An '''Elite Gritty Goomba''' is a stronger version of the [[Gritty Goomba]]s, appearing in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga]]''. They can be found in [[Gwarhar Lagoon]]. In the original game, they were simply called '''Gritty Goombas''', just like their weaker counterparts. It wasn't until the remake, ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]]'', that they were given their own name to distinguish them.  

Like Gritty Goombas, they are swathed in cloth (resembling a mummy), and don sunglasses with a spike and colored flag protruding from their head. Elite Gritty Goombas are capable of summoning sandstorms and using them as a cover while trying to run into [[Mario]] and [[Luigi]], who must counter with their [[Hammer]]s. Unlike regular Gritty Goombas, when one of the Elite Gritty Goombas performs their attack, it is harder to determine which brother it is targeting before attempting to ram him.
