| The general strategy for this boss is to wall jump on either side of the battlefield and get Donkey Kong to somersault into ''Thunder Roc'''s black egg. Once the egg has been damaged, the boss will start to get weak in which case ''Donkey Kong'' will be able to get a whole of the boss' egg and start scratching it down in which will cause the boss some great damage. Eventually, Donkey Kong will let go of the egg and drop down.

| As Thunder Roc starts getting weaker he will spin upwards in anger, causing his feathers to spread across the field (not threatening Donkey Kong, however.)

| Once it is defeated, the black egg will explode causing the feathered creature itself to explode shortly afterward.
