Only popping up for a few years for a limited time is M&M’s Cookies & SCREEEM flavor.  A typical M&M’s candy shell, followed by a thin layer of SOMETHING, then a layer of dark chocolate, finishing with a white chocolate core.  Perhaps that thin layer of whatever is where the flavor comes in, or perhaps I have not looked at the candy coating this closely before, but in my picture there does appear to be a distinct layer.  I was ACTUALLY hoping to find their [https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/mms-creepy-cocoa-crisp-halloween-flavor/ Creepy Cocoa Crisp] flavor but ended up finding thing, and having already put the header ‘stupid m&m flavors’ in my notes I simply had to commit.  Physically, they’re large, not the standard size of regular M&M’s but rather like the peanut butter filled M&Ms.  [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSRb5nyaygs Other reviews] will say they’re ‘almost spot-on to eating an Oreo cookie’, which everyone knows that this is the point of anything that’s ‘cookies & cream’ flavored.  My take, though, is that it’s nothing like an Oreo.  [[File:HalfBaked_187_3.jpg|250px|right|thumb|Waste of a filling space.]]The intended flavor is pretty nebulous, generally a vanilla ice cream with chocolate cookie crumbles smashed within it, and in my experience the entire draw of the flavor is the textural qualities of the cookie pieces.  “If you love Oreo cookies, you’re gonna love these,” but what is it that people like about eating an Oreo?  Is it the flavor?  I feel it’s more the crumbly cookie meshing with the smooth and pasty cream, the experience of pulling it apart, or biting into it all at once, perhaps dunking it in milk until it turns into mush.  When it’s simply a flavor and nothing more, it just comes off as more of a non-committal vanilla, and with these Cookies & Cream M&M’s I don’t even get that; merely a dark chocolate flavor that’s cut with white.  They’re not bad, just pretty boring when compared to how hard the package design went; they taste maybe just one degree more chocolatey than a regular M&M and it may be their girth that contributes to that more than whatever artificial flavors they pumped in.  [https://www.mms.com/en-us/mms-cookies-scream-chocolate-halloween-candy-7.44oz-bag/p/mms-cookies-and-screamdescription Their website] also kind of ease the reader into how distant the flavor is with these, stating that they “(...) may even remind you of your favorite creme-filled cookies!”  I don’t want to be REMINDED, I want to be TOLD and SHOWN.  I think what I’d want to see, instead of a trick of two chocolates to simulate something else entirely, for it to be more like the Peanut Butter M&M’s that have a creamy inside, but instead actual Oreo-esque cream gunk, perhaps with some cookie crumbs.
