Custom Poll

This is my custom poll. Feel free to use (or don't use, of course) it.

QUESTION: Do you think that in the upcoming Mario Kart 9 and/or Mario Kart 10 there will be 40 courses?

• Yeah, 10 cups with 4 courses each!
• Yeah, 8 cups with 5 courses each!
• Nope, since Mario Kart DS there are 32 tracks and this will stay.
• Nope, there will be MORE than 40 courses! :)

Mario Kart 8 Item Change? Really?

In Mario Kart 8 the developers says that the item rarity should be changed in order to prevent ruining a perfect race by a Spiny Shell, but, from what I can see, only a little have been changed. Here's a comparision of some items from Mario Kart 8 to older Mario Kart titles (Mario Kart 7, Wii and DS).

Legend
OMK = Old Mario Kart
MK8 = Mario Kart 8

Red Shell

OMK: I block almost all of them because I equip an item and hold another - it was simply!
MK8: Glitched? The alarm adverts me of Red Shells with other targets! And now that I can hold only 1 item at time, it's more difficult to block them all!

Green Shell

OMK: I rarely found it launched and even more rarely I get hitted.
MK8: The CPUs have Bull's-eye! They always hit me!

Blue Shell

OMK: Sometimes I get hitted by this item three times in a race but I can get to the top easily. My record is 10 Blue Shells per trophy!
MK8: It's-a-devil! It cames once a race, but only in the 3rd lap and, if this happens, I rarely can return to the first!

Lightning

OMK: Once a race, it don't causes much problems: in Mario Kart 7 if you wait for a CPU to an edge the CPU actives the Lightning (if any) and you're safe!
MK8: Very common! Sometimes I get it three times in a race!

Mine is Baby Luigi + Biddybuggy + Azure Rollers + Cloud Glider :D^{Billy-Luigi Time!} 15:06, 4 June 2014 (EDT)

Basically it's the same, the only difference is that Baby Luigi is a featherweight and Lakitu is lightweight. Stats of kart, wheels and glider don't change and I always use Biddybuggy, but when I find out that it and Landship have the same stats I start using the second. For the Azure Roller, I unlock them at the end (I remember 2500-2600 Coins) and I find out that I like the normal Rollers more. And for the glider, I first use the Parafoil, when I unlock the Cloud Glider I start using it (about 1000 Coins) and when I unlock the MKTV Parafoil I think that the cameraman at MKTV is a Lakitu and then I think that using the MKTV Parafoil will be more related. But I don't know. The Hard CPUs are even more difficult than MKWii and I cann't always beat them. I try the Mushroom 150cc: first time, 1 star with 54 points, second time 2 stars with 57 points. In all 50cc and 100cc I got 60 points and 3 stars. Maybe the star system works like I think...? Tsunami (talk)

Everyone loves the Slick (me too) :) @Luma One of the most crazier combos I ever see! (not using the stats page) Apparently it has a medium-high speed with medium acceleration, low handling and medium weight. @Lightning The fastest one? Is this your strategy in Mario Kart DS? I can do great record (like an 1:49.993 in Mario Kart Stadium) without being so fast. If I can drive in faster karts well... I think I 'll go more faster! P.S. Weegee is Luigi? World of Tsunami!

OK, I'll edit my page P.S. On preferences says "There are problems with some of your input" and "Invalid raw signature. Check HTML tags". At the signature page is everything OK and the wikitext switch is on. This is the sig (chceck the edit button to see the text):

I created it by myself (with the help of the "Help" pages) first on the sig page, then on the preferences (where is wrong) and finally here (where it works). Tsunami (talk)

Hmmm..... Just simply clear everything and keep the WorldOfTsunami thing there only, and it should work, like mine. I don't have any errors with mine, so it should work for you. Feel free to experiment with it though, I don't know everything. - 05:09, 8 June 2014 (EDT)

From what I can see, you don't do anything wrong in the code: the only problem is that you make the boxes too big. Try to replace the 100px with 75px (where you have the tractions only, for the other wait till you add the traction), it should work :) P.S. the Spin isn't Rosalina's signature attack? Your table is kinda unfinished, isn't it? At Rosalina and Wario you write "cann't jump" but you gave them 4 and 2 stars rispectively for jump! World of Tsunami!

Sandbox

Hi, a sandbox is like a sig, it's your own page for you to do stuff on. You could either make User:Tsunami/Sandbox or UserTsunami/Work, whichever you like better. You can use it for projects and stuff, so it's a "try here, do later" type of thing. Sky Island took me several days to make. - 07:38, 10 June 2014 (EDT)

Sig

Hello Tsunami, I am 'Shroom64. For your sig page, I suggest you change it so it has the coding you usually put at the end of talk page comments. That way if you insert {{User:Tsunami/sig}} it puts the sig in for you. I use the "talk page" for my signature page as an archive for older sigs. If you change your sig page, using the same template I just mentioned will still use the new sig. So don't worry about that. (though if you are doing an "archive" you would have to insert the whole coding so that it doesn't change when you edit your sig.) I'm just saying this because it saves me from having to type this:...

Well, the images allowed are any uploaded on the wiki. If you are looking for an image of a particular character, look at the character's gallery page. (if it has one; many characters with little appearances don't) You can also upload a Personal Image specifically for your sig. BabyLuigi64

The image IS on the wiki. Is Mario & Luigi Dream Team Scenery Artwork (there is a gallery, you found it because it's colorful). It says "Invalid raw signature. Check HTML tags". Do you know why it happens? TSUNAMI

I think it has something to do with the image choice. Besides, I can't really see anything except for a mix of colors in the maximum image size. Typically in sigs we use images that don't really have a background, like the Poison Mushroom and Baby Luigi pictures I use. BabyLuigi64

It's for your userpage, right? You can leave it as it is (I think that is pretty good though, I don't see the problem) or make a table with a column for the name of the course and the other for the music... but without a table I think that it can't be done. BUT if you want to make it without like you ask at me type "border=0" (and the other values, check Help:Table) near the {|. I try previewing this on one of my tables and the border disappears, making the impression of not using a table... try this, it should work. If you cann't make a table (even with the help page) let me know, I'll help TSUNAMI

Thanks. While I agree that it's good to have a layout in place, it's impossible to tell what it would actually look like without making a full example. I think most of it looks good so far. I still maintain each board should have its space count on the page, but I think that overall space count table might have some use on the game's main page. I'm pretty sure Mario Party has a quotes page already; I still think that boards should have important quotes relating to them on the page though.--Vommack (talk) 14:23, 1 July 2014 (EDT)

RE:Basics

You seem to have a better understanding of why things should have articles and why some should. Power-Ups deserve their own article, but maybe transformations that are different in a way deserve their own article, such as Meowser and Cat Bullet Bill. Not so sure about other things like Gold and Shadow Mario, though. What do you think of them? - 05:33, 7 July 2014 (EDT)

Shadow Mario is still Bowser Jr. in a disguise, so he's no different from Gold Mario in that regard. Maybe we'll have to sacrifice a featured article, but if Gold Mario gets merged, I see no reason why Shaow Mario should keep standing. Cosmic Mario is practically Dark Matter in the shape of Mario, therefore deserves it's own article. Metal Mario is actually a unquie character, as he has his own voice, personality and statistics. Re:Something

Okay, I get it. Sadly, I only have Island Tour at the moment (my MP8 won't work), however, I do know this website (that's where I got my N64 from). I already have enough systems so I don't need to get another one, I can simply get something like MP7 from that website (and perhaps another memory card; the one I have is full of MK:DD ghosts!), replace my MP8 disk, and play them on my Wii. I'll have to wait a few days before I get them if that's okay with you. BabyLuigi64

Oh, that's too bad. I had to replace my DS Lite twice (lost my first one, the second broke and got the same red effect on the top screen, making the only games I could play on it my GBA games when set to the bottom screen) and had to get MK Double Dash!! and Wii replaced as well. Hopefully I can do the same with Mario Party 8, and I'm also planning on getting Mario Party 9. Not planning on getting all Mario Parties at once, but I will have four MP games to help out with. And tomorrow, I will look at Peach's Birthday Cake and report later. BabyLuigi64

Progress

After vacationing at Sunshine Isles for a bit, I have made tables for all of the IT boards except Kamek's and Bowser's. They closed today, so I'll go tomorrow. And I had to sit down and watch a video for Shy Guy's Shuffle City, because there apparently must be 3 or 4 players. (SO I have yet to play it myself.) I shall order 7, 8, and 9 tomorrow or the day after. Anyway, is it me or are the home-console based MP games (as in the original and the numbered ones) better than the handheld versions (Advance, -e, DS, Island Tour)? BabyLuigi64

Good to see you enjoy Island Tour... The number one reason I don't like it that much is the sheer amount of luck you must hope to have in order to win. That, and that Shy Guy's Shuffle City and a couple of minigames require 3-4 HUMAN players. One of the 3DS's I have at home (though not mine) was ripped in two by my two youngest brothers in a game of 3DS Tug-of-War, so I cannot use it anymore! Leaving two 3DS's still alive at my house. So now I can not play those aforementioned board and minigames at all (AND I haven't, ever.) And not too many people I know actually have a DS anymore... Anyway, about the Super Mario World on the NES and the other console, I don't think we should add them because they are not really made by Nintendo, but rather, fanmade remakes on those two systems. Cool! I have Platinum too. Very early on, even before I got my first Poke-Balls, I found a Shiny Starly in Route 201. But, because I didn't have any Poke-Balls to catch it with, I couldn't catch it!! I never saw a shiny Pokemon in a regular wild battle since... Anyway, right now I own in chronological order: FireRed, Emerald, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, Black, Black 2, X. I'm getting OmegaRuby, and my starter's going to be Mudkip like in Emerald. And yes, in Blown Hover I did Easy for the COM. If I set the COM to easy and play Slow Glide or Blown Hover, it's like I'm guaranteed to win, even if I do nothing! BabyLuigi64

It actually is possible to do nothing in Slow Glide - just put the 3DS on a flat surface before the minigame starts. :P My favorite starters are: Kanto: Charmander, Johto: Chikorita, Hoenn: Mudkip, Sinnoh: Turtwig, Unova: Snivy, Kalos: Chespin. (As you can see I like Grass types too.) I think it would be a good idea to join the forums if you want to have a conversation with many people. Did you turn that text red to hide the method? Cool trick! And this site is formatted as Wikipedia on your tablet!? That sounds crazy! Anyway, yes, I like Poison Mushrooms. While related to other Mushrooms that power up by giving you a propeller suit, simply making you grow, turning you into a bee, etc. the Poison Mushroom is more like the series' power down. It never helps except for in Super Mario Kart where getting one while already small makes you normal size, and in Paper Mario: Sticker Star where, while poisoning you, it poisons enemies that make contact with you. The other power ups are cool, but I can't pick a favorite. Also that sig looks cool, but that's actually too big lengthwise. You may want to test it against this:

Look, I made one of those here, I'm thinking of using it in my upcoming August sig. 1) Like I said earlier, in SMK, if you run into a Poison Mushroom while already small, you grow back to normal size. Seems like a good idea to me. And yes I do have the original NSMB. I think this can really be done on any of the sequels too! Except for NSMB2 you would have to modify the Warp Cannon rule so that you can get to World Mushroom and World Flower: get the cannon in World 1 that takes you to World Mushroom, and then one of the cannons that takes you to World Flower. But that's it. Anyway, have you seen that I'm developing a MKC DLC Pack? I'll notify you when it's done, because I am constantly going to other places so I can't work on it all the time. Tsunami can be written in two ways in Japanese. The primary way is in kanji: 津波. (From 津(Tsu, meaning: Harbor) and 波(Nami, meaning wave)) However, the average Japanese student learns "Nami" at third grade but won't learn "Tsu" until 7th. So they might write it in hiragana, which would use these:

• つ Tsu
• な Na
• み Mi
• =つなみ
  

So that's how your name would look like in Japanese. I'd also guess that someone who knows Nami but not Tsu could write it as "つ波".
My name is different though; I also have multiple versions, as you may have seen: シュルーム六十四/シュルーム６４/シュルームろくぢゅうよん based on three ways they may use to write the number 64. First of all, while I showed you my name in hiragana above, it looks different because I used Katakana, mainly used for foreign names. Since I already used the word マッシュルーム Masshurūmu as a basis, I kept it that way. It's like this:

• ュ (a mini "yu", which when partnered with シ it turns it into "Shu")
• ル Ru
• ー (elongates the last vowel sound. In this case it's U. A counterpart for this in hiragana does not exist, so I use う U instead for it.)

Your name in Japanese is フェデリコ. It sounds the same but it is romanized as "Federiko". Oh, and fun fact! I'm Greek. (Though I live in America.) Your name in that language... Well, it sounds different depending on Ancient or Modern, but it looks like this: Φεδερικο/Φεδερίκο. In Ancient, it sounds like your name in English. There is no accent mark because they differentiate pitch accents. In Modern, it's really pronounced "Fetheriko" and it has that accent mark because it marks the long vowel in the word/name.

Check out this game, Super Mario Flash 2. It looks like a slightly different Super Mario World, and also has a level editor. However, if Super Mario Bros. X really has that many options, you probably won't like it as much. It's not as limited as the Mario Maker demo, though. You have different backgrounds, can do an underwater level, has elements from the SMAS Super Mario Bros. 3 (such as Boom Boom), and you can even do that thing in Super Mario World where Bullet Bills randomly appear!

What a coincidence, Sherbet Land is the only retro course in MK8 where I like the original version's music better. Though don't get me wrong, the actual track is better in 8. And for archiving, because I don't really get many messages (aside from yours of course), I would go for 25. And it looks like you already got a "don't remove opposes" message from Ninelevendo. I can help with SMW too, but what I want featured (like I said earlier) is Iggy Koopa, my favorite Koopaling. But one of the comic sections is a stub! Please tell me you know how to get the info. Oh and I want to see what needs work before I nominate it, and then if something was missed, someone can point it out. Oh, and on a completely irrelevant note, I started a playthrough of the Japanese version of Pokemon Red because who knows why. Naturally my pick was Charmander, but I nicknamed it into a transliteration of its English name... that was shortened, because of the (smaller) character limit. It would have been チャーマンダー Chāmandā, but it got shortened to チャーマン Chāman. I'm also using Bulbapedia as a resource for items and moves.
