Mugly is a monster-like boss who is yellow at first. He walks on all fours and has a huge mouth with many white, crooked teeth. Mugly has two lazy eyes and is covered with red spikes that he can willfully retract. During Mugly's second phase, he becomes orange instead of yellow. In Mugly's third and final phase, he turns from orange to red. There is a target-like design on his back, which the Kongs must jump on during the battle while Mugly's spikes are retracted.
Mugly is a four-legged, yellow monster-like creature. He has a large mouth with a few teeth, each being crooked, and a large tongue. Mugly has two lazy eyes and red spikes on his back, which he can retract at will. During the second phase of the battle, Mugly turns orange, and in the third and final phase, he turns from orange to red. Mugly has a target-like design on his back, which indicates his vulnerable spot that the Kongs must jump on while Mugly's spikes are retracted.

===Attacks===
===Attacks===
Mugly only has four attacks. His basic attack consists of him running from one side of the arena to the other. During this time, his spikes are retracted, which makes him vulnerable to a jump attack. Mugly can also bounce along the stage, trying to crush Donkey and Diddy beneath him. His spikes are also retracted during this attack.
Mugly has two basic attacks: for the first one, Mugly runs from one side of the arena to the other. The second one has Mugly jump high and attempting to land below onto Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. During both attacks, Mugly's spikes are retracted, allowing the Kongs to attack him.

Mugly performs the same moves in the second and third phases of the battle except faster than the previous phase of the battle. In the latter two phases, Mugly creates a huge shockwave from landing. In both phases, if Mugly hits into a wall, he becomes dizzy temporarily; the Kongs have an opportunity to jump on Mugly.
Mugly moves quicker when he turns orange, even moreso when he is red. In both phases, when Mugly performs a high jump and lands, he generates a large shockwave. While either orange or red, if the Kongs avoid Mugly as he charges at them, he may hit into a wall, causing Mugly to become dizzy temporarily and giving the Kongs a brief opportunity to jump onto Mugly.
