Yoshi's Piranha Plant Picnic is an official course in Course World in Super Mario Maker 2. It is the ninth level of Ninji Speedruns, running from July 15, 2020 to July 22, 2020. It is set in the ground theme and the New Super Mario Bros. U game style.

Layout

Throughout exploration of this course, the player must equip Yoshi to defeat all twenty five Piranha Plants along the way to obtain the clear condition.

The level itself starts off with a slope, having the player drop down onto a Yoshi which spawns from a Yoshi's Egg. Right away, Mario must have Yoshi engulf two Piranha Plants, one of them being on the ceiling. Next, there is a ? Block containing a Super Mushroom, with a green Koopa Troopa in the area allowing Mario to defeat the three Piranha Plants nearby more efficiently. Mario and Yoshi then come across a stack of four Piranha Plants. Following this is a Pokey, along with two ? Blocks. One of them contains a red Koopa Troopa, the other containing a Fire Flower.

After a Warp Pipe dispensing additional Yoshi eggs, Mario and Yoshi encounter a few different enemies, including one Pokey, a Koopa Troopa, and three Piranha Plants in a row. Heading up and to the left, Mario and Yoshi may find a Dry Bones and three Piranha Plants attached to the wall. By having Yoshi eat the Dry Bones and subsequently spitting out the bones, the Piranha Plants may be defeated all at once. Heading back to the right, Mario and Yoshi will quickly find one Piranha Plant, three winged coins, and a Dry Bones walking along Brick Blocks and a ? Block, the latter containing an additional Fire Flower. Below four nearby Donut Blocks is a 10-Coin Mario is able to collect just as easily with Yoshi's Flutter Jump.

Following this immediately is a pipe producing more Yoshi eggs and a few Brick Blocks, one of which is a Coin Block. Mario and Yoshi, together, must make it higher up and descend a bit, defeating a few Piranha Plants along the way. There is another Yoshi halfway down. At the bottom is a Koopa Troopa next to a 10-Coin, and to the right of that, the final four Piranha Plants underneath a bridge. Once they are defeated, Mario may jump onto the nearby Goal Pole to complete the level, provided all of the previous Piranha Plants have been defeated as well.

Description

"Team up with Yoshi to defeat all 25 Piranha Plants! Try looking for different ways to take them out, like gobbling them up or spitting Koopa Shells at them. You can check Yoshi's controls anytime by selecting Mario's Moves from the pause menu."
