They are small beetle-like insects with [[Mandibug]]-style faces that appear mostly in the [[Honeyhive Galaxy]] and [[Gold Leaf Galaxy]] in ''Super Mario Galaxy'', and the [[Yoshi Star Galaxy]], the [[Puzzle Plank Galaxy]], and the [[Honeyhop Galaxy]] in ''Super Mario Galaxy 2''. When the player approaches one of them as regular [[Mario]], the Flipbug makes a frantic attempt to flee from him, and will then fall onto its back in fear, making it vulnerable to attack. If Mario touches one while they fly away from him, he remains unharmed, and could even [[spin]] them if so desired. However, if the player approaches one as [[Bee Mario]], they will assume an "angry" expression, unfold their wings, and slowly hover after him, which can cause damage. This implies that Flipbugs have a strong dislike of [[Honeybee]]s.
