Page 10.</ref> are giant stone faces found mostly in the [[Mushroom Kingdom]]. They are normally depicted as spike-encrusted living stones that are usually rectangular in shape and made their first appearance in the game ''[[Super Mario Bros. 3]]''. They typically attempt to fall on and flatten whoever passes below them, although some move horizontally or diagonally as well. They often make a characteristic grunt when they land, often seen with an angry expression on their face. They can often only be destroyed by strong abilities such as [[Hammer Mario]]'s hammers or by being touched when Mario is [[Mega Mario|giant]] or [[Invincible Mario|invincible]]. Thwomps have drastically changed appearances over the years, with some of its appearances ranging from being covered with spikes as in its original appearance and in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]'', to blue cube-shaped stones that Mario can stand on in ''[[Super Mario 64]]''. The most current, chiseled-edge appearance first appeared in ''[[Super Mario Galaxy]]'', and have made many appearances in later 3D ''Mario'' titles.
