Winged Pikmin is Olimar's up Special Move in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, replacing its precedent, Pikmin Chain, from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The move calls a pair of Winged Pikmin to carry Olimar into the air, allowing the player to move freely as they fly and gain height. The more Pikmin Olimar is carrying, however, the less distance the Winged Pikmin travel; Purple Pikmin are especially heavy for the Winged Pikmin. The Winged Pikmin also do not fly as far the more times the move is consecutively used. Olimar can end the move early by performing an attacking move, but if the move is carried to its maximum duration, Olimar goes into helpless state.
The special move has two other variants that the players can customize once they unlocked them. Winged Pikmin Jump allows Olimar to quickly travel upwards, but he cannot end the move early. Mighty Winged Pikmin flies a set distance regardless of the number of Pikmin Olimar is carrying and recovers faster.

However, how high and far they can fly is affected by how many friends they have to carry. More Pikmin will weigh them down. PAL: This particular type of Pikmin has a pink body, blue eyes and...wings? Yep, they can fly, and in this game, they can even give Olimar a lift. The only thing is they'll get tired very easily, especially if they're carrying lots of other Pikmin at the same time. Go easy on them, OK? |
