Wrinkly's Save Cave

Template:Location-infobox Wrinkly's Save Cave is a grotto in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, where Dixie and Kiddy Kong can have their game saved by Wrinkly Kong. There is a Wrinkly's Save Cave in every area of the Northern Kremisphere, including the greater overworld itself.

Wrinkly Kong, having retired from teaching at Kong Kollege (which sank along with the rest of Crocodile Isle), took up residence in several caves. When the Kongs enter the cave, they can see her exercising, playing on her new Nintendo 64, or sleeping. Regardless, Wrinkly will be more than happy to save their games, if only so that she can get back to what she is doing. If Wrinkly is asleep, the Kongs will opt to save their game themselves, although how this is accomplished is unseen.

Wrinkly's Save Cave is also where the Banana Birds will go once they are rescued. If the Kongs return to Wrinkly's Save Cave after rescuing every last Banana Bird, the birds will take them to the Banana Bird Queen, whom they will free, so that she can finally get revenge on Baron K. Roolenstein.

In Donkey Kong Land III, Wrinkly's Save Cave is changed to Wrinkly Refuge, although it is still where the Kongs must go in order to save their game. It's similar in appearance to its SNES counterpart, however, the Banana Birds are absent.

In Game Boy Advance remake of the game, Wrinkly's Save Cave is reduced to a single Wrinkly's Retreat on the greater overworld, as saving can be done at any time by pressing start on the map screen. At Wrinkly's Retreat, Wrinkly will wait while the Kongs seek out the lost Banana Birds, which in turn will fly to her retreat. Cranky's Dojo also takes the place of where Wrinkly's Save Caves are in the game's worlds.

Trivia

• The theme "Inside the Castle Walls" from Super Mario 64 can be heard while Wrinkly is playing her N64. This was obviously a form of advertising to promote the new Nintendo 64, which was released about two months prior to Donkey Kong Country 3.
• While playing Super Mario 64, Wrinkly will comment on how nobody ever makes games about knitting. The line is "Why don't they make games about knitting?". Despite their obscurity, such games do exist, such as I Am a Teacher: Super Mario Sweater and Mario Family. Both games are also Japanese-only games.
• In Donkey Kong Land III's Wrinky Refuge, Wrinkly Kong says "Keep an eye out for those Kremlins!", misspelling "Kremlings" as "Kremlins."
