Lakitus in ''[[Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels]]'' retain their behavior and role from ''Super Mario Bros.'' They are first encountered in [[World 4 (Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels)|World 4-1]]. They retain the same appearance and throw Spiny's eggs in the same way they did in the predecessor, however, they are slightly darker. However, in some of the later levels, Lakitu appears lower in the sky, making it easier for Mario or Luigi to defeat him. They also sometimes appear underwater, as seen in World 9. In underwater levels, the outline of Lakitu's cloud is colored gray like with all green enemies encountered there, including the "green" Cheep Cheeps, but this is reverted in the ''Super Mario All-Stars'' version, where all green enemies are colored normally regardless of what level environment they appear in.
