BJAODN

What you're using BJAODN for is incorrect. It's not a place to make jokes, it's an archive of poorly made edits that someone found humorous. Jokes you make specifically for BJAODN don't belong on BJAODN. Don't keep readding it.

Additionally, the Rawk Hawk image you made doesn't belong on there either. But once you can make your userpage, you can upload it again to use it there. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:07, June 23, 2019 (EDT)

Fair enough. JoeRunner (talk) 22:18, June 23, 2019 (EDT)
Additionally, late comments just for the sake of making a comment don't really add much either. The original poster can make a comment on what they add, maybe one other person afterward. But adding multiple comments after the section has been there for a while is just kind of pointless. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:50, July 7, 2019 (EDT)
Actually, I recently saw that, according to a unanimous proposal, comments just for the sake of a comment are discouraged (as you said), and I suppose some comments fell under that category and should not be there (although those were attempting to be funny as well). But making comments that add to the humor of an entry are allowed, and I felt that most of those comments fell under the "adding to the humor" category. I suppose you would know more about this than I would, but are you still of the opinion that all of them should stay deleted? (All well as some from other users that I noticed you have also deleted, which I personally found to be funny.) JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 21:26, July 8, 2019 (EDT)
(I just saw this) No, not all of them should be deleted, they're meant to essentially be reactions from the person who posted the bit on BJAODN. Additional comments are fine as long as they are either within a few days of the content being posted or is something actually relevant (such as with the SIRI section). This is all really just subjective as to when a comment can be made, there's no set distance, but time is better spent on the main articles anyway. Basically, if you aren't the original poster and have nothing really new to add, another comment is unnecessary. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:51, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

Moving files

When moving files, please check the "What links here" from the sidebar on the original file page and correct any links, then mark the redirect for deletion. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:50, June 30, 2019 (EDT)

Alex95 beat me to it but yeah, in the future after moving a file, please remember to change the links on the articles listed under "File usage" on the file page (and "What links here") from the old name to the new name, then mark the old name for deletion with {{delete}}. Thanks. Wolf Link costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 20:52, June 30, 2019 (EDT)

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind.
(P.S. Alex95 is so dang speedy!) JoeRunner (talk) 20:59, June 30, 2019 (EDT)

Redirects

I don't think we should have redirects. They make us look unprofessional. Lord Falafel (talk) 00:38, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

They do not, but I do wonder about your recent ones. I don't think just the end of a title is all that necessary, but I don't think there's anything wrong with them either. I'll probably ask about them tomorrow, if they aren't already resolved when I wake up. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:45, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
I am similarly inclined to question what encyclopedic standard of profession you're invoking and why such a standard would fail to account for products, characters and media existing under multiple names (e.g. literally every reason wikis redirect to begin with). --ExdeathIcon.png Lord G. matters. ExdeathIcon.png 00:49, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
And that doesn't even count that most casual readers won't even care about a redirect - and by the way, Wikipedia, the professional encyclopedia, has more redirects than any other. Redirects help people find specific things, like SMG or SMW. Removing them would simply be a lot of work, and that's not even counting the fact that anyone searching, say, Super Mario Galaxy, would need to know the name exactly to be taken to the page - otherwise, they'd just be taken to the unhelpful search page.
The point I'm trying to make is that deleting all redirects would cause untold amounts of work for the administrative team (especially since there are only five active ones) and force people to wade through numerous links to find what they're looking for.
Removing redirects is, quite simply, a bad idea. TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 10:28, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

Well, then maybe we need more administrative teams and not everyone who removes a redirect is a higher up. Maybe we should remove some. Lord Falafel (talk) 11:00, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

I said that removing redirects is bad for both casual readers and the staff. Removing some is still bad, because this means we're sacrificing ease of access to pages. I recommend reading this handy page. TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 11:05, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

What if I don't like some redirects? Lord Falafel (talk) 11:07, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

That is not at all a good reason to remove redirects. Redirects are only deleted if they're genuinely unhelpful, patent nonsense, or spelling-error redirects. TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 11:10, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
To Alex95 and Lord Grammaticus: On Wikipedia, for example, Template:Super Mario lists the games with their subtitles, as the reader probably knows that the template is about the Super Mario series. Similarly, if someone searched for the recently-created redirect Bros. 2, they would probably be aware that it was a Mario wiki, and would be looking for either Super Mario Bros. 2 or Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, the latter of which is listed as a link in the "About" template at the top. Thinking about this, I decided to make the redirects, but first I did a quick search. Sunshine, Galaxy 2, and Maker were already-existing redirects, so I felt it was good to make Bros. 2, Bros. 3, and Maker 2. In addition, none of these will result in taking someone to the wrong place (the only exception I can think of is The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.)
To Lord Falafel: Redirects aren't unprofessional. You "not liking" them isn't a reason to delete them. You aren't the only user that matters here. Any that exist should be kept, unless they somehow break policy. I side with TheDarkStar in that regard. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 11:15, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
In addition, I'm not the only one who creates redirects, so if you believe something such as "Redirects should be removed", make a proposal or ask Porplemontage, as it isn't only related to my edits. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 11:18, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

I know. But I can't do a proposal. That requires editors to vote. It's a 50-50 chance of the new edit being accepted or declined. If I talk to Steve, he'll give me a definitive answer saying what should be done. Lord Falafel (talk) 11:23, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

That was a suggestion for the future if something like this arises again. You definitely can do a proposal, but if you don't want to somehow, then just go with the second suggestion. If you're saying you don't want to do either because nobody will side with you, it probably isn't a good thing to bring up. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 11:31, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

Family Computer Disk System

All the other games say Disk System. Lord Falafel (talk) 16:02, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

Um... no. None of them do. All of them are listed here. Look at the pages. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 16:32, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

I did and you lied to me. Super Mario Bros. says Disk System. Lord Falafel (talk) 17:43, September 22, 2019 (EDT)

First of all, I wouldn't recommend saying that someone lied to you. It's not very kind. Second, don't say all of them say "Disk System" when only one does. Third, Super Mario Bros. only says it in one instance and should probably be changed too. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 18:33, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
Changed it already. TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 18:38, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
Oh, I meant this. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 18:46, September 22, 2019 (EDT)
But thanks. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 09:00, September 23, 2019 (EDT)

Signature

Hello, just wanted to let you know that if you want to create a custom signature like the one you have right now, you have to create a sig page (User:JoeRunner/sig) and then transclude it in your preferences like this: {{User:JoeRunner/sig}}. Make sure to check the box that says "Treat signature like wikitext", and you're set! This page gives more info on signatures, so I recommend reading it. TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 10:25, September 23, 2019 (EDT)

Cool, thanks. JoeRunner (talk and stuff) 17:54, September 23, 2019 (EDT)

About the Fire proposal

By the way I voted under the wrong header there, so you might want to give that another look. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:13, January 26, 2020 (EST)
