List of Glitches
From the Super Mario Wiki
This is a list of glitches that have appeared in the Mario series and its various sub-series. Glitches should be listed under the game they appear in.
[edit] Super Mario Bros.
[edit] The Minus World
The Minus World is one of the most well-known glitches in Super Mario Bros. It is an endless underwater level, also an exact copy of world 2-2, and once there Mario or Luigi is doomed to die from either running out of time or being killed by enemies. While there is no purpose for the glitch, it serves mainly to intrigue players. The glitch was removed in all remakes of the game, excluding the Game Boy Advance (Classic NES Series) remake and the Virtual Console remake. However, the Wii Virtual Console version is an exact copy of the original, meaning that players can once again enter the Minus World. In addition, the Japanese Famicom Disk System version of the game includes a different version of the Minus World, which contains three levels which can be beaten, and once -3 is complete the player will return to the title screen as if they had beaten the game.To activate the glitch, Mario must go to World 1-2 and stand on top of the pipe that leads to the above-ground flag, without going in the pipe. Then he must break the second and third block from the left, but leave the one on the far right. Then he must stand on the left edge of the pipe (facing left) and duck. He has to then jump while in a ducking position and move right in mid-air (while still facing left). If done correctly, the player will go through the block on the far right and through the wall to the Warp Zone. Mario must finally go through the pipe that would normally lead to World 4-1 (the one on the far left), and the player will enter the Minus World (world -1; it's actually world 36-1, but the game displays the number 36 as a single blank space). When world 2-2 is edited in a ROM editor, so that there is a flag and a castle midway through the level, there is a world -2, an underwater version of 3-4. Also, when world 3-4 is edited in a ROM editor (for the same reason as 2-2 is), then there is a world -3, also a version of 3-4 but with overworld graphics.
[edit] Small Fire Mario
The Small Fire Mario glitch is performed by having Super Mario or Fire Mario or Luigi hit the Ax in a Fortress level. If Bowser hits the player while the player hits the Ax, the player becomes small Mario. Bowser will be defeated, and then the player will move on to the next level after rescuing the level's Mushroom Retainer. When the player next finds a brick that normally would relinquish a Super Mushroom, it will instead give the player the Fire Flower. When the player grabs the Fire Flower, the player will become Fire Mario, but in the smaller body. When Mario shoots a fireball, he will become large, then, when the animation is complete, he returns to the small size. If Mario dies, the player will need to repeat the glitch in order to play as him again. A similar variation on this is to do the same thing with small Mario. Mario will do his usual dying animation, but the screen will scroll over, like normal, to the Mushroom Retainer, even though there is no Mario.
Also, in the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. DX, the player can get Small Fire Mario like this; When the player is fiery Mario and hits an enemy, the player should pause and click save, Small Fire Mario will appear.
[edit] Over The Flagpole
In certain levels on the game it is possible to reach a height which is higher than the flagpole. If this happens the player will jump over it. Beyond the flag pole is nothing but an endless castle. There is nothing to do; all that can be done is wait for the timer to get to 0.
[edit] Stuck Under Water
In the end of a swiming levels there's a space, about the size of a block, above the Warp Pipe that leads to the exit. If the player crotches with while being Super mario then swims into the space, while still crocthing, Mario should walk backwards and get stuck in the far right of the wall. After pulling off this glitch, it is impossible to move.
[edit] Super Mario Bros 2
[edit] Walk Up Walls
In any level that has brick walls in them, it is possible for the player to super jump in to the edge of the walls as Luigi and the player can walk stright up the wall.
[edit] Climb Over a Vine
In any level with a Hoopster, the player can climb to the top of a vine and continue to hold up. If a Hooper happens to come up to the top of the vine and push the character up while the player is still holding up on the controller, the character will be in the climbing animation a few feet above the vine. The character will fall as soon as the player lets go of the up control.
[edit] Defeating Birdo with a Key
This can be done in level 1-2 of the game, as well as all of its remakes. After the player gets the key, (The player can only do this with Luigi.) the player must do a Super jump off of a Ninji, and then the player will find the door to the Birdo battle. If the player can go into the door with the key, unlike Mushroom blocks and vegetables. They defeat Birdo with 3 hits with the key, although Phanto is still there to attack the player.
[edit] Stuck in a Mushroom Block Part 1
This glitch can only be done in Super Mario Advance. It best works in the Fryguy's boss fight area. If the player slides underneath one of the flying Mushroom Blocks, the player will have to let go of down on the controller. The character's whole body, except for legs, will be trapped inside the Mushroom Block. The only way to get out of it is to slide back out.
[edit] Stuck in a Mushroom Block Part 2
In certain areas, the player can throw a Mushroom Block onto the platform above the player without running or jumping. When timed correctly, the enemy will become trapped in the block.
[edit] Stuck in a Mushroom Block Part 3
Anywhere there are enemies and Mushroom Blocks, the player has to leave a Mushroom Block where an enemy first appears on the screen, and the player has to leave the area wthout going up a vine or through a door to another area and without attacking the enemy. When the player comes back, the enemy will be trapped in the Jushroom Block.
[edit] Where Did It Go? Part 1
In 3-3, in the underground portion, it is possible to freeze a Mushroom Block inside part of a chain, and it takes on the chain's palette. If the player leaves the area and come back (without going through a door) the palette will return to normal. If the player picks up the Mushroom Block, the chain it was in front of is no longer there.
[edit] Where Did It Go? Part 2
In the same area, if the player throws a Mushroom Block from the platform next to the chain, the player has to wait a few seconds, then follow. It disappeared until the player goes through a door.
[edit] Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
[edit] Fireball Through Compact Space
This only works in the classic version. In World 4-2 near the second Hammer Bro., there is a corner. The player should shoot a fire ball there and it would, about one time out of ten, go through the corner.
[edit] Super Mario Bros. 3
[edit] Fireless Bowser
It is possible to remove Bowser's ability to spit fire. It works in the NES version and the Super Mario All-Stars version, but not Super Mario Advance 4 remake.
The player must use a P-Wing before entering Bowser's Castle. After climbing the stairs protected by Roto-Discs, the player must duck, then fly onto the ? block, and stand up; the player will glide through the wall. (This isn't necessary for the trick to work, but makes it easier to keep Mario's P-Wing activated.) The player must fly through the lava chamber and, when presented with the four corridors at the end, take the one guarded by the Thwomp. The player must then fly through the hall of statues and enter Bowser's chamber.
Once the player has entered Bowser's chamber, the player should fly straight up to the left. The player will pass over the wall. When the player reaches the end of the wall, they must stop. If they keep going, the player will land in Bowser's alternate room and fight him there. Instead, the player must return to the chamber they came from. Next, the player has to walk to the right, and Bowser will spawn. He will make belching motions at Mario, but will be unable to produce fire.
[edit] Pipe Bug
This works in the NES version, but not Super Mario All-Stars or Super Mario Advance 4.
This is a glitch from level 3-9. In it, the player plays with the Ice Blocks on the right side of the Pipe as follows: Mario ducks, getting rid of the bottom 3 ice blocks on the right side of the pipe, but keeping the ice block on the far top. Then he should duck and jump and he will suddenly go down the side of the Pipe. Fire Mario can still shoot fireballs, but Mario won't be able to get out of the pipe. The player can just scroll left and right, but Mario won't appear. Moreover, the player won't return to the map screen until 5 minutes after time runs out.
[edit] Small to Fiery
This works in the NES and Super Mario All-Stars versions. Whether it works in Super Mario Advance 4 is a meaningless question because a Fire Flower changes small Mario to Fire Mario normally in Super Mario Advance 4.
This glitch is in level 5-7. The player starts 5-7, and Mario should be Super Mario. Mario should jump into a block to make a Fire Flower without getting it right away. Instead, Mario collects the first coin to the right of the flower and it starts to flash. Then, a Micro-Goomba hits Mario so that he can downgrade to small, and he grabs the flower, and he becomes Fire Mario immediately.
[edit] Somersault Glitch
This glitch can be performed in 6-10. The player starts 6-10 with Starman Power (from the inventory) with no Frog Suit. Mario somersaults onto the Vine. He will still somersault even when he loses his Starman Power.
[edit] Hammer Sliding
This glitch is in 6-10. The player follows the route until reaching the pipe with the Hammer Suit in it. Mario enters the secret room and after breaking the ? with the Hammer Suit, he goes up to the top of the hill, and he will still slide even with the Hammer Suit on.
[edit] Donkey Kong Country
[edit] Camera Freeze
The player needs to go through Oil Drum Alley. Then the kongs should get Rambi who's in a hole by the middle gate. Then, Rambi needs to go backwards before the middle gate and the player will find a blast barrel below Rambi resting on an area. Then the player has to jump over the barrel area and drop Rambi with the A button. This will only work if the player lands back on the higher land with that jump. Then, the player could jump down and after some tries, DK will land on Rambi at the same time as the player lands in the barrel. This will freeze the camera, most of the time on the area where the player lands, but some of the time by the barrel. The player will now be able to run off the screen to the right and the camera won't follow the kongs. The oil drums that exist in that area don't block the player's way and the player can keep on running until the kongs fall into the ditch where DK found Rambi. To bring the camera back to the kongs and see all of the land DK covered, the player shall push A to get off Rambi. The camera will zoom over to the player.
[edit] Enguarde Warps Colors
First the player has to go to Croctopus Chase. Then, after the parts where the kongs are carried from one place to another by the blast barrels, the kongs will have to find Enguarde and get on him. Then the player has to go back through the level until the kongs reach the last blast barrel that the apes were shot from. By simply getting in that barrel and getting fired out, the player can perform many glithes:
- The first of these is that Diddy will be walking, not swimming, behind Donkey Kong. The player can get off Enguarde and swim to his side. Then the player will press select. If done correctly, the camera will freeze and Diddy alone will be able to walk around as if it were a land level.
- While still frozen, the player could jump back on Enguarde. Diddy should turn into a greenish-blue color and hover in mid-air. This allows the player to control Enguarde by himself, which results in the Kongs being left behind if the player continues on through the level.
- While on Enguarde, the player can press the Y button and then the A button once quickly after. Enguarde should turn into another greenish-blue Diddy that the player will be able to control. If the player touches the other floating Diddy it will turn the player back into Enguarde.
- While using Enguarde once again, the player needs to press the A button quickly and repeatedly will permanently turn him into a reddish color with either DK or Diddy following behind.
As this new red Enguarde, the player has to have Diddy follow behind him (if Donkey is behind the player, the player will have to press the A button twice and the Kongs should switch). Then the player has to press the the Y button and the player then has to press the A button. This results in Enguarde transforming into an oddly colored Donkey Kong that hovers in the air while the player is left controlling the Kongs once again. The player can redo this with DK following behind the player while the player is controlling Enguarde, and a normally colored Diddy should be hovering in the air instead of the oddly colored Donkey Kong.
[edit] Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
[edit] Castle Crush Glitch
Note: This glitch only works in the Super Nintendo version. It is currently unknown if it exists in the Virtual Console port.
The Castle Crush glitch has become infamous among fans as the game's most fatal glitch. For players brave enough to try it, enter Castle Crush with Diddy Kong as the lead character (Dixie is optional but cannot be the lead character). Pick up the first DK Barrel and hold it against a wall. Drop the barrel and quickly pick it up again; if done correctly, the barrel will break but Diddy will act as if he's still holding it. Upon throwing the "invisible barrel", various things could happen. Commonly the Rambi Barrel will appear and cause Diddy to transform into various things, including a solid black sprite of Kleever or a multi-colored Klubba, to name a few. The effects are short lived though as any attempts to move will result in the game crashing.
The aftermath of the glitch varies. Though some have been lucky to escape with no ill effects, others have reported save data being erased, or the game becoming corrupted to the point of being near unplayable. Therefore, it is wise to avoid this glitch at all cost.
[edit] Super Mario World
[edit] Freeze Glitch
In Super Mario World there's a glitch that freezes the game. The player must find a Fire Flower first then a Feather. Have Mario become Cape Mario and then get Yoshi. Next go to a world that contain berries. Now the player must drop the Fire Flower and let Cape Mario touch it and at the same time get Yoshi to eat the berry. This causes the game to freeze and as well make Mario flash from red to green like if he touched a starman. It can also have a more helpful effect of infinitely raising the players coins, giving them up to 99 lives in the process. The the player can leave the level by pausing the game and pressing Select.
[edit] Falling through the floor
In Vanilla Dome 2, it's possible to fall through the floor via a glitch. Towards the end, the player has to take a left and go through the "secret" passage. Then the player has to get a Buzzy Beetle shell and toss it at the first two blocks. Then the player has to quickly get a running start and slide under the blocks before they harden. Once the player gets there, he/she must not release the down button. Once the player is completely surrounded, if they press A, they will Spin Jump through the floor, leading to the player's demise.
[edit] Make items go through walls
Only possible in the SMA remake, there are many parts in the game when Yoshi can eat an item and then stand right next to wall and spit it out. For example, in Valley Of Bowser 4 in the part when the player must smash through a row of blocks that has a trampoline near, the player can swallow it with Yoshi, go down the small gap in the floor, turn left, and then spit the jumping board out. It is likely to go through the wall.
[edit] A Shell and a Pipe
In Vanilla Dome 3, the player has to go to the checkpoint near the two orange pipes. The player has to defeat the Beach Koopa and claim its shell. Then the player has to start from the right-hand pipe and take a running jump. The player has to Ttry to aim about 2 blocks under the pipe's top and let go the shell the moment the player hits the pipe. If done correctly, the shell will be stuck in the pipe.
[edit] Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
[edit] Hint Block Glitch
In world 2-7 Lakitu's Wall, Yoshi can eat a Fat Guy for a Giant Egg. When Yoshi arrives to the part with a Car Morph Bubble, he should hit the Hint Block with the Giant Egg to make every thing freeze for a little while. When that is over the stars from above will fall to the ground and Yoshi will be invisible. Yoshi can still walk around while unseen but it will be difficult. If Yoshi jumps through the finish ring while invisible, the whole game freezes and the player will have to reset their Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
[edit] Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
[edit] Through the Chancellor
The player will have to start a new game. When the player first reaches Princess Toadstool's castle, the player needs to go to the room with the Chancellor. There are two rows of three Toads that the player will notice. When the player goes behind the toads, they tell Mario that he should walk properly in between the two rows to greet the chancellor. However, if Mario jumps on a Toad's head, he can get past them. Mario will go around the room by the wall, and sneak up from behind the chancellor. When Mario talks to him, the player will walk through him to greet him.
[edit] Piranha Glitch
The player needs to go to the Bean Valley where the Fly Guy waters the Piranha Plants arranged in a circle. Before he waters it, Mario will have to jump onto a Piranha Plant. When the Fly Guy waters it, the player will be inside of the plant (although it may not appear that way). The Piranha Plant will move around, but it will not be able to initiate battle with the player. However, if the player moves or jump, the player will start fighting with it.
[edit] Stuck in a Yoshi
The player will have to go to Yo'ster Isle. This works best after Mario defeated Boshi. Mario needs to Get on the green Yoshi and then ride over to the racetrack. Mario shall pick a racing Yoshi and the player will be in that Yoshi's path. It's better if Mario does this far ahead of the Yoshi, so Mario will have time to prepare for himself. Mario will have to jump off of the green Yoshi and then talk to him. He'll ask Mario if he wants to Saddle Up. Mario will have to say yes, but he shouldn't jump on. Then Mario needs to wait for the racing Yoshi to get to the player and right when it reaches the Green Yoshi so that they cross paths, Mario will have to jump on the Green Yoshi. If done correctly, Mario will be on the Green Yoshi and stuck inside of the racing Yoshi. The player won't be able to move around. The racing Yoshi will still be running, but in place. If the player does this at just the right moment, the characters' images will look really warped and be inside of each other. To get out, the player can jump or get off the Yoshi. The player can do this with any character that walks around in Yo'ster Isle, but it's easiest with the racing Yoshis because their paths are already set.
[edit] Super Mario 64
[edit] The Dark World
Mario can stumble upon a glitched level, known by fans as the Dark World, by accidentally becoming trapped within the walls of the steeple atop Princess Peach's Castle. It's actually nothing more than the small area behind the castle's front door. If Mario runs into the door, Mario will go through it and end up in another glitched area behind the door inside the castle. The Dark World can be escaped by jumping through the wall above the door inside the castle.
[edit] Zombie Mario
This glitch can be done in any level with a Cannon and Bob-ombs, but it is easiest to do in Bob-omb Battlefield. First, the player must get their health down to one or two slices. Then, Mario has to get a Wing Cap. Then, the player must grab a Bob-omb, and quickly run in front of a cannon, with Mario's back faced to the cannon. If done correctly, the Bob-omb will explode, Mario will fall backwards into the cannon, and the player can then aim the cannon. After firing themselves, despite the player doesn't have any HP left, the player can still fly around freely, if the player had gotten the Wing Cap earlier. The glitch ends, by Mario dying, when he touches the ground.
[edit] Water Glitch
In the Whomp's Fortress, if Mario picks up a certain block, the player should keep trying to get it inside the one that leads to the Thwomps, it may either trap the block in there, or Mario will get through it, causing the place to be trapped in a floating flood. If Mario swims too deep, however, he will fall and lose a life.
[edit] 100-coin Star Glitch
In several levels, including Whomp's Fortress, Tall, Tall Mountain, and Rainbow Ride, if Mario collects his 100th coin directly above a bottomless pit, a Star will magically appear as usual, but Mario will be unable to collect this Star because if he touches it, he immediately falls straight down and loses a life before he is able to perform his victory dance.
[edit] Go Through the Roof Glitch
After the player defeats Bowser the second time in Bowser in the Fire Sea, Mario should go to door and run to the pole on the left wall. Then press the jump button (A button) twice. Mario will go through the roof and on to the stairs.
[edit] Endless Stair Glitch
If the player Ground Pounds on the never ending Stairs, the player goes all the way up even if the player doesn't have enough Power Stars.
[edit] Wario Land 3
[edit] The Rolling Glitch
When crouching at the foot of a hill, Wario may get stuck in a tight spot while sliding before he starts rolling. It can be performed at The Stagnant Swamp and The Colossal Hole.
In this case, one will be able to walk as normal, but the game still treats Wario as if he's just rolling. Thus, he can break regular blocks and defeat enemies just by walking through them. Though there is a slight difference, as this state he will even stay if he walks on a hill, enters doors, crouches, performs a normal attack or a Smash Attack.
It will end if Wario gets attacked by an enemy, climbs up a ladder, enters a Pipe or if he hits a wall with a regular attack. In the last case, the animation will occur that can normally be seen when rolling Wario smashes at a wall.
[edit] Paper Mario
[edit] The Herringway Glitch
Herringway can be morphed into a normal Bumpty or become invisible if the player pauses the game right after Mario and Herringway go into the mayor's room and right before initiating the conversation with the detective during Chapter 7. If Herringway becomes a normal Bumpty, the game will freeze when the mayor gives him the present. Upon freezing, a glitch menu will appear on the screen.
Herringway as a normal Bumpty. |
[edit] Super Mario Sunshine
[edit] Broken Camera in Gelato Beach
First, the player must search for a dune bud that leaves a large foot imprint. From there, the player should squirt the Dune Bud, and, just before it reveals the imprint in the ground, Ground Pound. If this is done correctly, the screen will zoom out up to the sky, and turn downwards to reveal Isle Delfino. The camera then zooms in all the way down to Mario. (Mario is sometimes seen Ground Pounding downwards with the camera until it reaches Gelato Beach.)
[edit] Frozen Yoshi and Floating Items
If Mario lets a Yoshi eat an enemy or fruit, but dismounts it while Yoshi's tongue is pulling it in, the Yoshi will remain in its bent-down position with the fruit or enemy floating right in front of it. The Yoshi's saddle will also hover slightly above the dinosaur's actual flesh.
[edit] Pulling Yoshi Food from the Air
The player must perform the above glitch and stay in the area where it was performed. If Mario hops back on the frozen Yoshi, he can continue to ride him around normally. But the first time after Mario hops back on that the Yoshi sticks his tongue out, the item that was frozen in front of him will suddenly appear. If the item was a fruit, it can conveniently be used to automatically refill Yoshi's juice capacity.
[edit] Blasting Through the Wall
If the player gets the Turbo Nozzle in Delfino Plaza, and heads to the fruit stands, something very odd may occur. While standing slightly against the wall behind the papayas and pineapples (in which case Mario's body should touch the wall, but he should not be directly facing it), Mario can blast his Turbo Nozzle, and before reaching the durians, he will go right through it into some underground area. If Mario stops, he'll automatically die, but it is possible that Mario will come across an underground pipeline to run into.
[edit] Walking Underwater
If Mario walks through the sewers the player can find a path that leads Mario behind the Shine Gate, he will find a few pools of water. If he swims into the lowest one that is blocked off by a gate, if the player presses B in front of it, one of many glitches will occur. Mario will either be able to walk underwater in the pool without an underwater life meter, go through the gate and fall straight down into an area behind the waterfall, or fall into the sewers. If the first result occurs, then Mario can walk underwater as described above. He will walk as though he is on land. However, note that if Mario gets his whole body out of the water (For example, using the Rocket Nozzle), when he lands in the water, he will swim normally again. If the second result occurs Mario will land in a strange underground area. Running forward will result in hitting the wall behind the waterfall and dying, however running backwards will make him fall into the sewers. In both that and the third results, the sewers can be navigated and exited normally.
[edit] Walking Underwater v.2
When Mario starts, he will be in front of the Shine Gate. Mario must swim over to the log floating in front of Mario and try surfacing under it. It will take a few tries, but if done correctly, Mario will experience one of two glitches. He will either be able to walk underwater or he will be in the blue screen of death.
[edit] The SMS Blue Screen of Death
In Gelato beach, Mario will have climb to the highest rope, then jump off to the west, if the player presses b at the right time before hitting the invisible barrier, Mario will fall back through the ground and into a blue void. Then Mario loses a life.
The player can also do it Delfino Plaza by going on the top of the Banana Tree and the player will have to jump and hover to an open window. The player will have to be above the open window, where the roof and building meet. Next, the player will be inside the building, in the Blue Room of Death. Mario will have to jump about every 3 seconds to avoid death. For Mario to get out, he'll have to do a Triple Jump, which puts Mario in the sewers.
A similar glitch occurs in Noki Bay. After a certain manuever into a puddle at the base of the cliff from the first Shine Sprite, Mario will be underwater, but also under the cliff itself. If he swims too far into the cliff, he will lose a life upon reaching a blue screen of death.
[edit] Watermelon Cutter Glitch
First, the player needs a Yoshi. The player will have to go to Gelato Beach. Once the player is there, Mario will have to ride a Yoshi and get onto the Cutter, which causes it impossible for the player to get on it again, because once the player gets on, Mario will get flung off because of the cutter. The Yoshi will just stay there. To end this glitch touch the cutter with Mario and jump on Yoshi walk of like nothing ever happened
[edit] Bubba Proof
In Gelato Beach, the player can stop a Bubba from dragging Mario underwater if the player picks up a piece of fruit (excluding durians) and starts swimming with it. A Bubba will follow Mario around (and sometimes even pass through him), but won't be able to drag him down.
[edit] Nozzle Box Glitch
When Mario begins at Delfino Plaza, he should head to the South-East bell tower. Mario should stand on the first ledge and face the Grand Pianta Statue. The player should turn the camera until it is inside the tower. If done correctly, the player can see a Rocket Nozzle Box.
[edit] Different Nozzle Box Glitch
Grab a Yoshi and jump on a nozzle box with it. Get off Yoshi as soon as you jump and get the nozzle. If done correctly, Yoshi will be inside a nozzle box!
[edit] Mirror Glitch
When Mario goes to a place with a mirror such as Gelato Beach, he should look into a mirror and see that FLUDD's head seems to be missing in the reflection.
[edit] Unknown Manhole
During the flood in Delfino Plaza, the player should swim over to the South-East bell tower. Mario should swim under the water to the window and the player will see a manhole that wasn't there before the flood.
[edit] Secret Book
When Mario goes to episode 3 of Noki Bay, there are small ruins at the bottom of the bottle. At the side of the ruins are two small openings. The player must go into the one that has a wooden-looking door. Mario will have to put the camera on zoom-in and Mario should look around until the player sees a small closed book lying on the ground. There seems to be no way of getting to it.
[edit] Flooded Shine
During the events of the flood in Delfino Plaza, the player should use the walk underwater v.2 glitch as shown above and go to the beach area of the city. Mario will have to spray around the sand near the umbrellas until the player sees yellow sparks fly. Mario should focus by squirting water there until it reveals an image of a Shine Sprite that only gives the player one coin.
[edit] Under The Cannon
During any episode of Pinna Park (excluding episodes one and two) Mario can try to ground pound the Pianta working in the cannon. It will take a few tries, but if done correctly, Mario will go under the Pianta and inside the cannon. This is also possible, in Delfino Plaza, on the cannon that leads to Pinna Park. (Before the cannon to Pinna Park is working)
[edit] Slow and Speedy Boss Battle Music
In this episode, the player will have to defeat the Giant Green Wiggler. When the player hears the slowdown, the player will have to press the Z Button. The player will hear slower, deeper music. Also, with correct timing, the player will hear a speedy version of the music in a high note.
[edit] Exploding Fruit
Any time in Delfino Plaza (excluding the flood), if the player sprays the pinapples behind the Pinta statue, in the small pool or the pears to the side of the entrance to Noki Bay, in the other small pool, they will explode into water as if the player threw them into the ocean.
[edit] Crazy FLUDD
When directly under a Shine Sprite, (Excluding Secret Levels) if the player is holding R all the way down while jumping, Mario gets the Shine Sprite and FLUDD will act as it is squirting.
[edit] Fruit gone missing
When Mario has a fruit (Excluding a Durain) if Mario gets behind a sign or a tree or anything bigger than Mario the shadow of the fruit will dissapear.
[edit] Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
[edit] Make Bobbery Disappear
Bobbery can be forced offscreen in this glitch. It can be used any time after Bobbery joins Mario's party. In Rougeport, the player should go anywhere near the gate right next to the passage above. Tossing him makes Bobbery go off the flipbook, and as long as Mario doesn't leave the area, talk to someone, or change partners, he'll be walking alone.
[edit] More of Ms. Mowz
During the battle with Sir Grodus, the player can make Ms. Mowz divide into three. When it says "All direct attacks will be countered", the player will have to take out Ms. Mowz (If Mario already has her out, the player can just keep her out) and do the Love Slap attack. After it's over, the game makes the player repeat the process but instead of the control stick being in the picture the A button will be there. The player will have to do nothing. Then Ms. Mowz will divide in to three. The real one goes back with Mario, the second one will stay by Grodus and the last one jumps behind him and runs in midair.
[edit] Super Paper Mario
[edit] Disappearing Pixls
Pixls can be forced to go behind the background of a stage. It can only happen when one of the characters is in a background area near a Warp Pipe, and can only be used by Boomer. First, the player must place Boomer in a area in which one of the warp pipes can not be seen. Then, they must go down the unseen warp pipe before Boomer goes off. If this is done correctly, Boomer will go off and go behind the background. When the player is in the next area, Boomer will still be with him/her.
[edit] Yold Town Shop Void
In the shop in Yold Town, a player should use Mario. The player should then flip to 3D, and go behind the small sign next to the counter. Then, in 2-D, the player should walk towards the counter. If done right, Mario should go through the sign, and be partially inside of it. Then, if they flip back to 3D, Mario will do his "falling" animation, and fall through the floor. If the player moves the control pad, the screen will scroll away from the shop and into the void behind it. After about 10-15 seconds, Mario will reappear.
[edit] Merlee's Mansion Game Freeze
In the PAL versions of Super Paper Mario if the player goes into all the rooms indicated by Mimi the game will freeze.
Note: This may not work on all PAL versions of the game.
[edit] Super Mario 64 DS
[edit] Never Ending Crouch
As any character, they should go through the door that leads to the character select and go out again. The player should do a back flip. The player shall end up on top of the door. Then the player should crouch and must let the button go. The character being played will still be crouching.
[edit] Fence Flying
As any character, the player should go to Bob-omb Battlefield. Then they should go into the tall cannon near the Koopa. They should aim for the bottom of the floating island, and fire. If Up is held the entire time, the player will be pushed through the fence and end up extremely high in the air, above the mountain. While performing Fence Flying, the player should hold Up, and they will eventually be sent out of the level's boundaries, making them lose a life after about ten seconds.
[edit] Fence Flying 2
The player should go to the cannon in the area right past a Chain Chomp. They should aim all the way to the right, and the slowly down, until they can see a few pixels of a tree. After firing, if they hold Up, they can be forced high in the sky after crashing into the fence. While performing Fence Flying 2, the player should hold Up, sending them out of the level's boundaries that makes them lose a life.
[edit] Klepto's Version Detector Glitch
In Shifting Sand Land, the player should hold the wood box on the far side of the pyramid. Then they should stand somewhere where Klepto can hit them If they don't move, when he hits them the game crashes if the player has Version 1. If the game does not freese they have Version 2.
[edit] Multiple Caps
In Snowman's Land the player needs to jump in the cannon and launch Mario/Wario/Luigi at the tree on the Snowman's mountain. After that, the player must get Mario's/Wario's/Luigi's hat blown off by the Snowman. When the player lands, the player has to grab the box near the pile of ice blocks and throw it at the Snowman wearing the hat. After that the player needs to put the player's hat back on and repeat the process. When the player defeats the Snowman, two hats will appear. The player must collect both hats. The number of hats will double each time the player repeats this. After about sixteen hats the DS will begin to lag and there will be piles of hats (more than one hat in the same place). When there are too many hats the game will crash.
[edit] Double Triple Jump
As Mario, go to any course that has a red box with a feather in it. The player has to get the Wing Cap and wait until the wings start to disappear. The player has to quickly triple jump. The Player will do a Triple Jump twice.
[edit] Non-Completable Mission
This glitch works in the Silver Star level of Snowman's Land. First, the player should collect every Star. Then, the player has to head for the igloo. After entering the igloo, the player should lose all of their silver stars by bumping into enemies. After that, exit the igloo. Notice how the silver stars have disappeared from anywhere in the entire level. The player's only choices are to complete another mission or exit the level.
This glitch was fixed for European releases of SM64DS. As a side effect, the next (arguably more serious) glitch became possible.
[edit] Frozen Snowman's Land
The player will have to go to Snowman's Land and do the Silver Stars level. The player has to collect all five Silver Stars, then go to the igloo. Once there, the player has to go back outside the igloo to find out that the Silver Stars have reappeared. Collecting one of them results in everything freezing except the player. Also, the enemies vanish completely. The player has only two choices on getting out: Either jump into the pond and get knocked out by the freezing water, or simply turn the power off.
[edit] Falling Off the Screen in Bob-omb Battlefield
To perform this glitch the player must choose the Silver Star mission. The player must collect each Silver Star, and then take damage so as to allow all five Stars to follow behind them. Next, the player must cause every Star to fall into one cannon. After that, jumping in the cannon will cause Mario to collect each Silver Star, inhibiting the cannon's launch animation. Due to this, Mario will fall into the bottom of the cannon hole and because it is not solid, he'll fall through and into the abyss.
[edit] Zoom Out
This glitch can be completed in any area with a down-moving moving elevator. To initiate it, the player must put any character on the elevator, and as it is moving down, he or she must go into first-person mode (X-Button). In this mode, and while the elevator is still moving down, if up or down is pressed, the camera will zoom out away from the character and give a view of the entire area the character is in. Once zoomed out, pressing left or right on the control pad will move the area to allow the player to see it all. To get out of the mode, the player just needs to press X again or press up or down. Note: This glitch may or may not be possible with an upward-moving elevator.
[edit] Yoshi Carrying an Invisible Oject
The player must go somewhere with at least 2 Goombas as Yoshi. Yoshi must swallow one of the Goombas and turn it into a Yoshi Egg. Then the player must jump on the other Goomba and press A. With good timing the Egg will explode and Yoshi will be carrying an invisible object.
[edit] Dissapering Objects
The player has to do the above glitch twice and parts of the level will be invisible but still touchable such as signs, red coins, posts and doors. If the player stays in the level for more than a few minutes the game will crash.
[edit] Misplaced Graphics
In Whomp's Fortress, after passing the pushy walls, there are two Brick Blocks facing the mountaintop. The player has to look from any other direction and the Brick Blocks will be gone. The player can go right through the brick either way.
[edit] New Super Mario Bros.
[edit] Frozen Ghost House
Playing as either Mario or Luigi in World 4-Ghost House, the player has jump onto one of the spindials that turns around and takes the player to the next room. However the player must jump right on the very left or very right of it, then jump straight off. The whole room will freeze. The player can smash blocks but they will be frozen as half destroyed blocks. The player can also fire fireballs but they will freeze too. If the player goes on the spindial properly or touches an enemy the level will go back to normal.
[edit] Trapped
This glitch happens in World 4-Ghost House, and Mario or Luigi needs a Mega Mushroom in the character's item slot. They should go to the place where the freezing glitch happens (the "room" with the single Boo and invisible blocks in it), and go on into the next room (the one that is barren except for a Balloon Boo and a one-way platform). To start the glitch, they should aply the Mega Mushroom and go onto one of the objects that takes the player go to the next room "properly". They will have their head stuck in a pipe. They can't move horizontally, but they should attempt to jump to start the glitch. Mario/Luigi will not be able to jump, and they will be taken back to the previous room. To fully activate the glitch, they should jump off and the spindial will go the previous room. All they can do now is exit the level, or if they haven't completed the level, the player should wait for time to expire.
[edit] Bowser Jr. Knockout
In any of the first Bowser Jr. battles (ones where he doesn't throw green koopa shells.), if the player should has a Mega Mushroom in stock, the glitch becomes possible. When the player is in the battle and activates it, and eats, it, and stands still, when Bowser Jr. touches Mario/Luigi, Bowser Jr. will become unconscious. If the player waits until they turn back to normal, and jump on Bowser Jr., this will make him knocked out on the floor. Even if the player is jumping on him won't do anything. The only way to attack him then is to do a ground pound.
[edit] Walking Backwards
In the World 4 map after unlocking a green Toad House, the player can put Mario/Luigi in the overworld map on 4-1 and press down. The player will now walk backwards untill the player reaches the bend.
[edit] Walking In The Air
In World 4-6 the player should go up to where there are three green pipes on a rock above, each with a Piranha Plant. The player should stay there and wait for Dorrie to leave. The player should wait about 10 to 20 more seconds. Mario or Luigi should go to the far left, but not on the ledge. The player should run and jump, if the player is far enough Mario/Luigi should be walking in the air. However when the player gets to the pipe Mario or Luigi will be teleported to somewhere and the player will be invisible and unable to move.
[edit] Under The Flagpole
In world 2-5, use the cheat to make the camera only move right (L R L R X X Y Y on the map after completing the game). The player should have any power-up (Excluding the Mini Mushroom). The player should go through the level untill the player sees a Boomerang Bro. The player should go to the right of where it was, and jump into the quicksand. The player must keep hold of right on the D-pad while the player is sinking. When the player starts to move, Mario or Luigi should still be keeping hold of right, then the player must press A. Mario or Luigi will appear in a place that has gray blocks behind them, as they have to go down. The player should go on a Blockhopper. The player must jump when they are near the celling near a Star Coin. The player must keep jumping until they're stuck in a rock. The player will be at the end of the level, and under the flagpole. The player should jump when the player is not moving and then the player will be past the flagpole.
[edit] Above The Ceiling
In World 3-Tower the player must go along the way until they fight Bowser Jr.. Step on him twice. Then he will go his usual routine trying to jump on the player. Time it right so when he jumps to the highest point, the player can jump on him. Also the player must use the tequnique where they can jump higher off an enemy. Aim towards the ceiling, if done correctly, Mario should be on top of the roof. The usual animation of Bowser Jr. running away will show and the Mario face signal turns halfway because the player can't see Mario.
[edit] Super Mario Galaxy
[edit] Enter the small house
The player must head to the Deep Dark Galaxy and choose a level where the cannon can be used. Next the player should take Mario/Luigi to the shrinking planet (Located in Deep Dark's sky). Now the player shall see two small houses. Next, Mario/Luigi must kneel and enter the door of the house with the blue roof. Mario/Luigi will be in the house. The house's walls aren't solid from the inside, so to leave the house Mario/Luigi will just have to walk out.[edit] Climb Slippery Slopes
Although Star Spinning is normally not possible on slippery slopes, the player can bypass this restriction. To do so, the player must press the control stick in the direction Mario is facing, jump, then Star Spin while reversing the stick to face the opposite direction from Mario/Luigi. This odd glitch can be done multiple times in a row to climb slopes that are otherwise to steep to use. Several sub-glitches make use of this.
[edit] Pull Star Movement Exploit
By repeatedly Star Spinning while using a Pull Star, and grabbing the Pull Star to avoid falling, Mario and Luigi are able to access any area within range of that Pull Star. [1]
[edit] Mario Kart Wii
[edit] Selecting the Same Character
This glitch works only for multi-players. Within the character selection screen, players pick certain character. Then go back using the "B" button twice. Then go forward again to the selection screen. Move the cursor off of the character, but do not pick any other one. When using another controller, by pressing "B" button twice for de-select and go back to the championship select mode. When returning to the characters screen, it will notice how the ring around the selected character is flashing two colors. Then, both players can select the same character. Repeat this process if needed for more players. If the player looks what happens when one player actually selects the character (presses A/2), all the other players have the same animation going on.
[edit] Using the Wrong Vehicle
When moving on towards the Kart/Bike selection screen (with the above glitch activated), if one player has a bike and one is in a kart, the player on the bike may look as though they're riding in a kart and vice versa.
[edit] Super Smash Bros Brawl
[edit] Play as Giant Jigglypuff
First, the player must select the Bridge of Eldin stage. The player should also have a Final Smash prepared. King Bulbin will eventually come and destroy part of the bridge. Soon after, some black matter will restore that part of the bridge. When the matter begins to rebuild the bridge, the player has to use the final smash in midair in the gap. Jigglypuff will begin to inflate while the bridge is getting mended. When the bridge is completely fixed, Jigglypuff should bounce up onto the bridge and she's still giant. Her attacks are completely the same, only that they have a much farther reach. Her movement seems to have slowed somewhat as well. She also becomes a very easy target and is simple to KO, as the slightest touch of the KO range will take her out. With this glitch activated, having Yoshi perform his Egg Lay attack will make Jigglypuff grow even bigger.
[edit] Disappearing Hat
First the player must choose Captain Falcon, and fight Jigglypuff with a green nightcap. Then the player has to get a Smashball and hit Jigglypuff with the Blue Falcon. When Jigglypuff lands it won't have a hat on.
