Chat Server

There has also been some clambering in the chat for us to switch servers. Our public relations with the darkmyst staff have plummeted. Also, the options on the irc.mozilla.org server are more varied. They also don't have massive server splits everyday, which darkmyst seems to have a problem with.Saudy^Talk!

Ok You

What are you gonna do about the banners? They were agreed upon in a proposal. I mean can you honestly say the current banners are good? I know my banners aren't the best design in the world but the current ones are just bad! I don't see how using different art styles and such has any real meaning. It makes it look like someone didn't care what art they had as long as it was easy to throw on there. Anyway aside from our opinions this was agreed upon so shouldn't that mean it has to be put on the front page??? I'm not feeling very fairly dealt with right now. Fixitup

No, it doesn't mean that it has be put on the front page. I'm the self-proclaimed banner decider of the wiki, and that proposal was crossing into my territory. Some of my gripes with your banners: The colors of the background and text are too light. They don't really fit the main page and aren't the easiest to read. The characters sticking out of the top is a nice touch, but creates more white space between the lists than I'm accustomed to. They're nice banners overall, but to call the current ones plain out bad is an opinion of your's, and you've just heard my opinion. Don't take this message as telling you how to fix the banners as if they'll go right up if these problems are taken care of, because I can't guarantee that. Alt in Links

As you know, alt text in links isn't default in wikisyntax. However, this would be very helpful for my Main Page redesign, as the description for each link in alt text would save a lot of space for me and make it look less crowded. I only found one extension that allowed HTML links, but it opens vulnerabilites, so it's a no-go. What do you suggest? Am I stuck to delete the descriptions in my design? Redirect Problems...

Hi, Steve. I'm sure you'd be able to help me with this. Lately, I've been trying to make a few redirect pages, with the #REDIRECT thing, but when I type it, it comes out as "1. Redirect" instead of the word "Redirect" with the arrow pointing to the redirected page. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When you read the description on the move page, the page says it would move it over a redirect:

Note that the page will not be moved if there is already a page at the new title, unless it is empty or a redirect and has no past edit history.

The Improvement Drive proposal passed. One part of the proposal called for an addition to the main page - a small section stating the current featured collaboration. Logging in

Hey Steve. Sorry to bother you, but my computer logged me out on it's own (It does that for some reason sometimes.) and I moved my cursor over "CReate an account/log in". After a few seconds, that little yellow box popped up and said "You are encouraged to log in, although it is not manditory.". Is there any way you can change this? The cool way is to find yourself a web host and install MediaWiki on the site. That's the software which most wiki websites use these days. However, that's not easy for someone without website-building experience.
