The category's and the comments above make it clear that its premise is vague and confusing. Why is this category even a thing? You could argue that a lot of things are animate: [[Goomba]]s, [[Koopa Troopa]]s, [[Cheep Cheep]]s, and even Mario himself. All in all, this category is too vague to even exist, and should just be deleted.
