RULES

My talk page has some rules that you must follow for Luigi's aura of Luiginary glory to surround you. If you break them, the wrath of Weegee shall fall upon you!

  1. Do not cuss or swear or say anything obscene. If you break this, Luigi will edit it out for me and then use F.L.U.D.D to clean your mouth.
  2. Be civil. This means no flaming, meanness, etc. If you break this, Luigi will remove it and then throw a fireball at you.
  3. No random friend requests. If you have interacted with me and I'm familiar with you as supposed to you being some random user, then you can send me a friend request. However, this does not guarantee that I will accept. If you break this, Luigi will explain it to you and then give you a 1-up Mushroom.
  4. Don't ask for personal information. If you break this, Luigi will plead the fifth.
  5. If you ask me a question, I may respond on my talkpage or yours. Pay attention to both.
  6. Make sure your messages are readable. Nothing like this: luggy iss da bes caractr evar.
  7. Use common sense and follow the rules of the wiki.
FUN RULES
  1. If you say that Pink Gold Peach is a good character, then you are automatically wrong.
  2. Don't park your Space Station or Brobot or Wikimobile in the grass.
  3. Eat a Yoshi Cookie if you have time.
  4. Do the Mario!
  5. Disregard the following rule.
  6. Obey Fun Rule #5.

Good job catching those mistakes.

Signature

If you need help creating a signature, MarioWiki:Signatures is a good place to start. File:Luigi 64DD.png is appearing in Special:UnusedFiles. It may be tagged with {{personal-image-abandoned}} if not used in a signature page. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 04:56, 24 September 2016 (EDT)

You are supposed to use User:Luigi 64DD/sig to store your signature. That's what mine is: User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig. You are using raw code, and that is frowned upon. Help:Signature will tell you how have ~~~ insert {{User:Luigi 64DD/sig}} instead. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:09, 24 September 2016 (EDT)

RE:Revision

Info here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hcU8Yrqlqk

Back then, Charles Martinet wasn't Wario's voice actor. Instead, Thomas Spindler, a German VA, was the voice behind Wario for the early Mario Parties and Mario Kart 64. In the video I linked to, Thomas himself posted saying he was indeed saying "So ein mist!" which roughly means "Ah, crap!" in English. The official source is the voice actor himself. Categorizing images

Hi there. When you're uploading images, please remember to add a category from the game it comes from. For example, any Mario Kart: Double Dash!! images should include [[Category:Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Images]]. And images from a pre-release version of a game (such as those unused models you were uploading) should also include [[Category:Pre-release and unused images]]. I hope this helps.

Your message to a guest

It's good how you're trying to get him/her to edit better but anons are unable to mark edits as minor. He wasn't doing it deliberately. He was only doing it because as an IP he's actually unable to, only users have that ability. You also can't do this on mobile web editing. Sprite of Black Ninjakoopa, from Paper Mario. Spacing

Hi there, just a tip: Rather than adding multiple lines to creating spacing beneath sections, use {{br}} instead. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 05:37, 14 October 2016 (EDT)

RE: Wrong Goomba and a question

Ah, yeah, I had the wrong Goomba, sorry. It doesn't seem like the Goombrats will appear in SMM3DS anyway, I didn't see them, but I could be wrong.

As for the userbox, usually you can use the picture in the userbox just fine (unless it's a personal image), though identical userboxes usually happen by coincidence. Feel free to ask the person whose userbox you want to copy, though, just to make sure. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:58, 15 October 2016 (EDT)

Userspace

This reminder has been overturned by the MarioWiki staff. The original reminder can still be viewed.

Dear Luigi 64DD,

It has come to our attention that you are currently in violation of the userspace policy. Please review the policy and abide by it, or else a warning will be issued. Thank you for your cooperation.

Look at your User talk edits along with your Userspace edits. Added up, you have way more of those than mainspace edits. Please make more edits to mainspace before worrying about talking to other users. Once you increase your mainspace edits then you can talk to other users. I hope this doesn't discourage you from editing and have a good night. :) Sprite of Black Ninjakoopa, from Paper Mario. Sprite of Red Ninjakoopa, from Paper Mario. The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) 06:01, 18 October 2016 (EDT)

This is slightly undeserved as Luigi64DD's mainspace edits are still the highest number, and if you look in his contributions you can see that he is still editing the main space fairly frequently. Yes, some of his user talk edits are idle chit-chat, but some, like the messages to Alex95, are questions as well. You need to look at the edits, rather than just assume when you issue a userspace warning. Yoshi876 (talk)

Re: Advice on the Super Mario 3D World Original Soundtrack

Hi there, thanks for coming forward. I'll do my best to answer your questions.

If you look at the article, you'll see information about the appearance of the discs and case in the first section. Should this be moved to a section like "Appearance" or "Physical Description"?

The "Description" section has badly written sentences that I'm not even sure should be in the article at all. Do you think I should rewrite them, or remove them entirely?

I agree that the "Description section isn't currently written very well. I think that the section should in-fact be named "Production", which appears to be the overall focus of the paragraph (revealing that the music will be played by live-bands with new compositions, the intended feel of the soundtrack, the studio footage of the soundtrack being recorded). The information about the Bowser-related songs would best be written as a trivia piece, as it's written as an offhand, matter-of-fact piece of info which really doesn't fit together with the rest of that section's content (and there is currently no other commentary about other tracks, although this would be an acceptable thing to have).

I like the sound of a "Physical description" section, describing the album cover, CD design and the contents of the insert booklet could be very informative if it was written properly. But in the mean-time, this information may suitably remain in the opening section.

On another note, I have ovetuned the userspace warning that you have received above. It was undeserved, as I see you have a quality mix between mainspace contributions, article talk page discussions and general chatting with other users (which is perfectly acceptable against your article contributions).

Thanks, 'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 10:27, 18 October 2016 (EDT)

You're welcome! And sure, feel free to arrange a chat session with other users, if you feel that an off-topic talk page conversation would likely create a large number of edits. – User talk:YoshiKong 11:28, 18 October 2016 (EDT)

DK, Wario, and Yoshi series stuff

Do you mind if I help with the DK, Wario, and Yoshi series stuff?

Nope. - Reboot (talk) 13:58, 19 October 2016 (EDT)

Do you think I should ask YSSM about the Yoshi series since he's the main one doing it, or would that be unnecessary?

Not specifically. He doesn't look like he's keeping to the formats established elsewhere (especially on Yoshi (franchise) re: Mario (franchise)) anyway, taking note of either what I said for a basis in the proposal (putting Yoshi's Safari on Yoshi puzzles waved a red flag for me) or what Mr. Wu's brought up re: what's officially in the Yoshi's Island series. Insomuch as I have any control over the situation, owing to it being my proposal, I don't particularly care who does it as long as it's well-done, y'know. - Reboot (talk) 14:07, 19 October 2016 (EDT)

Colouring in

Curious - what, exactly, would you support in the proposal as it stands? It's still well within the timeframe where I can withdraw it (and submit a modified version) - if this looks like it's going to fail (as it presently does), I would prefer the proverbial half a loaf to nothing at all. (Ultimately, it's about making MW more readable. Yellow on white isn't particularly readable, even if yellow was used in the game - there are other ways of using the colour that don't involve that.) - Reboot (talk) 20:23, 25 October 2016 (EDT)

Re: Him/Her vs. Their

In that particular sentence, "them" flowed much better than "him or her". But the latter can be acceptable too. Just use case-by-case judgement.

Re: Snooze Ewes

Hi there. I think that sentence is trying to say "When the Gaddget is switched on, it will cause the player's character to fall asleep". I'm not very familiar with Mario Party Advance. If you would like anything specific clarified about the article's information, I'd suggest going to Time Turner (talk); he'd be a better guy to help you out with that subject.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 18:42, 29 October 2016 (EDT)

Snooze Ewes is only a music box. When it is activated, calming music plays and an infinite row of sheep jump over a fence. Since it's accessed from a menu and not through a character, nobody actually reacts to it in-game. However, the description for it reads, "Just count the sheep until you fall asleep! Great for insomniacs of all ages!" and when the player obtains the Gaddget from Bowser (note that he only gives it to the player and does not use it himself), he says that, "[w]ith it, you can sleep anytime, anywhere!" The intention is that the actual human playing the game uses it as a sleeping aid, though since this experience is obviously subjective, I'd reword it to refer more to its clear intention rather than its potentially dubious result. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 00:34, 15 November 2016 (EST)

RE: Images

You mean File:MKSC SNES Bowser's Castle 1.jpg? Different MIME type. MediaWiki, the software that MarioWiki uses, prevents a different MIME type from being uploaded other than the one used (JPEG in this case). PNG is ideal for screenshots because the compression is often better than JPEG and it is lossless, if the image is captured cleanly. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:21, 31 October 2016 (EDT)

Whoops! Forgot about the other question! PNG Monstrous is just a utility to maximize compression of an image to be at its lowest possible file size. No, it won't provide high quality images. What is responsible for those replacements is emulation and using their screenshot tools. I guess I should add that to my page (I have been meaning to do that anyways). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:31, 31 October 2016 (EDT)
Emulators are very easy to come by. Usually they are multi-platform (versions for Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.). If you want to get started with emulation, check out Emulation General. They have a chart overview of the most popular and noteworthy emulators (only latest versions are considered) for a given system and how they rank in terms of performance, accuracy, and other features compared to other emulators. I recommend any emulator that has an accuracy rating of "high" or "cycle" (with a few exceptions like FCEUX for NES, but not ZSNES for SNES), if available. Lower accuracies mean higher performance but at the expense of possibly representing the game running inaccurately or emulator-breaking bugs. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:44, 31 October 2016 (EDT)
It is an image so it attempts to demonstrate the subject. Just be sure to tag your non-emulator screenshots with {{image-quality}}. A notable exception is HANS because that is a homebrew app that runs on a real 3DS that is capable of taking clean screenshots of 3DS games by overriding HOME Button's normal behavior. Similar methods that HANS can do for screenshot taking for other systems are also exempt from {{image-quality}}. Miiverse screenshots, although JPEG, are tolerable so don't need {{image-quality}}, although for Wii U, there is an even higher quality method that involves playing the game live and using the built-in web browser to navigate to MarioWiki. The image upload is still JPEG. Here's an example: File:SM3DWBaddieBox.jpg --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 20:17, 31 October 2016 (EDT)

Just in case you are wondering why I want to delete File:SMK BoxCover1.png and replace it with File:SMK BoxCover1.jpg, it is best not to convert JPEGs to PNGs. It doesn't increase quality of the JPEG. All it does is bloat file size and preserve JPEG artifacting. Also, converting is a waste of time. Generally, just keep the format the same if you are copying from elsewhere, such as Wikipedia or GameFAQs. Don't convert. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 20:26, 11 November 2016 (EST)

It's all OK as long as you realize it was a mistake. I see this mistake far too often. In order for something to increase in quality (by having a certain discipline), you would need to edit the image or resample it, such as having the right skillset to edit the image in Photoshop or rescan the Super Mario Kart box front, although I would recommend the rescan more and save the scan as a PNG, if you have the option to do that before the scanner scans. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 20:40, 11 November 2016 (EST)
I wouldn't worry too much about getting a new scan going. The current image representing SMK and not the Player's Choice variant is sufficient. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 20:47, 11 November 2016 (EST)

Re: Question

Articles can certainly have more than one link to the same subject, although not placed together, as you told me. Just use your best judgement: two reasonably large paragraphs could each have a link to Luigi for example, especially if the first link is tossed among a whole lot of other links. But short paragraphs and articles should generally have one link to each subject, as well as links in image thumbnails, infoboxes and navigation templates.
