Image Category Reminder

Hello, SonicSpeed48. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images	Audio/video files
Company images Film images Game images Merchandise images Publication images System images Television series images Website images	Company media files Film media files Game media files Merchandise media files Publication media files System media files Television series media files Website media files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]

or

[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Infoboxes

Just to let you know, we don't update character infoboxes appearances until after a game is released, which includes the artworks. 11:56, 13 June 2018 (EDT)

Think of it like this: if the placeholders are there, and when the game eventually releases, it will only take a simple deletion of seven items instead of typing the whole thing out. Literally only a few seconds' worth of work. While I'm not against adding the placeholders, I really don't see any point in adding them either when it takes little to no more effort typing the full name out once the game releases.

Image use

Special moves

Editing

There's no need for this. Edits (even those by long-time users) are bound to be reverted a lot, so don't be discouraged if that happens every now and then. Just try to understand that we have rules and policies here that may or may not be different from other wikis, and as an encyclopedia we try to present information that's as accurate to the available source as possible and not based on speculation, especially when it comes to upcoming content. It's just the ones that go against the rules. Getting edits repeatedly reverted isn't something to be bummed about, it just means you need to learn from the mistakes and avoid doing such edits in the future, and through that you'll improve. As for the Luigi's Mansion 3 edit, that's inference, not speculation. It's evident from the interior like the numbered rooms, the janitor cart and Mario's suitcase.

Moving files

When renaming files, please make sure all of the pages that link to the old name (labelled "(file redirect)" under "File usage" at the bottom, e.g. Mario Party 10 still links to File:Mario amiibo.png's old name) are fixed to the new name. Mario JC 04:52, 21 September 2018 (EDT)

I already fixed the links and deleted the redirects. But perhaps as a heads-up, if you do something as large as this, make sure you have the time to do so.

Starting with Peachette?

Birdo profiles and statistics?

Hi, I noticed you reordered the List of Birdo profiles and statistics. Is there a particular reason for doing so? I was under the impression they were meant to be in chronological order, but I'm not sure. MarioComix (talk) 01:28, February 11, 2020 (EST)

Well, generally we like to keep things chronological on the wiki, including main character pages and gallery pages. Because if we start allowing too much arbitrary ordering, then it opens the way for there being no real structure to the pages. MarioComix (talk) 01:59, February 11, 2020 (EST)

Regarding file renames

Mario Kart Tour Twitter Images

Hey, so I noticed that we're both uploading images from the Mario Kart Tour Twitter. I personally don't mind the way we're both going about this, but for future, could you make uploading the image to the gallery page your first priority? It's the easiest way for me to check if the image has already been uploaded. Now, usually the Wiki lets me know if the image name is the same, or if the image has already been uploaded, but today it didn't lol. I never said to not add the pipes ever again, you're using a strawman fallacy now. I said don't add pipes that are happening in the future. You added a future pipe, and you got it wrong. I didn't presume that, it already happened. I don't think adding in pipes in the future is a good idea since you could get the pipe info or percentages wrong, and that's exactly what happened here. Plus, if I never caught it, the wiki could have had it incorrect after the tour was over, so good thing I did catch it. --
