In the [[Yoshi's Island (series)|''Yoshi's Island'' series]], Gargantua Blarggs have maintained a consistent behavior. When a [[Yoshi (species)|Yoshi]] approaches attempt to block [[Yoshi (species)|Yoshi]]'s path by rising from the lava as he approaches. To pass by a Gargantua Blargg, Yoshi must throw an [[Yoshi's Egg|egg]] into its mouth. The Gargantua Blargg will then sink into the lava, allowing Yoshi to continue past it. However, it re-emerges after a few seconds. Unlike the smaller [[Blargg (small)|Red Blargg]], Gargantua Blarggs cannot be defeated with an [[Anywhere POW]]. In ''[[Yoshi's Island DS]]'', Gargantua Blarggs only appear in [[Gilbert the Gooey's Castle]], but the game introduces a much taller [[Gargantua Blargg (tall)|variant of the same name]] that can destroy dense rocks. In the game ''[[Tetris Attack]]'', a Gargantua Blargg appears as a ruler of the "Lava World", being allied with [[Pyro Guy|Flamer Guy]]. In here, as many other old enemies of Yoshi, was shown as a friend of Yoshi, being enchanted by Bowser to work for him. It replaces the flame fairy, Flare, from the original ''[[Tetris Attack#Panel de Pon|Panel de Pon]]''.

It takes three yarn balls to make the Gargantua Blargg hide back down into the lava. They mainly appear in the level [[Lava Scarves and Red-Hot Blarggs]]. There is also one in the fire area of [[King Bowser's Castle (Yoshi's Woolly World)|King Bowser's Castle]]. If Yoshi is given an [[ice watermelon]] by the "All-you-can-eat ice watermelons!" [[Power Badge (Yoshi's Woolly World)|Power Badge]], he can use the melon to ultimately take down a Gargantua Blargg with one blow.
