The Secret Aquarium is one of the secret courses in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The entrance to the course is to the right of the painting into Jolly Roger Bay, through a small hole up above on the wall. This level and The Princess's Secret Slide are the only two hidden courses outside the Bowser courses to retain their original names in the DS remake.

The level itself is fairly easy, as drowning is the only way for Mario to die while in this place. Also, the many Coins in the level will help prevent Mario's health/oxygen from depleting. There is a Red Coin at the bottom of each of the room's four corners, while the other four are floating around the center.

The Secret Aquarium is a large fish tank filled with water. There is no place for the player to surface for air, so they have to collect coins in order to avoid drowning. There are 40 Yellow Coins in rings with Red Coins in the center of the rings and on the room's floor. The only Power Star to collect is the one that appears when the player collects all eight of the Red Coins around the aquarium.

The entrance to the level is in the same room as the entrance to Jolly Roger Bay. If Mario faces away from the painting and looks at the other end of the room, he will find two holes in walls. The hole on Mario's right contains a 1-Up Mushroom, while the left one is the entrance to the level.
While not physically changed in Super Mario 64 DS, the course features music absent from the original game: the full percussion version of the Dire, Dire Docks theme.
