Dream Figure Skating is an event that appears in the Wii version of the game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. This is one of very few Dream Events that does not contain items. Unlike the normal Figure Skating, in Dream Figure Skating, four characters skate at once. In Festival Mode, players need to reach day 16 after defeating Eggman Nega or day 12 after defeating Jet the Hawk to try this event.

}}
Dream Figure Skating is a Dream Event that appears in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. The objective of the event is to score the most points as a team, with the event taking place in the Dream Figure Centre. To unlock this event, the player must reach day 16 in Individual Festival Mode or day 12 in Team Festival Mode. The starting record for this event is held by Amy with a score of 412.6pt(s).
Gameplay
In this event, the player starts by selecting either the Mario World routine or the Sonic World routine. Each routine features similar elements, but in different sequences. Each player also receives a slightly different set of commands in a different order, determined by the player number. Each element requires a different input, and performing it with better timing will give the player a larger score for the move. Yellow hexagonal element points are steps, and the player must swing the Wii Remote up or down as indicated by the arrow to perform them. Spins are performed on the circular green element points by swinging the Wii Remote in a circular motion. Spirals are performed on the pink lines coming from the square blue element points, and are performed by balancing the character by tilting the Wii Remote. Jumps are performed by swinging the Wii Remote up on red star element points. For red stars with lines leading up to them, the player must move the Wii Remote in the shape shown onscreen to be able to perform an extra jump. Between elements points, the player can also shake the Wii Remote like a conductor's baton in time with the music to score bonus points. At the end of the routine, the player must move the Wii Remote into a certain position to perform a finishing pose at the end of the routine. The team with the overall highest score wins the event.

Depending on the number of players or teams competing in the event, the way that the winner of the event is decided changes. When the event is played in single player mode, the event is always played as a team, however in multiplayer modes additional options to play the event individually, in separate teams or as part of the larger team become available. The party games use a variety of the team set-ups depending on the situation.
Wii Version
In the Wii version of the game, instead of just skating,  sometimes the characters will do other actions, such as jumping over a Fire Bar or attack an enemy. However, the player does that the same way the regular skating is done. There are two music medleys to choose from; Mario World or Sonic World. While the general gameplay in each is identical, the music, backgrounds and story being told in each are different being based on each respective series of games.

Mario World Routine
Mario World
The Mario World routine is based around the four characters chasing a Super Star. The first segment of the routine features a background based on World 1 from New Super Mario Bros., with Warp Pipes, ? Blocks, Brick Blocks and Goombas. The music for the segment is an arrangement of the Ground Theme from Super Mario Bros. The second segment features a backdrop based on Bowser's Castle, with an arrangement of the Castle theme from Super Mario Bros. as the music. The segment features Fire Bars that the characters jump over and Thwomps which are also jumped over, as well as being dodged. The final segment has a background based on the New Super Mario Bros. version of Peach's Castle, with four Toads standing in front of the castle, and the ending theme from Super Mario World as the music.
The Mario World medley tells the story of four characters trying to recover a Power Star from Bowser's Castle.

Sonic World Routine
Sonic World
The first segment of the Sonic World routine takes place with a Green Hill Zone background and an instrumental version of Sonic Heroes as the music. During the segment, the characters collect three Chaos Emeralds, jump using Springs and pass through Rainbow Rings. The characters then follow a Flapper carrying a Chaos Emerald to the next segment, which takes place against a background based on the Death Egg Zone, with Dr. Eggman's theme from Sonic Adventure as the music. During the segment, the characters collect the other four Chaos Emeralds, and it also features Egg Pawns, an additional Flapper and more Springs. Before the third segment, an animation of Perfect Chaos emerging from the ice is shown accompanied by music from the second phase of his boss fight in front of a flooded Station Square background. The third segment takes place in front of the same backdrop, accompanied by an instrumental version of Open Your Heart, and sees the characters use the power of the Chaos Emeralds to defeat Perfect Chaos.
The Sonic World medley tells the story of four characters collecting the 7 Chaos Emeralds and using them to fight a frozen Perfect Chaos who is fought by jumping into him.

Instructions
Music
Rules
#Sonic Heroes from Sonic Heroes
*In Dream Figure Skating, players put on a stage performance to music from Mario and Sonic games.
#Theme of "DR.EGGMAN" from Sonic Adventure
*The Mario stage tells the tale of a star. Grab onto the elusive star and bring peace to the world!
#Perfect Chaos Phase 2 from Sonic Adventure
*The Sonic stage is an adventure involving Chaos Emeralds. Harness their amazing power to thwart the threat that stands before you!
#Open Your Heart (Instrumental) from Sonic Adventure
*The rink is dotted with Element Points, where players swing the Wii Remote as indicated to perform a variety of actions!
*Try for a perfect performance as you navigate these exciting stages and shoot for a record high score!

Controls
DS Version
*The yellow Element Point is a step. Follow the instructions with well-timed upward or downward swings of the Wii Remote.

*The green Element Point is a spin. Twirl the Wii Remote to perform a spin.
Dream Figure Skating also appears in the DS Version referred as Ultimate Figure Skating.
*The red star Element Point is a jump. Swing the Wii Remote upward at the right time to jump!
Here, players compete to get the highest score. Points are earned by perfoming moves correctly and collecting rings. During the event, the player traces the track with the ds to control his or her character, collect the rings, and on the way, overcome several obstacles.
*Some red star Element Points have lines leading up to them.
*Skate along the red line to build jump power. When you approach a red line, commands will be displayed.
*Follow those commands with the Wii Remote to add to the number of jumps you'll perform.
*In Dream Figure Skating, jumps will launch you onto springs or send you into amazing acrobatic maneuvers.
*Skate along the purple line to perform a spiral. Hold the Wii Remote vertically and tilt it left or right to maintain balance.
*Finally, follow the instructions to perform a finishing pose!

Tips
Obstacles
*The point in Figure Skating is to perform in time with the music. Be sure to listen closely!
Spring Jumps
*Element Points aren't everything--wave the Wii Remote like a conductor's baton in time with the music between tricks to max out your score!
The character jumps off a springboard and the player has to connect the numbers that come up on the screen in numerical order. After that, he or she needs to slide up on the screen to jump higher until all the rings in the air are grabbed.

Gallery
Spin
<gallery>
At some point, the player sees a Chaos Emerald circle mark. When the character touches it, he or she needs to quickly trace the yellow line to draw a circle. After that, enemies appear and the player needs to touch the direction he or she wants his or her character to go and deflect the foes before time runs out.

Trivia
Boss Battles
*In the Death Egg's final section in the Sonic World, after the final jump, if the player shakes the Wii Remote after their character attacks the first Flapper, they will Homing Attack the second Flapper and gain extra points as a result.
The last obstacle to come up is fighting the boss. Here, notes come up and the player needs to touch the yellow circle when the notes enter it. The notes will come up at the beat of the music. The player mainly wants to hit the notes to do a step attack and damage the enemy. Once the boss is defeated, the event will end.
