In their debut appearance, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Krunchas slowly move back and forth while swinging their heavily-muscled arms, defeating a Kong if they come in contact with them. Krunchas can be defeated by Team-up throws, Animal Friends, strikes from a crate or a barrel, and contact with an invincible Kong. Attempting to attack a Kruncha in any other way causes it to turn bright red as it roars in anger. In their enraged state, they walk around faster, and attempting to attack it with a Team-up throw will only result in the defeat of the thrown Kong. After a while, an angry Kruncha reverts to its calm, default state.
In their debut appearance, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Krunchas slowly move back and forth while swinging their muscles. Their muscular body protects from Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong's jumping and roll attacks. If the Kongs attempt either attack on a Kruncha, it turns bright red in anger, lets out a roar, and moves around faster. After a while, the Kruncha reverts to its normal state. If a Kong gets hit by a Kruncha, the player loses that Kong. Krunchas can be defeated from either an Animal Friend; being hit by a crate or a barrel; being touched by an invincible Kong; or from a Team-up throw. However, red Krunchas are unaffected by Team-up throws, and if Diddy or Dixie is thrown at a red Kruncha, he or she is defeated. Krunchas have an uncommon, light pink variant only encountered in two levels: Castle Crush and Clapper's Cavern. Pink Krunchas behave similarly to their regular counterparts, except they walk off of platforms and move even faster while angry. In the ending Cast of Characters, a Kruncha appears under the Kremling Kuthroats category.

Krunchas are commonly light blue. However, a rare, light pink variant can be encountered in Castle Crush and Clapper's Cavern. Unlike their blue counterparts, pink Krunchas would walk off platforms, and they also move at an even quicker pace when enraged. In the ending Cast of Characters, a Kruncha appears under the Kremling Kuthroats category.

In the Game Boy Advance version, a Kruncha can also be defeated from being jumped on while Team-up is active. There is also a photograph of Kruncha in Red-Hot Ride, and it appears under the second page of the Scrapbook.
