What is Cosmic Mario?I've only heard of Cosmic Clones--Peanutbutter-girl 22:08, 16 March 2011 (EDT)peanutbutter-girl
Cosmic Mario is a character which challenges Mario in certain galaxies with the Cosmic Comet. Its form is the same as Mario, without eyes. His outer appearance is blue, with stars, making it look like it is made of cosmic matter. Voice is slightly pitched up. The player must get to the Power Star before Cosmic Mario in order to win.--Danimario9 15:20, 3 January 2012 (EDT)
Cosmic Mario Would race you too unlike Mario and Luigi's Cosmic Clones which copies your exact move and you must try to avoid clones as well because thay do cause damege and cannot be destroyed in a standard form (certain power ups needed)19:25, 8 May 2012 (EST)

-After trying out SM3DL, I noticed that the Cosmic Clone in Special 1-2 somewhat resembles false copies of characters in SSBB SE ( Dark particles following, purple/colour palette). Should this be mentioned? Trivia boy 19:28, 7 December 2011 (EST)

:No. It's probably a coincidence.

Cosmic Mario?
The article says that the Cosmic Clones of Super Mario 3D Land "seem to conduct the same tactics as Cosmic Mario." I disagree because the Cosmic Clone copies your every movement(like in Super Mario Galaxy 2), it doesn't race you like Cosmic Mario did (it even copies Tanooki Mario/Luigi's floating and tail-swinging). It also cannot be jumped on, also unlike Cosmic Mario who can be jumped on safely. Those are my reasons to disagree, and I think the article should be fixed.

Boss
Dont you think the Big Cosmic Clone in SM3DL should be considered a boss? He's the only enemy in Special 7-Castle, and in that level he uses tactics that Bowser uses. All castles are considered boss levels, so... --Toadshroom 20:26, 18 February 2012 (EST)
Huh? He doesn't use the same tactics as Bowser. You may be thinking about False Bowser, real Bowser, and Dry Bowser's tail attack. You were probably Tanooki Mario/Luigi and happened to swing your tail. As stated in the above section, Cosmic Clones copy your every movement like they did in SMG2. And also, the only difference between regular and big Cosmic Clones is that the bigger ones have a deeper voice and smash bricks that happen to come across their path.
About the boss thing, yes, he IS the only enemy in S7-Castle. Problem is, you cannot defeat him. Sure, he disappears once you reach a certain spot. But, get out of that spot, and he reappears. With that, I think it should not be considered a boss.
Anybody noticed that Cosmic Mario's voice gets deeper and creepier throughout Super Mario 3D Land? NEHAHAHAHAAA!
...? Are you thinking about the bigger ones? No, I havn't...

Has it ever been confirmed that Cosmic Mario/Luigi are actually Cosmic Clones and not just similar concepts? -- 11:24, March 26, 2020 (EDT)
:Good question. -- 12:53, March 26, 2020 (EDT)
::I'm pretty sure that it hasn't been confirmed. 13:09, March 26, 2020 (EDT)
:::Given how the only real similarity is "dark-colored Mario doppelgänger that has an evil laugh," they're really no more similar than Shadow Mario is to either of them. Also, the naming connection is a translation thing, so that's out too. Ultimately, it seems like "connecting dots that aren't really there" to me, particularly since the Cosmic Spirit is in SMG2 and follows the basic design rules of Cosmic Mario/Luigi. Additionally, while they do share several voice clips, many of those are also shared with Shadow Mario iirc and are mostly just heavily-distorted and pitched-up Mario clips. ::::It's drawing lines where none exist. It's better to remove a direct statement and just point out the similarities. 16:02, March 26, 2020 (EDT)
:::::Since there doesn't seem to be any real connection between them, I've gone ahead and removed the statements that Cosmic Mario and Luigi are Cosmic Clones. -- 16:24, March 26, 2020 (EDT)
::::::It sort of is, going by internal names. The Cosmic Clones from Super Mario 3D Land are internally named GhostPlayer, with Big Cosmic Clone being GhostPlayerBig and Mummy-Mes from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker also being GhostPlayer, so they are related from a conceptual standpoint; in contrast, Cosmic Mario from Super Mario Galaxy and Mario's Cosmic Clones from Super Mario Galaxy 2 share the same model, MarioShadow, and for Cosmic Luigi/Clone, LuigiShadow. Clearly, the concept has a developmental evolution from Super Mario Galaxy to Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, so I think it is okay to suggest that Cosmic Mario has a connection to Cosmic Clone. If anything, I'd suggest considering a derived split for the Super Mario 3D Land Cosmic Clone because that one is based on Small Mario and has a separate name in Encyclopedia Super Mario Bros., 「ちびマネック」 (Chibi Manekku, Small Cosmic Clone). Two things. One Doc von Schmeltwick you are incorrect. Supper Mario Broth slowed down Cosmic Mario's voice clips and revealed that Cosmic Mario actually has his own separate voice actor from Mario (so it appears) and two I agree with Link The Lefty. I agree that the two types of Cosmic Clones are different enough to warrant a split. I'manumber1 (talk) 15:42, November 7, 2021 (EST)
:I don't agree with splitting the Galaxy 2 and 3D Land Cosmic Clones because they still function the same (chasing Mario and mimicing his actions), sound the same and look the same. 15:48, November 7, 2021 (EST)

Does anyone have any idea where the term "Shadow Clone" comes from as denoted in the beginning of the article? There is no source listed for it.
