Template:Levelbox World 8-6 is the eighth level of World 8 in New Super Mario Bros.. It becomes accessible after completing World 8-5. It could possibly be a homage to Mario Bros. due to the features of the level as well as the enemies.

Layout

This level takes place inside a volcano, filling up with rising lava. This level is also unusual in that it is a wrap-around level. The player must be quick to progress upwards through the level in order to outrun the lava.

The player starts in a seemingly blocked-off section of the level, though simply walking left will let them progress upwards. There are multiple Koopa Troopas patrolling the area, though many can be found on top of platforms that will flip them over if jumped on. A Pipe Cannon is also present in the area to assist the player in outrunning the lava. After the player passes by a pipe infinitely spawning Goombas, they will reach the level's midway point.

After the midway point, trampolines appear. The player must use the trampolines to soar upwards and progress through the level, while also avoiding the Koopa Paratroopas in the area. After a group of trampolines, the player will come across multiple Spinies, all on platforms that can flip them over if jumped on. After getting through the group of Spinies, the player will come across another Pipe Cannon; entering this pipe will make the player soar out of the volcano into the last part of the level.

After exiting the volcano, the player can head right to reach the flagpole; however, heading left will reveal an additional trampoline that can be used to soar upwards and reach the top of the flagpole, earning the player a 1-UP.

Star Coins

  • Star Coin 1: In the area with the first Pipe Cannon; use the pipe, then immediately head leftwards to reach a cutoff section containing the coin.
  • Star Coin 2: About halfway through the level; use the trampolines to soar upwards, then corkscrew dive into a column of Brick Blocks to reach the coin.
  • Star Coin 3: At the end of the volcano section; found next to the Pipe Cannon. The player must use the wrap-around mechanic of the level in order to reach the coin.
