Template:Species-infobox Wild Wendells[1] are reptilian enemies appearing in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They resemble blue-skinned turtles wearing pilot gear, possibly in keeping with the island's plane wreck motif. Their dominant feature is the large, gibbous shell on their back.

Wild Wendells can be found on both land and water, moving slowly from side to side.[2] They do not actively attack the Kongs, but can drain one heart from their health meter at direct contact. A stomp on a ground Wild Wendell will make it retreat inside its shell for a short time, in a similar fashion to Koopa Troopas from the Mario platform games. Immobilized inside its shell, the Wild Wendell can then be picked up and thrown to defeat it. Also, the enemy can be used as a projectile and knock out other enemies and obstacles. An alternative way to defeat Wild Wendells is a roll attack. Aquatic Wild Wendells cannot be stunned and picked up, but can be bounced on indefinitely and can be defeated with a corkscrew attack from the bottom.

Lost Mangroves is the only island in the game that hosts Wild Wendells. They are first encountered in Mangrove Cove, where a group of green, Wild-Wendell lookalikes can also be seen lounging on a background isle. However, these individuals only pose as decoration.
