Wuhu Island is a large, tropical, tourist-filled island inhabited by Miis. It mainly appears in games starring Miis, such as Wii Sports Resort, but the island has also made appearances in the Super Mario franchise. The "Wuhu" part of the island's name is derived from the interjection "woo hoo".
Wuhu TownEdit
Wuhu Town is the major settlement on the island, and is home to 20 or more office and residential buildings, a bowling alley, and a basketball court.
The town has a main square with a fountain, and two main roads leading out of the town. There is also a tall building on a grassy elevated area. The pier is where a boat normally docks, and is inaccessible.

Mario Kart seriesEdit
Mario Kart 7 has two tracks the player rides on Wuhu. The tracks include Wuhu Loop (Wuhu Island Loop), which has the drivers race around the entire island and Maka Wuhu (Wuhu Mountain Loop), which has the drivers race around and inside Maka Wuhu, the volcano on the island. A battle course, set on the island, Wuhu Town, is also present, which allows the drivers to battle all around the town area of the island. However, it is impossible to drive over to the separate tiny village known as New Town. The Island Loop track takes place in the day, Maka Wuhu takes place in the evening, and Wuhu Town takes place at night.
As of Mario Kart Tour, Wuhu Loop and Maka Wuhu, are the only race courses from Mario Kart 7 that has yet to appear as classic courses in a later installment.
Wuhu Town returns in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as a classic battle course, now set in the daytime.
Super Smash Bros. seriesEdit
Wuhu Island appears as both a stage of its own and as part of the Pilotwings stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The Wuhu Island stage is a touring stage similar to Delfino Plaza from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, specifically based on Wii Sports Resort. The platform where players fight that travels around the island often stops at various locations on the island such as the starting line of the power-cruising race course, the summit of Maka Wuhu, the fountain in Wuhu Town, the suspension bridge, the sword-fighting arena, a set of rocks out in the ocean, Talon Rock on the mountain, the beach, or a moving boat. Miis can be seen in the background in some areas, such as in the audience at the arena or playing Frisbee on the beach.
In the Pilotwings stage, the battle initially takes place on a red biplane flying over the third island from the original Pilotwings, but it goes on to drop the fighters onto a yellow plane that flies around Wuhu Island, referencing Pilotwings Resort. It flies through rings around the island with Miis visible in the background using jet packs. Eventually, the fighters are dropped back onto the red biplane and the cycle restarts. Unlike the Wuhu Island stage, the Pilotwings stage never lands on the island, instead taking place solely on the planes with the island in the background.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Wuhu Island and Pilotwings share their My Music library with each other, as well as with Summit, Duck Hunt, Hanenbow, PictoChat 2, Living Room, Balloon Fight, Tomodachi Life, Find Mii, and Wrecking Crew

Wii Fit seriesEdit
While doing the Basic Run in the Wii Fit games, 8-bit sprites of Mario and Luigi can be spotted around Wuhu Island. On a few occasions, a Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Mushroom or Super Star sprite may also appear along the side of the trail.
Wii Sports ResortEdit
In Wii Sports Resort, while playing the Island Flyover event, one can hear the Super Mario Bros. theme by flying near the Hillside Cabins area. The name of a ship in this game, the Queen Peach, could be based on Princess Peach. The night information of the Mysterious Ruins (Mysterious Ancient Ruins in the PAL version) states that there is a pit full of skeletons and shells, possibly referring to a Dry Bones.
Pilotwings ResortEdit
Similar to Wii Sports Resort, in Pilotwings Resort, while flying next to New Town at night, the Super Mario Bros. theme can be heard. The nighttime description of the town states that one of the dwellers inside is playing an NES.
Differences in the Mario Kart seriesEdit
Although the island has the same general appearance as in Wii Sports Resort, the courses that take place on the island in Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have several minor changes and differences, most of which are made to accommodate the race courses' layout (apart from the addition of various course elements like ramps).
Wuhu LoopEdit
- The swimming pool behind the Cocoba Hotel where table tennis is played is missing. It is present in Maka Wuhu, however.
- There is a path that leads to the Candle and jumps off the nearby cliff that is not present in the original.
- The formation of the road on the northern part of the island is slightly different, featuring more bendy turns.
- Upon exiting the Island Loop Tunnel 1, there are several blue shades seen attached to the mountain that were not present in the original.
- The player is able to access some Ancient Ruins underneath the rocky peak that they take place on, which was not in the original.
- Immediately after, the Mario Kart 7 version features a raised platform made of the rock wall that can be driven on.
- After the start of the third lap, the path the leads from the Island Loop Tunnel 2 to the Wind Orchard is absent.
- The hotel in the Cabana Lagoon is absent.
Maka WuhuEdit
- The beginning and end of the course feature roads on Sugarsand Beach, which are not in the original.
- The split path to the left of the Red Iron Bridge that leads to the Hilltop Overlook and Heartbreak Peak is absent.
- The path that leads to the footbridge is slightly different, most notably including a thinner alternate path which was not in the original.
- The Swaying Bridge is missing.
- The Footbridge is colored gray instead of red.
- There is now a path not seen in the original that goes under the Weathered Monument, and behind Summerstone Falls.
- The Heart of Maka Wuhu looks completely different. The rock walls inside are now a bleak gray instead of matching the brown pattern that the Maka Wuhu volcano has. The river underneath is now a bottomless chasm. The bridge that connects the gap is replaced by a dash ramp. The actual layout of the path is also different.
- A large rock structure between Duckling Lake and the cliff is removed.
- The Lone Cedar and the entrance into the volcano are completely removed, the former being replaced by a lone rock pillar.
- The Mountain Monument and the path that continues down the mountain afterwards have been removed. In their place is a path that portrudes from the mountain and faces the beaches, where the player will glide off to.
- The stadium in Sugarsand Beach that appears at the end of the track only appears in Mario Kart 7.
Wuhu Town (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version)Edit
- Many background elements are missing, such as the Swaying Bridge, Summerstone Castle, and many of the trees in the Evergreen Grove.
- The buildings have been redesigned and have new roof colors.
- The Wishing Fountain has been replaced by a flower patch.
- The Candle now has a circular base at the bottom of the lighthouse, consequently giving the candle a slightly shorter appearance.
