Preview button

Try to avoid making too many edits to one page, especially your user page, as this can clutter the page's history and flood the recent changes. Use the "Show preview" button next to the save button to check your work and continue editing, then save when you are ready to publish the edit. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:52, 25 February 2019 (EST)

Oh...I didn't realize my user page edits show up there, too! I thought saving frequently would prevent a lot of work having to be redone if I accidentally exited out. I will try to reduce this problem. Obsessive Mario Fan (talk) 14:52, April 10, 2019 (EDT)
You can set the recent changes to only show certain namespaces (mainspace, userspace, files, etc.), but most people just keep it to the default everything as far as I know.
You can also edit pages in a Word document or something, you can save as many times as you want to there, and then carry over the text to your userpage when it's done. Downside there is you can't preview any wiki changes :P Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:08, 25 February 2019 (EST)
Well, you can preview your changes and don't save them. I do think the WikiEd addon lets you save backups of changes, but it takes extra to load all those buttons, so I don't use it myself. I know I'm late here, but I recently decided that I would create my own sandbox to keep my unfinished revisions. Obsessive Wario Fan (talk) 22:02, May 16, 2019 (EDT)

Userpage

While getting to know you better is all well and good, you've been editing your userpage rather extensively over the past couple of days. Be sure to mix in some helpful edits as well! Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:16, 27 February 2019 (EST)

Enemy Counts

I noticed you added enemy counts for NSMBW World 1-4 and some levels of Super Mario World. I'm currently endeavoring to compile accurate enemy counts for SMB 1-3, SMW, and the NSMB games. Please feel free to double check my counts and/or add counts to pages that are empty if you want to help me in this. User:Ladishchap

Enemy counts are one of the easier things to add, since I have access to a lot of level maps and videos. It's easier with levels that are more linear. Feel free to check any mistakes I make, too. :) Obsessive Mario Fan (talk) 16:26, April 23, 2019 (EDT)

Images

You don't need to add Category:Game 3D renders to images, at that is automatically applied when you select the game-3Drender template. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:54, May 3, 2019 (EDT)

Also, abbreviations of game titles such as MKDS should still be properly capitalized as if they were fully spelt out, even in file names. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 20:07, May 3, 2019 (EDT)

Editing my vote[-]€40 vv@(talk · edits)Hyperluigi.gif 14:14, May 11, 2019 (EDT)

Sorry about that! Your votes were actually not there when I added mine. They must have disappeared due to a conflict. You probably started editing after I did, but saved your changes before I did. Obsessive Mario Fan (talk) 14:20, May 11, 2019 (EDT)
Either way, a reminder was supposed to be given, not a warning. OMF, you should probably check twice a page before editing it. Or maybe even check what revision of the page you are editing, since it can happen as well. Tent2 KirbySleepingAnimated.gif 14:25, May 11, 2019 (EDT)
You should appeal this warning anyways, as it was obviously an accident. A formal reminder instead of an actual reminder would be better, as you never done anything bad, and mistakes like this can happen. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 14:28, May 11, 2019 (EDT)
Good point... it should be up to the admins. Sorry for my misunderstanding. [-]€40 vv@(talk · edits)Hyperluigi.gif 14:41, May 11, 2019 (EDT)

User has apologized, and this is obviously a mistake, not one meant to cause trouble. This thing tends to happen when editing the whole page rather than a section, though, so maybe edit a specific section next time so the wiki alerts you when a conflict does happen in that spot. RE:My gripe about level articles on the wiki

It seemed to me that many level articles just lack a lot of content. Pages for Wario Land II (see Avoid the rocks!), Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (see Multi-Vator Mayhem), Yoshi's Woolly World (see Lava Scarves and Red-Hot Blarggs)... All of these have a lackluster introduction and a rushed layout section that skims over a couple of elements and doesn't go into any detail. Sometimes, these two sections are combined. They are not the worst of the wiki, though, because they at least contain information about important collectibles. By far the worst level articles pertain to Yoshi's New Island, which fail even in that regard, practically making them a complete waste of Internet space that doesn't benefit anybody. Wanna know where to find that elusive Smiley Flower in whatever level? Wanna look up it quickly without loading some video on YouTube and then sliding the progress bar where it might show the collectible? Well, too bad, you're not having any of that. My criticism is meant to raise awareness to that very point--that a level article should at least contain information about things that might be desirable for the reader to know. Actually, that applies to any article.

And yes... that means adding information about where to find the crafts and Poochy Pups in the most recent article you wrote. :P Just a little light criticism if you accept it... You're doing a good job otherwise. And an advice: if there is anything essential in a level, just anything that pretty much defines it in some way, you can write about it briefly in the introduction paragraph! For example, this level from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has you find different keys in order to open chests, which is mentioned at the beginning of its page. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 17:35, May 18, 2019 (EDT)

Thanks for the info! Also, I usually work on large projects in my sandbox, mostly edits that I don't think I can do in one sitting. Obsessive Mario Fan (talk) 18:28, May 18, 2019 (EDT)
Oh, I didn't see those projects in your sandbox. I apologize. Keep up the good work! -- KOOPA CON CARNE 18:33, May 18, 2019 (EDT)

Categories

Hi, would you mind changing every instance of to :Category:Super Mario Land Levels and to :Category:Yoshi's Crafted World Worlds? We don't usually allow userspace pages in mainstream categories. Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 18:14, May 20, 2019 (EDT)

Game titles

Keep in mind that game titles still need to be italicised even in section headers. Other than that, thanks for your work on the Mario Land levels! Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:17, May 25, 2019 (EDT)
