Electric goop, also known as green goo,[1] is a type of goop appearing only on Sirena Beach in Super Mario Sunshine. Its color consists of a mixture of teal and yellow, and it has electricity visibly surging from it. Electric goop is similar to burning goop, since it damages Mario, except even the smallest speck of electric goop can damage him. Additionally, an electrocution effect is shown when Mario touches electric goop, showing his colors inverted momentarily while briefly stunning him in the process. The Pianta cleaning staff members of Hotel Delfino are somehow unaffected by the goop, but Nokis sink into it much as Piantas and Toads do in regular goop. Electric goop, like other goop sources, can be cleaned only from water shot by FLUDD or similar sources. Unlike both regular goop and burning goop, electric goop never spawns Swoopin’ Stus.
In Episode 1, the Manta covers a large portion of the beach in electric goop, causing Hotel Delfino to become stuck underground (much as trees and other structures do into regular goop). The Manta spreads goop behind itself and its copies during the ensuing boss battle. After Mario defeats the Manta, all of the goop disappears and the hotel rises back out of the ground. In Episode 6, electric goop is shaped like a smiling Boo and covers most of the beach in front of Hotel Delfino. Mario has to clean all of the goop off the beach within three minutes to earn a Shine Sprite.
