Image uploads

Hello, Sdman213. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the {{aboutfile}} template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded coding is shown below.

|2=Where you found the image
|3=Artist
|4=Describe edits, if any
|5=Other versions (use file link)

Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line of the variable(s) you don't use. If you do not wish to use the template at all, then it is acceptable to simply remove it before you upload the file. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using {{aboutfile}} incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Hello, Sdman213. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images	Audio/video files
Company images Film images Game images Merchandise images Publication images System images Television series images Website images	Company media files Film media files Game media files Merchandise media files Publication media files System media files Television series media files Website media files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

[[Category:Super Mario World images]]

or

[[Category:Super Mario World media files]]

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Thanks for uploading the missing images, but keep in mind the parameters you need to fulfill when doing so. For the category, in this case it would be [[Category:Super Mario Galaxy 2 Images]]. 13:34, 30 October 2017 (EDT)

Additionally, when categorizing images, please be sure to use brackets ([[Category:WarioWare Gold Images]]) instead of curly braces, as the latter transcludes the category contents onto the page instead of actually categorizing it. Thanks!

Transparency

One last thing regarding images: it's usually inadvisable to crop artwork just to make it transparent (unless, of course, the artwork's transparency is official). Game titles

Game titles are usually completely written out and italicized, even if it is already written in the same paragraph or infobox and seems redundant. Also, when reverting edits, make sure you are not reverting valid parts of edits as well. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 17:13, 30 July 2018 (EDT)

Image Gallery Preview Recent Edit Activities

Hello, I see that we've been both trying to find common ground the past few days regarding image gallery preview section candidates for certain Mario female articles (especially the Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina ones). I believe we've finally good on the ones for the Princess Daisy gallery preview section; but can you tell me why you still want this picture and this picture to remain in the gallery preview sections of the Peach and Rosalina articles respectively? Hey, I was just trying to be consistent with other characters, such as Wario and Toad having at least 6 pictures in their preview galleries. I also feel that both of them in their gymnastic outfits show variety and their poses do show their personalities, so I feel they do have a spot in the gallery. --Sdman213 - Profile 12:08, 8 October 2018 (EDT)

Hey, on that recent edit you did, it's not really "redundant" in this case because there weren't many promo pictures done featuring Rosalina in Mario game installments (and it's still recommended to target promo artworks of characters related to their involvement in the game installments themselves). However, I do agree that when more promo artworks of Rosalina get done for upcoming game installments (when announced by Nintendo) and when they release, the said gallery preview section for the article could use some revision for showing which pictures would best represent Rosalina for the article itself. Infobox images

It doesn't matter what's more "neutral," the rules are that the newest artwork goes inside, with the only exceptions I can think of being ones that are extremely stylized or holding an object that isn't intrinsically linked to the character. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:08, 9 October 2018 (EDT)

Galleries

Actually, we prefer to avoid all cases of image redundancies on a page. The "all artwork" thing only applies if the gallery is on a separate page. Otherwise, infobox images should not be in the gallery. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:25, 19 November 2018 (EST)

When adding images to a gallery, the entire gallery does not need to be italicized as seen here, as this often italicizes the sections after the gallery, not the gallery itself, and galleries should only be italicized in the names of games, which you already seem to be doing. Yoshi group art

"This is artwork, not a sprite"

Yoshi's Story

The manual actually generically identifies each Yoshi in the game generically as "Yoshi" in sections like "Yoshi's mood," "Yoshi's moves," et cetera. Gallery

That's fine, I just wanted an explanation for your edits. What I generally do is mix up the gallery with screenshots, logos, and group art, as well as character artwork as I believe that's more illustrative of an article gallery than just solo character artwork. Enemy counts

I see you removed the enemy counts on the Scary Skeleton Goonies! article. I understand why, but I don't want this to open up a can of worms causing this to happen with other level articles. I will say though, you should give a reason other than simply "Unnecessary" when removing content or undoing edits next time, as I've noticed you've been doing this quite often. Dr. Luigi/Peach/Bowser art

Thanks for that, though it looks like you upscaled them and uploaded them as png when they were originally jpg, which goes against policy. It's possible you accidentally saved them as png after you cropped them, but keep in mind that images should be uploaded in the format they were found in (additionally, cropping is fine of course, but upscaling them is discouraged as it only makes it blurrier).

RE: Peach Gallery

Looks like that image is already there. imo, the gallery preview should be a mix of things, of artwork, sprites, and maybe screenshots. It's a preview of what you can expect, not just "The Best of Peach".

As for the infoboxes, yeah, any recent artwork that is not stylized for a specific game works. There have been discussions/proposals to make exceptions, however. 19:09, January 5, 2020 (EST)

Shadoo and the Game & Watch

Hello, I've seen your reverted response. I get where you are coming from but the Mario Bros. in the said Game & Watch title weren't really in their modern proportions and ascetics yet when the game was made of course. Obviously Nintendo wouldn't really make Shadoo give Dark Mario and Dark Luigi their old Mario Bros. styled designs since they moved on from that design since they are only in the Mario Bros. styled games and made for the purpose of the art style. This is similar between trivia of Mr. Game & Watch and the Shop Keeper from Wario Land 4 who she looks like Mr. Game & Watch but with actual eyes. As far as I know there isn't any other black silhouette clone of Mario and Luigi, especially these two forms in the Game & Watch styled Pit Of a 100 Trails. Peach and Bowser did not appear in the Game & Watch era, since they didn't debut until Super Mario Bros.. --Gamermakerguy (talk) 01:35, January 21, 2020 (EST)
