will be gone. The player can go right through the brick either way. In the DS version, only the first block is fake.
[edit] Chill Bully Suicide
This glitch can be used with any character. The character must go to Snowman Land level and grab the box directly behind the staring point of the level. Then carry the box over to where the red ? box is at, go right past it, the Player should be on a ledge with a tree on it and can see Chill Bully and his platform. Line Mario/Luigi/Wario/Yoshi up with the tree and throw the box. It should land close to the edge of the platform. Now jump over to it and get the bully to chase Mario or company. Run behind the box let him run on top of it. He will get stuck on the box, after a second he will fall off the box and start walking towards the edge of the stage and will walk off. However if he is touched after he falls off the box a low humming noise will start and he will walk on air until he's touched again. If he walks off the screen. everything except Mario and him will freeze, and if any enemies or coins or anything else is touched the game will crash and need to be restarted.
[edit] Metal on the Inside
With any character, head to Jolly Roger Bay and do the first level, so that the ship is underwater. Next, head to the secret cave and grab a Wario cap. Stand under the ? box and face the exit. Take the Power Flower from the box and head to the ship as fast as the player can. When the player is flashing back into regular Wario, they should be sliding down the ship. With luck, the metal with have worn off by the time players hit the sea floor. The player can then use the clam to take their cap off, and the other caps are waiting for them down there. The only way for things to be back to normal is to exit or head inside the ship.
[edit] Through the Wood
The player must do the above glitch and head to the front of the ship. Then, run into the ship. If the player does it in the right spot, the player shall walk through the ship's wood. If the player tries to head inside the ship while behind said wood, the player will end up sliding between the wood that is there and an invisible wall of shadows. To get inside the ship from here, walk up the wood floor. The player will go through that floor and end up inside the ship.
[edit] Metal on the Inside 2
The player should enter Wet-Dry World with any character and they should set the water level so that the tip of the spiral platform is in the water. If done, the player should swim to the very back of the spiral and jump under it. It all goes well, the character will be forced under water and they can now walk under it like normal. To get out, players should simply get towards the surface of the water.
[edit] Another Non-Completable Mission
As Yoshi, the player needs to go to the Tall, Tall Mountain. They should select mission 2. Then, they should get Hoot to fly them to the top of the mountain. The player should then eat the monkey on top. When the monkey asks for Yoshi to let him go, the player should select hold him. Next, the player should walk down the mountain, and spit him into the water. The player should fly back up to the top. Then, they should eat the monkey again. When he asks Yoshi to let him go, hit hold him, and walk to the fence in front of the waterfall. If the player faces the waterfall, and waits for the monkey to ask for freedom again, they should say yes. Yoshi will then spit the monkey into the waterfall. If the player walks down the mountain, then flies back up, they should eat the monkey again. The monkey will not ask for the player to let him go. If the player hits A again, Yoshi will make a swallowing motion, and the monkey will reappear where he last was. The player must now leave the area, or complete a different mission.
[edit] Fall Down the Wall
Sometimes, if the player grabs onto the edge of a moving platform, the character will make the climbing motion, but fall down, and though the floor. This can also be done on any fenced wall.
[edit] Underground Pool
First, as anyone other than Yoshi (sliding is involved, which is something Yoshi cannot do), the player needs to exit the castle and go to the left near the little lake with the cannon. Then, they should get onto the lake shore and just to the left of the cannon, on a steep hill, there will be a tree. If players position themselves correctly, they should slide towards the tree until half of their character is beneath the ground, while the other half is above it. If that is done correctly, they should slide down the tree (without jumping) and will eventually hit water. They can swim freely down there, but sometimes if the player jumps, they will keep falling until they lose a life. To get out, the player simply should swim into the lake from where the tree was, or, if the moat was not yet drained, they can enter the cannon and get to the roof with as little as 8 stars.
[edit] Ukiki Freeze
Players should enter Tall Tall Mountain as Yoshi and get anyone else's cap. With the cap on, they should grab Ukiki so that he can steal the cap. When Ukiki has the cap, the player should try to grab Ukiki to get the cap back. If they succeed, immediately after they get the cap, they should charge for Ukiki to grab him again and, if they grabbed him as Yoshi, Ukiki will try to steal Yoshi's cap despite him not having one. This will cause the game to freeze.
[edit] Haunted Rabbit
The player needs to enter the backyard as Wario because there is a rabbit for him there. With Wario, the player should position the rabbit in between the Boo and Wario, and should face the boo. Then, they should charge for the rabbit, and, if lucky, they will catch the rabbit and the boo will solidify and knock Wario away while holding the rabbit. Then, the player should return to the rabbit to find that the rabbit will not move, cannot be touched, and Wario can walk through it like a boo when transparent. Players often use this glitch to get humorous screenshots of Wario standing inside the rabbit, making it look like he has rabbit ears.
[edit] Hatless Power Flower Abilities
The player should enter Tall Tall Mountain as Yoshi and get anyone else's cap. With the cap on, Yoshi should go get the Power Flower atop the mountain, and then get Ukiki, while the power flower is still in effect. They should wait for it to wear off and, while they're flashing back to normal, they should hop into the water, but should be back to normal by the time they hit it. When in the water, the player should head back on land via the waterfall (if they go on land normally, Ukiki will give his speech, causing the character to return to normal). When they have climbed the waterfall a little, then they can get on land. The player should then get to the top of the mountain via the owl and get the power flower. Depending on which cap they got, the following effects will happen:
- Luigi: His body will be invisible, but his head will remain the same.
- Mario: Everything will be normal, but he will have wings growing out of his head.
- Wario: The game will freeze right when the power flower is touched. [1]
[edit] Fall Through the Stairs
As any character, the player should run up the to the room with the Tick Tock Clock. They should head right, and climb up to the second step. Then, they should slide (by running foward and pressing R and A) into the corner. It may take a few tries, but eventually, the character will pass through the wall, and lose a life. However, sometimes the player will be shot up into the sky and can guide themselves to the top of the endless stairs while still endless and thus enter Bowser in the Sky with as little as 50 stars. The glitch also allows the player to beat the game without Mario.
[edit] Long Jump of Death
As any character, the player should enter the character change room and immediately turn left; they will notice a corner where the wall with the door meets another wall. Players should position themselves so that their character is facing the corner and then they should start long jumping into the corner. If they keep it up for about a minute, eventually they will slide up the corner, into the wall, fall a long distance, lose a life, and appear outside the castle. While falling, players will see a messed up graphic.
[edit] Messing up Yoshi's movements
As Yoshi, players should head in front of the castle and find three rabbits outside the bridge. Players must chase the left rabbit over the wooden bridge and try to catch it and go over the bridge at the same time, and should land in the water (it is highly recommended to do this before draining the moat, as the glitch will fail if they jump off the bridge and hit land.) While in the water, players should try to get slightly on land so that the rabbit can give his speech and Yoshi can land back in the water right afterward, but before regurgitating the rabbit. With the rabbit still in Yoshi's mouth, players should swim back to jump back on land to find that Yoshi is uncontrollable. He will be moving in the same direction he jumped in, but he will be moving without moving his legs until he touches a steep slope, where he'll slide down. If Yoshi did not hit the water, he will remain stationary and still is uncontrollable. When this happens, the only way to escape is to turn off the game. If Yoshi hits the water, he can jump out and will move without moving his legs again, until he hits a slope, in which case, he will remain stationary.
[edit] Mini-Mega Yoshi
As Yoshi, the player should enter Bob-Omb Battlefield and choose a level where the block containing a Mega Mushroom is present. The block should be near a Bob-Omb and a wooden bridge. Yoshi should lick up the Bob-Omb and spit it towards the block. The Bob-Omb will explode, leave some coins behind, and the block will explode, revealing a Mega Mushroom. The player should then try to have Yoshi eat a coin and be touched by the mushroom at the same time. If it worked, Yoshi will be small, but the Mega Mushroom music will be playing. He walks as if he's big and will even break blocks and other things on contact. It's as if Yoshi is big and small at the same time.
[edit] Super Mario Bros.
[edit] The Minus World
- Main article: Minus World
To activate the glitch, Mario must go to World 1-2 and stand on top of the pipe that leads to the above-ground flag, without going in the pipe. Then he must break the second and third block from the pipe, but leave the one on the far right. Then he must stand on the left edge of the pipe (facing left) and duck. He then has to jump while in a ducking position and move right in mid-air (while still facing left). If done correctly, Mario will go through the block on the far right and through the wall to the Warp Zone. Mario must then go through the pipe that would normally lead to World 4-1 (the one on the far left), and Mario will enter the Minus World (world -1; it's actually world 36-1, but the game displays the number 36 as a single blank space).
If world 2-2 is edited in a ROM editor, so that it is possible to beat it during the underwater segment, there is a world -2, an underwater version of 3-4. If world 3-4 is edited in a ROM editor, then there is a world -3. It is also a version of 3-4 but with overworld graphics.
[edit] Small Fire Mario
The Small Fire Mario glitch is performed by having Super Mario or Fire Mario or Luigi hit the Ax in a Fortress level. If Bowser hits the player while the player hits the Ax, Mario will flash but stay Super Mario. Bowser will be defeated, and then the player will move on to the next level after rescuing the level's Mushroom Retainer. The game continues as normal, except when the player gets hit, they die. Collecting a Super Mushroom will make the player Small Mario, and when they get hit they'll become Super Mario again. When the player grabs a Fire Flower as Small Mario, the player will become Fire Mario, but in the smaller body. When Mario shoots a fireball, he will become large, then, when the animation is complete, he returns to the small size. If Mario dies, the player will need to repeat the glitch in order to play as him again. A similar variation on this is to do the same thing with small Mario. Mario will do his usual dying animation, but the screen will scroll over, like normal, to the Mushroom Retainer, even though there is no Mario.
Also, in the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, the player can get Small Fire Mario like this; When the player is fiery Mario and hits an enemy, the player should pause and click save, Small Fire Mario will appear. However, Mario will lose a life in one hit, unlike small fire Mario in SMB.
[edit] Over The Flagpole
In some levels, it is possible to go over the flagpole. Beyond the flag pole is nothing but an endless castle. There is nothing to do; all that can be done is wait for the timer to get to zero.
In Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, this is actually exploited to hide a Warp Zone.
[edit] Stuck Under Water
In the end of swimming levels, there's a one block sized space above the Warp Pipe that leads to the exit. If the player crouches as Super Mario and then swims into the space while still crouching, Mario should walk backwards and get stuck in the far right side of the wall. After pulling off this glitch, it is impossible to move. This works in the NES version, the Super Mario Bros. Deluxe version, but not in the Super Mario All-Stars version, as the space directly above the Warp Pipe has been filled up with a block.
[edit] Underwater Moonwalk
In 2-2, there are two hills with a pit in between them, with peaks one-block wide. If Mario swims to the hill on the right, then stands on it, he will automatically walk backwards into the pit. However, the player can stop Mario from falling by swimming upward, of course.
[edit] Music Change
This works in World 1-1. Mario/Luigi should hit the block with the Starman in, then go to the bit with the half pyramid with 10 blocks on each half. Then they let the Star touch them, then as quick as possible, go to the flagpole. If done correctly, when the invincibility wears off, the music from the level will play instead of the usual lyrics.
[edit] Magic Mushroom
This glitch also works in World 1-1. In the part where the second mushroom/fire flower block is in Mario's/Luigi's Small Form, then get the mushroom off the bottom gap. As soon as this happens, the player must jump to the top of the level. If done correctly, the player will become their Super form, even though the mushroom has fell off the gap. This is because certain objects overlap to the top of the screen as they fall in a hole, only disappearing when the last pixel is down the hole. They can't be seen because SMB has no vertical scrolling.
[edit] Unmoving Mario
If Super Mario jumps right when a level starts, he will not move his feet when he walks. This glitch wears off if he gets hit.
[edit] Super Mario Bros. 2
[edit] Walk Up Walls
In any level that has brick walls in them, it is possible for the player to super jump into the edge of the walls as Luigi and can walk straight up the wall.
[edit] Climb Over a Vine
In any level with a Hoopster, the player can climb to the top of a vine and continue to hold up. If a Hooper happens to come up to the top of the vine and push the character up while the player is still holding up on the controller, the character will be in the climbing animation a few feet above the vine. The character will fall as soon as the player lets go of the up control.
This also works in the All-stars version, except the player will need to hold up on the directional pad or else they will pop off the vine.
[edit] Defeating Birdo with a Key
This can be done in level 1-2 of the game, as well as all of its remakes. After the player gets the key, (The player can only do this with Luigi.) the player must do a Super jump off of a Ninji, and then the player will find the door to the Birdo battle. If the player can go into the door with the key, unlike Mushroom blocks and vegetables. They can defeat Birdo with 3 hits with the key, although Phanto is still there to attack the player.
[edit] Stuck in a Mushroom Block Part 1
This glitch can only be done in Super Mario Advance. It best works in the Fryguy's boss fight area. If the player slides underneath one of the flying Mushroom Blocks, the player will have to let go of down on the controller. The character's whole body, except for legs, will be trapped inside the Mushroom Block. The only way to get out of it is to slide back out.
[edit] Stuck in a Mushroom Block Part 2
In certain areas, the player can throw a Mushroom Block onto the platform above the player without running or jumping. When timed correctly, the enemy will become trapped in the block.
[edit] Stuck in a Mushroom Block Part 3
Anywhere there are enemies and Mushroom Blocks, the player has to leave a Mushroom Block where an enemy first appears on the screen, and the player has to leave the area without going up a vine or through a door to another area and without attacking the enemy. When the player comes back, the enemy will be trapped in the Mushroom Block.
[edit] Where Did It Go? Part 1
In 3-3, in the underground portion, it is possible to freeze a Mushroom Block inside part of a chain, and it takes on the chain's palette. If the player leaves the area and come back (without going through a door) the palette will return to normal. If the player picks up the Mushroom Block, the chain it was in front of is no longer there.
[edit] Where Did It Go? Part 2
In the same area, if the player throws a Mushroom Block from the platform next to the chain, the player has to wait a few seconds, then follow. It disappears until the player goes through a door.
[edit] Definite Death
This only works in Super Mario Advance, and requires Mario or Luigi. In 2-1, a wall while digging through the sand exists. The player should super jump with the key up to it, and once they touch the wall, try to throw the key. If done right, they'll be stuck in the wall. The Phanto will be delayed for about two minutes, but will eventually swoop in. The only controls are left and right, though they make the character walk nowhere.
[edit] Super Mario Bros. 3
[edit] Fireless Bowser
It is possible to remove Bowser's ability to spit fire. It works in the NES version and the Super Mario All-Stars version, but not Super Mario Advance 4 remake.
The player must use a P-Wing before entering Bowser's Castle. After climbing the stairs protected by Roto-Discs, the player must duck, then fly onto the ? block, and stand up; the player will glide through the wall. (This isn't necessary for the trick to work, but makes it easier to keep Mario's P-Wing activated.) The player must fly through the lava chamber and, when presented with the four corridors at the end, take the one guarded by the Thwomp. The player must then fly through the hall of statues and enter Bowser's chamber.
Once the player has entered Bowser's chamber, the player should fly straight up to the left. The player will pass over the wall. When the player reaches the end of the wall, they must stop. If they keep going, the player will land in Bowser's alternate room and fight him there. Instead, the player must return to the chamber they came from. Next, the player has to walk to the right, and Bowser will spawn. He will make belching motions at Mario, but will be unable to produce fire.
[edit] Pipe Bug
This works in the NES version, but not Super Mario All-Stars or Super Mario Advance 4.
This is a glitch from level 3-9. In it, the player plays with the Ice Blocks on the right side of the Pipe as follows: Mario ducks, getting rid of the bottom 3 ice blocks on the right side of the pipe, but keeping the ice block on the far top. Then he should duck and jump and he will suddenly go down the side of the Pipe. Fire Mario can still shoot fireballs, but Mario won't be able to get out of the pipe. The player can just scroll left and right, but Mario won't appear. Moreover, the player won't return to the map screen until 5 minutes after time runs out.
[edit] Small to Fiery
This works in the NES and Super Mario All-Stars versions. Whether it works in Super Mario Advance 4 is a meaningless question because a Fire Flower changes small Mario to Fire Mario normally in Super Mario Advance 4.
This glitch is in level 5-7. The player starts 5-7, and Mario should be Super Mario. Mario should jump into a block to make a Fire Flower without getting it right away. Instead, Mario collects the first coin to the right of the flower and it starts to flash. Then, a Micro-Goomba hits Mario so that he can downgrade to small, and he grabs the flower, and he becomes Fire Mario immediately.
[edit] Somersault Glitch
This glitch can be performed in 6-10. The player starts 6-10 with Starman Power (from the inventory) with no Frog Suit. Mario somersaults onto the Vine. He will still somersault even when he loses his Starman Power.
[edit] Hammer Sliding
This glitch can be found in World 6-10. The player follows the route until they reach a pipe with the Hammer Suit in it. If Mario enters the secret room and breaks the ? with the Hammer Suit, he will go up to the top of the hill, and he will still slide even with the Hammer Suit on.
[edit] Fly through the wall
This works in the NES and Super Mario All-Stars versions, but not Super Mario Advance 4.
The player has to go to Bowser's Castle. After passing the Donut Lifts, the player will have to take the upper route. The player will follow the route until Mario/Luigi reaches the door at the end. Instead of entering it, the player must fly to the Bowser statue just before it and ducks. The player ducks on top of the Bowser statue, and after doing so the player has to fly through the wall. This will make the player end up in the room that would have been reached if the player had taken the lower route found after the Donut lifts.
[edit] Invisible Bricks
This glitch works in the Tower in World 5. First, the player must start the level with a P-Wing. The player should fly to the area full of bricks. (There should be two Micro-Goombas there too) The player should then fly to the pipe and then go above it. Then keep going right until they get over the pipe into an area behind it. There is also a brick with a 1-Up back here. Over to the left, the player should see a wall of bricks. Mario should then fly over to them and whip them with his tail to make a spot to stand on. The player should then make Mario fly upwards off the screen for a while, he/she will start seeing "invisible" blocks being broken at the very bottom of the screen.
[edit] Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
[edit] Fireball Through Compact Space
This only works in the classic version. In World 4-2 near the second Hammer Bro., there is a corner. The player should shoot a fire ball there and it will, about one times out of ten, go through the corner.
[edit] Super Mario Galaxy
[edit] Enter the small house
The player must head to the Deep Dark Galaxy and choose a level where the cannon can be used. Next the player should take Mario/Luigi to the shrinking planet (Located in Deep Dark's sky). Now the player shall see two small houses. Next, Mario/Luigi must kneel and enter the door of the house with the blue roof. Mario/Luigi will be in the house. The house's walls aren't solid from the inside, so to leave the house Mario/Luigi will just have to walk out.
[edit] Climb Slippery Slopes
Although Spinning is normally not possible on slippery slopes, the player can bypass this restriction. To do so, the player must press the control stick in the direction Mario is facing, jump, then Spin while reversing the stick to face the opposite direction from Mario/Luigi. This odd glitch can be done multiple times in a row to climb slopes that are otherwise to steep to use. Several sub-glitches make use of this.
[edit] Pull Star Movement Exploit
By repeatedly Spinning while using a Pull Star, and grabbing the Pull Star to avoid falling, Mario and Luigi are able to access any area within range of that Pull Star. [2]
[edit] Gravity Blocks Glitch
In the level Gusty Garden's Gravity Scramble, the player does a long jump on the left corner at the bottom of the third group of blocks. If done correctly, Mario/Luigi may fall back to the planetoids were the Launch Star is. Because the blocks' gravity has been changed, the only way to progress is to die or reset the level. [3]
[edit] Music Glitches
There are three music glitches that can be performed in the game. The first one is in the Good Egg Galaxy, and the player must select 'King Kaliente's Spicy Return', and go onto the roof of the house on the first planet. If Mario/Luigi starts to enter the orange pipe while using the launch star, no music will play until they reach the Airships or if they go into the hidden area on the rocky moon.
A similar type of glitch can be performed in the Ghostly Galaxy and the Deep Dark Galaxy. In the Ghostly Galaxy, in 'Beware of Bouldergeist', Mario/Luigi should barely enter the mansion, then come out. If done correctly, the mansion music will play outside.
In the Deep Dark Galaxy, in any level (except the Daredevil/Purple Coin comet), when Mario/Luigi enters the cave far enough, the music will change. If they come out of the cave, the music will still play, even if they get the Rainbow Star or Fire Flower in the level.
[edit] Planet Orbit Death
In the level Beware of Bouldergeist in Ghostly Galaxy, when playing with Luigi, when the player gets to the hollow planet with a bouncy core, the player has to do a long jump. If it is done correctly, Luigi will end up orbiting the planet and, after a few turns, he'll get inside it and die. [4]
[edit] Enter the Starshroom
In the level Kamella's Airship Armada in the Space Junk Galaxy, Mario/Luigi starts out on a yellow Starshroom, facing a red one. The player has to stand in the middle of the yellow one, then run at the red one and do a long jump. If they hit a certain point on the red Starshroom, they will be thrust back to the yellow one and end up inside it. When this happens, it will be impossible to access first-person view; however, if the player jumps around while inside, this view may be accessed. There is no way to exit the Starshroom; the level must be exited for the player to escape.
[edit] Sand Mario
In the first Mission of the Deep Dark Galaxy, there is a cannon fixed into the beach. Mario or Luigi must jump into the cannon and hold the B button while moving the remote backwards. The player then must aim at the spot where the umbrella connects to the pole as far to the right as possibly. If done correctly Mario will be in the sand but partly in the lawn chair. Mario must then crouch and move forward and he will fall under the sand and start swimming in it. Another way to do this is to get to the part where Mario is partly in the chair and have a crab hit Mario then crouch down. While Mario is in the sand if he swims to far away or down he will die. Mario can access the inside of the red starshroom, the inside of one of the palm trees, or the vases just by jumping under them.
[edit] Very Long Jump
The player must go to Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, then go to the lava and rock planet. Go on the platform that is spinning backward, wait for the fire ball to pass and stay on the middle or right side of the platform. With correct timing run forward and then do a long jump. The result should look like Mario is about to fall on the lava but instead Mario race across the lava and then smash into the platform where the next gravity spotlight beam is then he fall into the lava where the player can guide Mario onto the platform and go to the next planet.
[edit] Guppy's Glitch
If the player touches him repeatedly, Mario will lose a life.
[edit] Moving Galaxies
First, the player must get near any Luma that will take Mario to a galaxy outside the domes. If the player goes into first-person view, they will notice the galaxy is far away from where they are. Then, the player should talk to the Luma, which will transform into a Launch Star. Without going in, the player should again go into first-person view. After looking around, the player should notice that the galaxy is much closer than before. Strangely, Flying Mario is able to fly to and enter Sweet Sweet Galaxy using this glitch.
[edit] Rising Dry Bones
To do this glitch you must go to Dusty Dunes Galaxy, then you go to the mission called Sun Baked Sand Castle. Once you get to the part were you ground pound on the button and the tower rises up, you ground pound on the button. Then you take your cursor and point on the Dry Bones and hold down A to stun it.(while the tower is still rising)Then the Dry Bones will keep rising until you stop stunning it.(Except for when the tower stops rising, if the dry bones is rising and the tower stops, the dry bones will remain in the air until you stop stunning it.)
[edit] Invincible Koopa Troopa
To do this glitch you must go to Sea Slide Galaxy. You go to the mission where you have to race the four penguins. Instead of racing the penguins go to the island with red Koopa Troopa. Then get it's shell and go back to were the penguins are, there should be a green koopa Troopa. If you touch it holding the shell you won't lose life.
[edit] Invisible Platform
In the Bubble Breeze Galaxy, in the second half, if Mario/Luigi backflips onto the rocks, they can land on a small invisible platform above the swamp with slippery edges. A huge shortcut can be taken in the level using the glitch, by long jumping to the area with the Power Star the other side of the rocks.
[edit] Suicidal Spin Jump
As Luigi, in Bowser Jr.'s Lava Reactor, on the first planet, the player needs to do a triple jump towards the cage with the three coins in it and land the second jump right on top of the cage. When done, in the middle of the third jump, the player must spin and, if done correctly, Luigi will be sent flying towards the lava planet. Due to landing so far away from where the Launch Star makes the player land, Luigi will have no choice but to land in the lava, bounce around a few times, and lose a life.
[edit] Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
[edit] Broken Pipe
In the second level of the Pumpkin Zone, after the water and Boos, there is a bunch of blocks. If the player is Super Mario, they should destroy only the first block in the first column, by spin jumping. The player should then run back into the pipe. If done correctly, instead of going back to where the Boos are, Mario will then go through the wall, and be back to where the pipe leading to the water is.
[edit] Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
[edit] Through the Chancellor
The player will have to start a new game. When the player first reaches Princess Toadstool's castle, the player needs to go to the room with the Chancellor. There are two rows of three Toads that the player will notice. When the player goes behind the toads, they tell Mario that he should walk properly in between the two rows to greet the chancellor. However, if Mario jumps on a Toad's head, he can get past them. Mario will go around the room by the wall, and sneak up from behind the chancellor. When Mario talks to him, the player will walk through him to greet him.
[edit] Piranha Glitch
The player needs to go to the Bean Valley where the Fly Guy waters the Piranha Plants arranged in a circle. Before he waters it, Mario will have to jump onto a Piranha Plant. When the Fly Guy waters it, the player will be inside of the plant (although it may not appear that way). The Piranha Plant will move around, but it will not be able to initiate battle with the player. However, if the player moves or jump, the player will start fighting with it.
[edit] Stuck in a Yoshi
The player will have to go to Yo'ster Isle. This works best after Mario defeated Boshi. Mario needs to Get on the green Yoshi and then ride over to the racetrack. Mario shall pick a racing Yoshi and the player will be in that Yoshi's path. It's better if Mario does this far ahead of the Yoshi, so Mario will have time to prepare for himself. Mario will have to jump off of the green Yoshi and then talk to him. He'll ask Mario if he wants to Saddle Up. Mario will have to say yes, but he shouldn't jump on. Then Mario needs to wait for the racing Yoshi to get to the player and right when it reaches the Green Yoshi so that they cross paths, Mario will have to jump on the Green Yoshi. If done correctly, Mario will be on the Green Yoshi and stuck inside of the racing Yoshi. The player won't be able to move around. The racing Yoshi will still be running, but in place. If the player does this at just the right moment, the characters' images will look really warped and be inside of each other. To get out, the player can jump or get off the Yoshi. The player can do this with any character that walks around in Yo'ster Isle, but it's easiest with the racing Yoshis because their paths are already set.
[edit] Super Mario Sunshine
[edit] Atomic Mario
Go to Pianta Village and go to the tree with all of the fruits on it. Than knock a durian off the tree without kicking it. This may take a couple of tries, but when it is done correctly, the player should jump on the durian. There should be an atomic reaction under Mario. You can move a little, but if you move too far, the glitch will stop. You can also shoot water in this position.
[edit] Funny Walking
Get the rocket nozzle or turbo nozzle then press R really lightly. If done correctly Mario will walk funnily until you stop holding R.
[edit] Random Flying Yoshi
To do this trick go to Sirena Beach and choose star 3. After getting Yoshi go to the attic and run into the first sleeping boo you see. Then go to the third floor and jump in the north-west corner. You will be able to see that Yoshi!
[edit] Neverending slide
First, the player must go to the underground tunnel by the police piantas and go underground. From there, the player should squirt water in front of them and immedeately after that slide downward without stopping, when the player reaches the bottom, instead of hitting his head, Mario will still be in the sliding posistion, but will not be moving because of the wall. The sound of Mario sliding will also be heard. To stop just jump.
[edit] Sitting in the Air
First, the player must go in the doorway to the box breaking game. Then, the player should wait for the end of the game. When there is about 1 second left on the clock, ground pound. If you are in the middle of ground pounding, the pianta will speak to you like normal, but you will be sitting in the air. When the pianta is finished speaking to you, you will finish your ground pound. this may take a couple of attempts.
[edit] Broken Camera in Gelato Beach
First, the player must search for a dune bud that leaves a large foot imprint. From there, the player should squirt the Dune Bud, and, just before it reveals the imprint in the ground, Ground Pound. If this is done correctly, the screen will zoom out up to the sky, and turn downwards to reveal Isle Delfino. The camera then zooms in all the way down to Mario. (Mario is sometimes seen Ground Pounding downwards with the camera until it reaches Gelato Beach.)
[edit] Frozen Yoshi and Floating Items
If Mario lets a Yoshi eat an enemy or fruit, but dismounts it while Yoshi's tongue is pulling it in, the Yoshi will remain in its bent-down position with the fruit or enemy floating right in front of it. The Yoshi's saddle will also hover slightly above the dinosaur's actual flesh.
[edit] Pulling Yoshi Food from the Air
The player must perform the above glitch and stay in the area where it was performed. If Mario hops back on the frozen Yoshi, he can continue to ride him around normally. But the first time after Mario hops back on that the Yoshi sticks his tongue out, the item that was frozen in front of him will suddenly appear. If the item was a fruit, it can conveniently be used to automatically refill Yoshi's juice capacity.
[edit] Mysterious Book
In Noki Bay, where the player goes in a bottle, go behind the building at the bottom and head into the back notch on the right. There will be a door there. The player must rotate the camera so the other side of the door can be seen. There is a book lying on the floor. Strangely, there isn't a way through the door.
[edit] Blasting Through the Wall
If the player gets the Turbo Nozzle in Delfino Plaza, and heads to the fruit stands, something very odd may occur. While standing slightly against the wall behind the papayas and pineapples (in which case Mario's body should touch the wall, but he should not be directly facing it), Mario can blast his Turbo Nozzle, and before reaching the durians, he will go right through it into some underground area. If Mario stops, he'll automatically die, but it is possible that Mario will come across an underground pipeline to run into.
[edit] Walking Underwater
If Mario walks through the sewers the player can find a path that leads Mario behind the Shine Gate, he will find a few pools of water. If he swims into the lowest one that is blocked off by a gate, if the player presses B in front of it, one of many glitches will occur. Mario will either be able to walk underwater in the pool without an underwater life meter, go through the gate and fall straight down into an area behind the waterfall, or fall into the sewers. If the first result occurs, then Mario can walk underwater as described above. He will walk as though he is on land. However, note that if Mario gets his whole body out of the water (For example, using the Rocket Nozzle), when he lands in the water, he will swim normally again. If the second result occurs Mario will land in a strange underground area. Running forward will result in hitting the wall behind the waterfall and dying, however running backwards will make him fall into the sewers. In both that and the third results, the sewers can be navigated and exited normally.
[edit] Walking Underwater v.2
First, the player must activate the flood by defeating Shadow Mario on every level. When Mario starts, he will be in front of the Shine Gate. Mario must swim over to the log floating in front of Mario and try surfacing under it. It will take a few tries, but if done correctly, Mario will experience one of two glitches. He will either be able to walk underwater or he will be in the blue screen of death. This will work with any log.
[edit] Aquatic Jailbreak
Also during the flood, if the player were to look in the accessible cell with the Blue Coin, there would be a sewer cover.
[edit] The SMS Blue Screen of Death
The "Blue Screen of death" is an area under most levels. If the player stays on the ground for too long, then they will die automaticaly.
In Gelato beach, Mario will have climb to the highest rope, then jump off to the west, if the player presses b at the right time before hitting the invisible barrier, Mario will fall back through the ground and into a blue void. Then Mario loses a life.
The player can also do it Delfino Plaza by going on the top of the Banana Tree and the player will have to jump and hover to an open window. The player will have to be above the open window, where the roof and building meet. Next, the player will be inside the building, in the Blue Room of Death. Mario will have to jump about every 3 seconds to avoid death. For Mario to get out, he'll have to do a Triple Jump, which puts Mario in the sewers, unless he has Yoshi with him, in which case he can triple jump back up into the plaza.
The glitch can be done another way in Delfino Plaza, by going under the deck near the enterance to Noki Bay. Then, using the turbo nozzle to run under the water, and jumping out, directly under the crate on the deck, very close to the wall. If preformed correctly, Mario should be inside the crate, if the player walks into the wall on the right, Mario should be in the Blue Screen and die.
A similar glitch occurs in Noki Bay. After a certain maneuver into a puddle at the base of the cliff from the first Shine Sprite, Mario will be underwater, but also under the cliff itself. If he swims too far into the cliff, he will lose a life upon reaching a blue screen of death.
In Bianco Hills, If Mario attepts to belly slide under the waterwheel at an angle, he'll get knocked through the ground and die before he can regain mobility.
[edit] Watermelon Cutter Glitch
First, the player needs a Yoshi. The player will have to go to Gelato Beach. Once the player is there, Mario will have to ride a Yoshi and get onto the Cutter, which causes it impossible for the player to get on it again, because once the player gets on, Mario will get flung off because of the cutter. The Yoshi will just stay there. To end this glitch touch the cutter with Mario and jump on Yoshi walk of like nothing ever happened
[edit] Bubba Proof
In Gelato Beach, the player can stop a Bubba from dragging Mario underwater if the player picks up a piece of fruit (excluding durians) and starts swimming with it. A Bubba will follow Mario around (and sometimes even pass through him), but won't be able to drag him down.
[edit] Nozzle Box Glitch
When Mario begins at Delfino Plaza, he should head to the South-East bell tower. Mario should stand on the first ledge and face the Grand Pianta Statue. The player should turn the camera until it is inside the tower. If done correctly, the player can see a Rocket Nozzle Box.
[edit] Different Nozzle Box Glitch
Grab a Yoshi and jump on a nozzle box with it. The player should then get off Yoshi as soon as they jump and get the nozzle. If done correctly, Yoshi will be inside a nozzle box!
[edit] Mirror Glitch
When Mario goes to a place with a mirror such as Gelato Beach, he should look into a mirror and see that F.L.U.D.D's head seems to be missing in the reflection.
[edit] Flooded Shine
During the events of the flood in Delfino Plaza, the player should use the walk underwater v.2 glitch as shown above and go to the beach area of the city. Mario will have to spray around the sand near the umbrellas until the player sees yellow sparks fly. Mario should focus by squirting water there until it reveals an image of a Shine Sprite that only gives the player one coin.
[edit] Under The Cannon
During any episode of Pinna Park (excluding episodes one and two) Mario can try to ground pound the Pianta working in the cannon. It will take a few tries, but if done correctly, Mario will go under the Pianta and inside the cannon. This is also possible, in Delfino Plaza, on the cannon that leads to Pinna Park (before the cannon to Pinna Park is working).
[edit] Slow and Speedy Boss Battle Music
In this episode, the player will have to defeat the Giant Green Wiggler. When the player hears the slowdown, the player will have to press the Z Button. The player will hear slower, deeper music. Also, with correct timing, the player will hear a speedy version of the music in a high note.
[edit] Exploding Fruit
Any time in Delfino Plaza (excluding the flood), if the player sprays the pineapples behind the Pianta Statue, in the small pool or the pears to the side of the entrance to Noki Bay, in the other small pool, they will explode into water as if the player threw them into the ocean.
[edit] Crazy F.L.U.D.D
When directly under a Shine Sprite, (Excluding Secret Levels) if the player is holding R all the way down while jumping, Mario gets the Shine Sprite and F.L.U.D.D will act as it is squirting.
[edit] Fruit Gone Missing
When Mario has a fruit (Excluding a Durian) if Mario gets behind a sign or a tree or anything bigger than Mario the shadow of the fruit will disappear.
[edit] Walking With the R Button Held All the Way Down
To do this glitch, the player must do the crazy F.L.U.D.D glitch, (See above) and hold R the entire time. When the player gets back to Isle Delfino, they can walk with the R button held all the way down.
[edit] Invisible Wheel
In order to do this glitch, the player must go to Bianco Hills. Use the Turbo Nozzle to ride over the lake and then come out and go onto the small hill next to the wheel on the right. They must jump and if done right, Mario will go through the wheel.
[edit] Wheel Glitch 2
To perform this glitch the player must do the above glitch, but he/she have to do it wrong. Mario will bounce back. After that, just Turbo Nozzle into the wheel, without jumping. He should hit a spoke. If they were to try to go back out to the lake he'll touch an invisible wall. The spokes will move right through him. Moving to the other side, but not exiting the spokes' range and try to go back the wall will be farther in. To end this glitch simply get out of the spokes' range.
[edit] The Land Under Pianta Village
In Pianta Village, if Mario is to fall down side of the rope bridge, he will die. However, sometimes instead of dying Mario lands onto a white floor in an endless area. If the player is to look up they will see every area of the game sitting on top of big mushrooms. Mario is free to move, shoot water, etc, but is stopped by invisible barriers after a few meters. the only way out is to reset the software and it is not possible to save.
[edit] "Mr. Blooptastic"
The player must go to Ricco Harbor and choose "Gooper Blooper Returns". When there, go to where the first Gooper Blooper fight was held and try to jump onto the arched wall to the right, or just use the Rocket Nozzle. Try to spray Gooper Blooper from there. If the water reaches Gooper Blooper, he will extend his arms and they will land almost all the way across the gap between the helipad and Mario. If you do this while standing at the closest point to him (The top-right corner of the rectangular part the extends out) Then Gooper Blooper can reach you, and you can jump on his tentacles, but you can't grab them due to the tentacles being slightly lower then the wall. Also, his arms seem to land on an invisible floor that Mario can't stand on.
[edit] The Broken Bridge
If the player visits Pianta Village, squirts the ground in front of them, and dives foward to move faster, a glitch may occur. If the player slides on the bridge to Pianta Village, they might fall through the bridge, and die.
[edit] Voice Delay
If the player gets a Game Over screen when inside the bonus stage in the Delfino Plaza, when the game asks you if you want to continue, you will hear Mario scream as if he fell from a high place.
[edit] Boat out of Stage
In Noki Bay, take the boat and navigate it to the boundary. If Mario jumps out of the boat at the last second, the boat will go outside of the boundary. NOTE: Mario cannot get the boat back.
[edit] Backwards F.L.U.D.D.
The player must first gain the Turbo Nozzle. Then they must switch to the regular nozzle, and push R all the way down. The player must move the control stick up and down quickly, and push X. The Turbo Nozzle will charge up, but instead of propelling Mario fowards, it will act as the regular nozzle, backwards.
[edit] Through The Branch
In Pianta Village, jump off the bridge. If you land on the the big branch, you may go through it as if it were not there and die. Interestingly, Mario stops his falling scream when touching the the branch, but starts again when falling through.
[edit] Insomniac Mario
It is unknown what triggers this glitch, but while standing next to the entrance pipe to Pianta village, Mario may not fall to sleep while the game is left untouched for long periods of time. Due to unknown conditions for this glitch, it is worth noting that Mario was facing the camera when seen.
[edit] Ghost fish
The river in front of the shine gate has blue fish in it. If the player follows these fish, they swim away from Mario. If he follows the fish into a wall, it will swim through it.
[edit] Pianta Statue glitch
Go behind the pianta statue and backflip onto it's cape. Just before landing, use the hover nozzle, and Mario will shoot upwards as if using the rocket nozzel, but not as high.
[edit] Look and walk
This glitch requires the Turbo Nozzle. Hold down R slightly while looking to walk.
[edit] Swim on Corona Mountain
Go to Corona Mountain and stand where the first 1-Up Mushroom is found. Collide with the Lava Bubba in a certain point and you will be able to swim in the lava. Source
[edit] Dancing Fruit
On Pinna Park, get in the park and find a fruit. Grab it and take it to the Yoshi-Go-Round. Put it on an egg and watch the fruit spin.
[edit] Super Mario World
[edit] Stuck Buzzy Beetle
When you go to Donut World 2 Pick up a buzzy beetle go to the first platform going down. There, throw it upwards and leave it there. It will get stuck in the platform.
[edit] In the Pipe
In any level with a pipe that extends and retracts into the ground, the player should get an item that Mario can carry (Koopa Shells, P-Switches, etc.) and leave it on top of the pipe. When the pipe retracts, the item will fall with it as normal, but when the pipe extends, the item will be stuck inside the pipe. The item will "vibrate" back and forth and eventually move out of the pipe after a few seconds.
[edit] Freeze Glitch
In Super Mario World there's a glitch that freezes the game. The player must find a Fire Flower first then a Feather. Have Mario become Cape Mario and then get Yoshi. Next go to a world that contains berries. Now the player must drop the Fire Flower and let Cape Mario touch it and at the same time get Yoshi to eat the berry. This causes the game to freeze and as well make Mario flash from red to green like if he touched a Starman. It can also have a more helpful effect of infinitely raising the player's coins, giving them up to 99 lives in the process. The the player can leave the level by pausing the game and pressing Select.
Note: This glitch will not work in the GBA remake.
[edit] Falling through the floor
In Vanilla Dome 2, it's possible to fall through the floor via a glitch. Towards the end, the player has to take a left and go through the "secret" passage. Then the player has to get a Buzzy Beetle shell and toss it at the first two blocks. Then the player has to quickly get a running start and slide under the blocks before they harden. Once there, the player must not release the down button. Once the player is completely surrounded, if they press A, they will Spin Jump through the floor, leading to the Mario's demise.
[edit] Make items go through walls
This is only possible in the SMA remake. There are many parts in the game when Yoshi can eat an item and then stand right next to a wall and spit it out. For example, in Valley of Bowser 4 in the part when the player must smash through a row of blocks that has a trampoline near it, the player can swallow it with Yoshi, go down the small gap in the floor, turn left, and then spit the jumping board out. It is likely to go through the wall.
[edit] A Shell and a Pipe
In Vanilla Dome 3, the player has to go to the checkpoint near the two orange pipes. The player has to defeat the Beach Koopa and claim its shell. Then the player has to start from the right-hand pipe and take a running jump. The player has to try to aim about 2 blocks under the pipe's top and let go the shell the moment the player hits the pipe. If done correctly, the shell will be stuck in the pipe.
[edit] Ending Glitch
This glitch works in the SNES version and the GBA remake. Should the player go to Front Door or Back Door and defeat Bowser, the player should hold UP immediately after beating him. Continue holding UP until the credits screen appears. This will cause Mario to look up and down, waving his arms. He will continue to do this until Mario, Yoshi, and Princess Toadstool reach Yoshi's House.
[edit] Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
[edit] Hint Block's Hidden Power
In world 2-7 Lakitu's Wall, Yoshi can eat a Fat Guy for a Giant Egg. When Yoshi arrives to the part with a Car Morph Bubble, he should hit the Hint Block with the Giant Egg to make every thing freeze for a little while. When that is over the stars from above will fall to the ground and Yoshi will be invisible. Yoshi can still walk around while unseen but it will be difficult. If Yoshi jumps through the finish ring while invisible, the whole game freezes and the player will have to reset their Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
[edit] Eating Baby Mario
NOTE:Yoshi must have the 10 Stars or 20 Stars item to activate this glitch.
In World 1-2: Watch Out Below!, the player should go to the area with the Helicopter Morph Bubble. The player should then get the bubble and fly into a Goonie. He/she should then wait until the counter reaches zero. While the Toadies are taking Baby Mario away, the player should quickly hit him with Yoshi's tounge. The player should touch the Helicopter Morph Bubble. Once Yoshi has already transformed, the Toadies will try to take Baby Mario again. When they pop Baby Mario's bubble, the player must open thier inventory and select the 10 Stars or 20 stars item. When the Toadies are gone, the player must wait until Yoshi transforms back to normal. The player able to eat Mario if Yoshi licks him. Even though Baby Mario still missing, the game won't freeze, but the level is rendered impossible to complete.
[edit] Super Paper Mario
[edit] Underhand glitch
In the River Twygz section of the Underwhere, select Barry and find an Underhand not attached to the ground. Use Barry on the hand and it will fall to the floor, but become stuck. It will writhe and twitch but won't be able to really move anywhere.
Another exploit in the same area is to get a free roaming Underhand to follow the character out of the river. They will follow as expected but twitch if they touch the ground or become stuck between Charold's boat and the rivers edge.
[edit] Disappearing Pixls
Pixls can be forced to go behind the background of a stage. It can only happen when one of the characters is in a background area near a Warp Pipe, and can only be used by Boomer. First, the player must place Boomer in a area in which one of the warp pipes can not be seen. Then, they must go down the unseen warp pipe before Boomer goes off. If this is done correctly, Boomer will go off and go behind the background. When the player is in the next area, Boomer will still be with him/her.
[edit] Yold Town Shop Void
In the shop in Yold Town, a player should use Mario. The player should then flip to 3D, and go behind the small sign next to the counter. Then, in 2-D, the player should walk towards the counter. If done right, Mario should go through the sign, and be partially inside of it. Then, if they flip back to 3D, Mario will do his "falling" animation, and fall through the floor. If the player moves the control pad, the screen will scroll away from the shop and into the void behind it. After about 10-15 seconds, Mario will reappear.
[edit] Yold Town Shop Shadow World
In the shop in Yold Town, first do the Yold Town Shop Void glitch but when Mario does his "falling" pose, jump left and Mario will be in a world of black. The player should stay in 3D because in 2D, Mario will be back in the shop.
[edit] Merlee's Mansion Game Freeze
In the PAL versions of Super Paper Mario if the player goes into all the rooms indicated by Mimi the game will freeze.
Note: This may not work on all PAL versions of the game.
[edit] Super Smash Bros.
[edit] Big or Small Mario
The player will have to use Mario for this glitch. Mario must to Hyrule Castle and stand against a wall. Then he must use shield and roll against that wall as much as he/she can. If Mario is rolling left, he will grow smaller. If he is rolling right he will grow larger. This will work for any world with walls.
[edit] Ness's Bat
The player must go to training mode and put 4 red shells right next to his opponent (it may only work with Mario). Ness should stand a slight bit away and use his bat on the red shells. If done correctly, the opponent should get from 600 to 999 damage and go flying off to his death. Sometimes this may also backfire.
[edit] Super Smash Bros. Brawl
[edit] Play as Giant Jigglypuff
First, the player must select the Bridge of Eldin stage. The player should also have a Final Smash prepared. King Bulbin will eventually come and destroy part of the bridge. Soon after, some black matter will restore that part of the bridge. When the matter begins to rebuild the bridge, the player has to use the final smash in midair in the gap. Jigglypuff will begin to inflate while the bridge is getting mended. When the bridge is completely fixed, Jigglypuff should bounce up onto the bridge and remain giant. Its attacks are completely the same, only that they have a much longer reach. Its movement seems to have slowed somewhat as well. It also becomes a very easy target and is simple to KO, as the slightest touch of the KO range will take it out. With this glitch activated, having Yoshi perform his Egg Lay attack will make Jigglypuff grow even bigger.
[edit] Disappearing Hat
First the player must choose Captain Falcon, and fight Jigglypuff with a green nightcap. Then the player has to get a Smashball and hit Jigglypuff with the Blue Falcon. When Jigglypuff lands it won't have a hat on.
[edit] Giga Bowser: lifeless
If the player plays a stamina battle, and he/she plays as Bowser, when Bowser gets a Smash Ball, and has 1% it he/she uses the Smash ball, and the opposing player attacks, Bowser will have 0%, and live.
[edit] Kirby Punch
Use Kirby and copy Captain Falcon's Falcon Punch. The best strategy to use Falcon Punch with Captain Falcon is to face away your opponents, short jump forward or backward then use Falcon Punch and turn to your opponents. But if the player use this with Kirby, what will happen is when Kirby do a short jump and do a Falcon Punch and turn the other direction Kirby will all a sudden be really high in the air.
[edit] Peach and Luigi "merged"
This glitch appears during the end of a team battle. Any player is the blue team, who must knock their opponents out in one hit. Two players are the red team, being Princess Peach part of the team. The fourth player will be Luigi for the green team. Once the member of the blue team had blown his opponents, the results score will show Luigi merged to Peach while they congrat the winner.
[edit] Negative Zone
If at a specific time when one player gets off the platform with the bat and the other player hits sandbag down then the player with the bat (who is off the platform) hits sandbag, and if used at a specific time the sandbag will go backwards and the camera will follow it, if done right the player will see there is no distance floor the music and cheering will stop and if Sandbag is thrown far enough he will hit an invisible glass wall (which can be told because if contact is made, the sound of breaking mirror will be heard) then sandbag will slide and while sliding will stand up.
[edit] Double Glass breaking
One player goes down with the bat at a close range while the other player hits sandbag down (not far) and if done correctly one player breaks the glass hitting sandbag down and the other player hits sandbag (close) and if sandbag hits the platform then the glass will break again.
[edit] Earthquake Glitch
Use Kirby and select PictoChat. Then go to the very edge of the platform where it is slanted, and use Stone. The whole stage will be shaking and Kirby will be acting as if he just landed from Stone over and over again with dust all around him and stars above him. If a player comes within range, they will be repeatedly hit with Stone until it automatically wears off.
[edit] Super Smash Bros. Melee
[edit] Infinite Super Scope Glitch
There is a in-game glitch to get an infinite super scope that will never run out of bullets. It is obtained by shooting fifteen small shots then two charged shots and during charging of the third shot the player must get hit, that will result in an infinite super scope. If the player throws the scope than it will disappear.
[edit] Black Hole Glitch
The black hole glitch is a glitch in Melee that causes several of Peach's turnips to become stuck in a small area. If a character touches the concentrated turnips, they will receive massive damage in seconds. There are several ways to perform the glitch. This glitch does not work in Brawl for several reasons, the main reason being the inability to perform the Infinite Super Scope Glitch. It is recommended in Hyrule temple, but will work on other stages.
Have two Foxes/Falcos stand on opposite platforms with a place for someone to stand underneath them. Have the character who is on the same team as Fox/Falco get a Super Scope. Fire five sets of three uncharged bullets, and then fire two fully charged bullets. Have the character charge up another shot, but get hit while doing so. The Super Scope will now have infinite ammo. Have it stand behind the Fox/Falco on its team, and commence firing. The balls should reflect off of both shines, creating a stream of glowing balls flying back and forth. Have Peach jump into the shots. The player will see that when she jumps into it, a blue ball-like thing appears. Have Peach jump into the shots several more times. Also, stop firing then commence firing to help it go faster. After a little while, there should be a steady beam of blueish-green and a strange noise. Have Peach throw 15 or so turnips into it. Then, once there is a mass of turnips in the blue beam, disrupt either Fox or Falco's shine. There should have a mass of turnips floating in the air Which the player can do just about anything to. If any character jumps into the turnips, they will receive a lot of damage very quickly. While being hit by the turnips, the character can jump into them to stay in longer, or away to pop out.
[edit] Wario Land 3
[edit] The Rolling Glitch
When crouching at the foot of a hill, Wario may get stuck in a tight spot while sliding before he starts rolling. It can be performed at The Stagnant Swamp and The Colossal Hole.
In this case, one will be able to walk as normal, but the game still treats Wario as if he's just rolling. Thus, he can break regular blocks and defeat enemies just by walking through them. Though there is a slight difference, as this state he will even stay if he walks on a hill, enters doors, crouches, performs a normal attack or a Smash Attack.
It will end if Wario gets attacked by an enemy, climbs up a ladder, enters a Pipe or if he hits a wall with a regular attack. In the last case, the animation will occur that can normally be seen when rolling Wario smashes at a wall.
