This article is about the regular Wisdurm from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. For the variation fought in Challenge Node, see Wisdurm X.
“Now thennnn... I am one of the guardians of the Star Cuuures. We sages knew the day of the Dark Star awakening would come, and so awaited the heeeeroes... We have met many times, as you two well rememberrrr... The day Bowser ate me along with the giga-carrot was the day our fates crosssssed... heh heh heh heh... it is clear we are connected by a fate that is beyond our poor comprehensionnnn...”
Wisdurm, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

Wisdurm is a character from the game Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. She is the guardian of the first Star Cure but initially appears to Mario and Luigi as the enemy Durmite. Wisdurm has three different appearances in addition to her massive Durmite form: in the overworld she appears as a tiny teal caterpillar, but in battle she can also temporarily grow to a medium-sized pink form, and after her defeat, she reveals her butterfly form to the Mario Bros. In all her forms, she possesses a Birdo-like face, with a sucker for a mouth and what appears to be a bow atop her head. Of all three Star Sages, Wisdurm is the only one encountered in Bowser's body, and the only one to be featured in Challenge Node, as Wisdurm X.

Wisdurm's name comes from "wisdom" and "Durmite", which is still used as the attack target name when Wisdurm is in her small form in battle. She is misnamed in the Prima Strategy Guide's enemy list as "Wise Pillbo".

Wisdurm's true form.

Shortly after she was eaten by Bowser along with the giga-carrot, Wisdurm, as "Durmite" attacks the Mario Bros. and upon her defeat, shrinks into a tiny caterpillar and flees. When they are informed that she is the first Sage, Mario and Luigi set off to retrieve the first Star Cure, pursuing Wisdurm to the Energy Hold where she continues to evade them. Eventually she grows tired of being chased around by the brothers and confronts them, at which point they explain the situation and ask for the Star Cure. But rather than simply giving it to them, Wisdurm challenges them to a battle over the ownership of the Star Cure. After being defeated, Wisdurm turns into her true form, a butterfly, and drops the Star Cure so the brothers can resume their adventure.

Wisdurm starts the battle small, but a gauge above her fills as she takes damage. When the gauge is filled, she transforms into her larger, more powerful form. The Mario Bros. can attack the Magical Rod to empty the gauge faster. After the Magical Rod takes enough damage, Wisdurm shrinks down to regular size.

In battle, Wisdurm has the following attacks:

  • Giant Heart - Wisdurm shoots a giant heart in the air which quickly flashes a picture of one of the brothers and then lands on them. The heart must be hammered multiple times before it breaks and the attack stops.
  • Star Beam - Wisdurm shoots a beam of stars between the Bros. which starts to move towards either one of them. This can be avoided by jumping over the beam. Occasionally Wisdurm swaps the places of both Bros. during the attack.
  • Shrink - Wisdurm shrinks one of the Bros. and starts chasing him. This attack can be countered by hammering Wisdurm 3 times. However waiting too long or taking too long to hammer causes Wisdurm to trample the Bro.
  • String Swing - Wisdurm can only use this attack while small. This involves shooting a string beam to the ceilling and repeatidly swinging into one of the Bros. Until it is countered with the hammer or the attack does 0 damage.

Later in the game, Mario & Luigi can fight a stronger version of Wisdurm called Wisdurm X.

Trivia

  • Wisdurm's true name can actually first be seen in one of the save entries before she formally introduces herself. When the player saves right after facing Bowser in the Toadley Clinic, the entry mentions that the Bros. must "find Wisdurm in Bowser's body." Before this, her name was never mentioned.
