Dear Grandet Omate,

It has come to our attention that you are currently in violation of the userspace policy. Please review the policy and abide by it, or else a warning will be issued. Thank you for your cooperation.

Hello, I've noticed you've been making a large amount of edits to your userpage. Please try to focus on editing mainspace more. Thanks! TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 17:48, July 24, 2019 (EDT)

Categories

Hello, Grandet Omate. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:

Images Audio/video files

When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use:

or

Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing.

Please also note that simply removing uncategorized will not suffice; categories should be added, like this: . Thanks! TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 01:21, August 1, 2019 (EDT)

Warning.svg
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (incorrectly categorizing files) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

You are still doing this. Files should be categorized like this: . TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 01:37, August 1, 2019 (EDT)

Sorry, I didn’t see the message until now. I added the categories to all of the images that other people didn’t add to already. Hopefully I’ll remember this next time I upload. Grandet Omate (talk) 19:11, August 1, 2019 (EDT)

Bringing this up again because you forgot for your last two uploads. You were also missing licenses; when you upload, you must select one (whether it's a game screenshot, DVD cover etc.) from the "Licensing" drop-down menu. Images are also not placed like this on articles; Help:Image and Help:Gallery show you how to place them in thumbnails, frames or galleries. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 20:19, January 8, 2020 (EST)

It's been a while, but please remember the above. You should also be sure to give the files a proper name instead of a string of numbers and letters. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:18, May 25, 2020 (EDT)

You're forgetting to categorise images again. If the subject itself (like the Once Upon a Koopa DVD) doesn't have a category, it should use the most closely associated image category (Category:The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Images). Final reminder, please remember this or you may receive another warning. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:01, June 22, 2020 (EDT)

Lastwarn.svg
This is your last warning. The next time you break the rules in any way, you will be blocked from editing the Super Mario Wiki.
If you feel this last warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

You were just reminded about this. Don't upload without an image category.

You're also seem to be ignoring what I said in the summaries (including when I said the T-Rex image shouldn't be removed outright). I already said these are just thumbnails used by the channel; that doesn't make them "official", nor are they good images for the infobox (since like I also said, they were just random screenshots of the episodes they used for the thumbnails) when the infoboxes already have images that gives a good general idea of the episode's plot. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 23:38, June 22, 2020 (EDT)

Sorry for what I have done. I misunderstood you saying "They're just thumbnails from one of the broadcasters; the box isn't meant to use those, it's just meant to show a fitting image for the ep. If you're going to do one then you'd need to do the rest (a lot of these are just random stills of the eps anyway)" as "Even though they don't fit the purpose of the main image, it would be fine if all of the episodes' main images were like that." As for what Alex said, sometimes when I upload an image, it just spits out gibberish. I know that’s the default title whe you put nothing in, but I do put a descriptive title. It is completely random when this happens, and this has never happened before. I would change the name immediately after, but I do not know how to move articles. I have searched high and low for how, but have found nothing. I would contact someone else, but I am just too shy. As for the category part, that is entirely my fault. I tried to find if the SMBSS image category existed, but couldn’t find anything. This may have to do with images I was looking at being kind of old. I have absolutely no ill intent and hope to stay editing on this wiki. I am sorry for what I have done. Grandet Omate (talk) 01:59, June 23, 2020 (EDT)

Just realized I could find image categories at the top, but I didn’t think of looking here. 😞🤚 Grandet Omate (talk) 02:01, June 23, 2020 (EDT)

List of games

I don't want to get blocked for inappropriate behavior, but why did you remove those games? Human beings including myself worked hard to get that information on that list and then you remove it. Why? I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just asking. Lord Falafel (talk) 20:39, August 1, 2019 (EDT)

My impression was the list was to contain every Mario game where Mario or another Mario franchise character was a Main Character and didn’t have an equal role with MANY others. In games such as Minecraft and Skylanders: SuperChargers, Mario characters don’t appear in the game until you either buy the Mash-Up Pack or scan the Bowser or Donkey Kong Skylander figures respectively. In games like Punch Out, Mario series characters (DK) only make very small appearances, and we have a page for that: List of Mario references in Nintendo video games. Finally, all Game & Watch games without a Mario Character in the title have nothing to do with Mario until most (not all) got a modern version in the Game & Watch gallery series which contained Mario characters as the lead roles. The thing is, that’s it’s own game! The original Game & Watch games are different from Game & Watch Gallery, those are separate remasters with Mario characters. Grandet Omate (talk) 01:07, August 2, 2019 (EDT)

Re: "Why would you source the name when it's used in game?"

It's likely an 'artifact' left over from previous editions of the page, especially if the game was a more recent release at the time, or else placed there by someone who isn't as well-versed in editing. You can probably just remove it without posing a likely-rhetorical question in such a manner - "Name is used in-game" is a much more succinct and less accusatory way of putting it. :V --ExdeathIcon.png Lord G. matters. ExdeathIcon.png 12:23, August 3, 2019 (EDT)

Sorry if I sounded aggressive, I didn’t mean to. I am using “Name is used in-game" now like you suggested I should. Thanks. Grandet Omate (talk) 12:27, August 3, 2019 (EDT)

Honestly, I think it's generally useful to have older references available when the names only show up in-game later (as opposed to in an accompanying product, which is when we do practice leaving references out). For example, having a Super Mario World reference for Jumping Piranha Plant conveys the clear idea that "okay, they used the proper name in other sources at the time so the in-game typo is clearly a mistake in that game's localization." It also prevents giving the reader false impressions like Ptooie Plant being Ptooie's name at the time of Super Mario Bros. 3 due to now being the only name reference left in the article. That, and it just makes it easier to keep track of when and where certain name changes occurred at a glance rather than having to dive into the article, helping to maintain it chronologically rather than having to resort to double-checking via the page history. LinkTheLefty (talk) 22:09, August 3, 2019 (EDT)
That's perfectly fine, thank you for elaborating. Actually makes sense explained that way. --ExdeathIcon.png Lord G. matters. ExdeathIcon.png 22:34, August 3, 2019 (EDT)

One more thing, regarding stuff like this - on the flip side, I don't see any see any place where it says "in-game citations must be removed on sight" and in fact, is declared as an acceptable source given context in policy (note it also states that generally "references should never be removed"). While I'd say that unlockable content is obscure enough, there is another example taken from your own recent edits: you left the game text reference for "Parabiddybud" intact, despite your logic otherwise seemingly suggesting that it should be scrubbed from the wiki, so you must be aware that leaving in-game references out is obfuscating in some cases. I have seen instances of someone slapping a ref needed on an article or even rewriting it because certain in-game references were not properly cited the first time, and while you may not make that mistake, the loss of this information is not how to prevent further instances. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:45, August 4, 2019 (EDT)

Additionally, if you're still intent on doing that, be mindful of leaving around remnants haphazardly: this is one recent example, but others had to be cleaned up. Also, be aware of context. LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:04, August 9, 2019 (EDT)

Broken references

When you're removing references, make sure you remove any other ones that call (reuse) those references as well. i.e. After removing a reference that looks like you must remove the ones that use the same "ref name" too () (see MarioWiki:Citations#Multiple citations of the same source). Otherwise you're leaving broken references at the bottom of the page. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:26, August 16, 2019 (EDT)

You did this again for Origami King. Either remove all the unnecessary ones and re-sort the rest or leave them for someone else to do it, don't go halfway and leave broken references behind. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 00:28, August 18, 2020 (EDT)

They’re not broken I just removed them because the game's been out for over a month (at least for me) Grandet Omate 00:48, August 18, 2020 (EDT)

Yes they are, check the cite errors at the bottom of the page. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 00:55, August 18, 2020 (EDT)
I am removing them, but I do have to ask, what the hell are you talking about? There's no errors at the bottom. Is it because I’m on mobile? They work fine to me. Don't mean to be rude by the way. Grandet Omate 01:00, August 18, 2020 (EDT)
It's your removing certain references that's causing the errors. They're gone now because I reverted the edit but they were visible on desktop and mobile. They're the bolded cite errors under the "References" header. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 01:08, August 18, 2020 (EDT)

Profanity

While you may of seen my response, to prevent incidents like this happening again, it is perfectly fine to swear in your edits, or anywhere else on the wiki, as long as it is not in heavy excess, or directed at other users. To quote MarioWiki:Courtesy: "Swearing at other people is flaming and is unacceptable. The occasional use of profanity is allowed as long as it is not directed at another user, but it should generally be avoided. Similarly, if a user specifically requests that no profanity is used on their talk page, their wishes should be respected. You are free to use profanity in moderation in your own userspace, but if it is decided that you have overstepped the boundaries of good taste, you may be asked to tone it down.". Hey Grandet Omate,

I noticed that you uploaded the current photos for the Mii Outfits in Mario Maker 2. If you want, I have the sprites for all the outfits, but I don't have time to upload them all. Just tell me if you want me toggle them to you.

On the topic of my recent edit and the subsequent removal:

I don't mean to be a bother, I really don't. But to prevent any kind of edit war, I simply need to ask about my edit to Mikhail S. Gorbachev being undone. I understand that the trivia I added has practically no relevance on a Mario wiki, but your reason for undoing such edit, and I quote, "He was a real person" doesn't make sense to me. I hope you understand. - AwdryFan1997(Talk)

I got fed up and I restored my trivia. Please to not make this the beginning of some disgusting edit war. The entire reason I warned you was to prevent said edit warring. - User:AwdryFan1997
I have since been enlightened to the fact that my citation was an unreliable source. If this was your reason, please, let me know. - AwdryFan1997(Talk)

Moving pages

You should never be afraid to ask for help. You're not going to know without asking and no one's going to think negatively of you for doing so; it's how a lot of us (myself included) become more familiar with the wiki's functions. To move an article, you need to switch to desktop mode first (the "Desktop" link at the bottom of the page), then click the "move" tab at the top of the page. You should change the names on the article(s) after you've moved it so there's no confusion for readers.

Remember to also type <references/> when you add a references section. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:16, June 27, 2020 (EDT)

After you move a file, keep in mind that all links to the old file name (listed under "(file redirect)" under "File usage" on the current file page) should be changed to link to the new file name. After that, the old file name should be marked for deletion with delete. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 09:21, June 27, 2020 (EDT)

Yes, please use the what links here tool when you move an article and change all the links to link to the current name. It's best to start with the templates and then work your way to any other pages (sometimes it takes a few moments to catch up). LinkTheLefty (talk) 20:47, July 24, 2020 (EDT)

Just another informal reminder to please make sure you use the "what links here" tool to make sure all the links are current. It's normally up to you to do this after moving the page. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:25, July 25, 2020 (EDT)

After you move a page, check to make sure any redirects to the old name are changed to link to the new name. On Special:WhatLinksHere, you check that by clicking on "Hide links". Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 02:58, July 25, 2020 (EDT)

If you're placing identifiers for both subjects, the based name without the identifier should be changed to a disambiguation page.

You also missed double redirects as I reminded above. Please always check your talk page as soon as you receive a notification as it may be important. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:19, July 26, 2020 (EDT)

Super Show episode titles

Just curious, what's the reason for some of your recent moves? The Netflix listing can be found here and it doesn't align with some of them. LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:28, August 14, 2020 (EDT)

English titles usually all have capital letters for anything that isn't a "small" word (such as "the" or "a"). Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:30, August 14, 2020 (EDT)

They also call the show "Super Mario Bros. super show", so I don't think the titles are accurate. They may not be accounting for proper grammar and are just showing the general copyright (which is just poorly done on their part). Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:37, August 14, 2020 (EDT)
Looks like you dipped, so I'll just say you should revert your changes until you have a more solid source that shows any differences. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:57, August 14, 2020 (EDT)
I moved them back as further investigation on the site showed inconsistency with standard naming schemes, as well as getting some names wrong on occasion. You're not in trouble, but before you start moving pages en masse, you should bring up a discussion first. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:23, August 14, 2020 (EDT)
I think "Butch Mario & the Luigi Kid" was correct judging from Netflix, but otherwise yeah, best stick to official video releases for episode titles. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:25, August 14, 2020 (EDT)
Sorry I was gone, I had to talk to someone. I don't really know the best source. Two of the Netflix episodes have eachother’s titles and descriptions, the SMW episodes by WildBrain have some weird descriptions ("toy bag became you bag", in Party Line there is mention of "Ma Bell", and in Rock TV there are two random quotation marks. The best source would probably be the DVDs/VHSs.

IP and references

Hi there, please ensure to log-in to your account before you start editing. Also, why were these references removed?

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 08:56, August 24, 2020 (EDT)

The reason I removed those references was because usually if a name is used in-game, it doesn’t need a reference. For the IP thing, sometimes when I have poor internet, the page refreshes and I'm logged out. Doesn’t happen always when the page refreshes. There was a big thunderstorm earlier where I live.

Grandet Omate 11:46, August 24, 2020 (EDT)

No worries. The name is a bit more obscure than your average in-game enemy (the MKT name only shows up on the screen for a second when the player happens to destroy it), and one reference was even from a game guide. Please ensure to bring up such changes on the talk page before taking things in your own hands.

"they basically have the same behavior (charging)" That is one very general behavioural similarity. Other than that, they are completely different. The small ones attack in groups, are invincible / cannot be damaged like normal ones and cause an instant Game Over upon contact.

Don't upload .mp3s. Please convert them to .ogas first. They should also be a sample of 30 seconds or less, not the full song. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 01:21, September 12, 2020 (EDT)

I tried uploading ogas before, but they just didn’t play. It came up with an error message saying “No compatible source was found for this media.” Also, I’ve seen songs here WAY longer than 30 seconds (as long as several minutes). If I just use 30 seconds, most of the songs don’t make any sense. Grandet Omate 6:38, September 12, 2020 (EDT)
They play fine, it's most likely your device. And yes, there are many other audio files on the website that should be cut down 30 seconds, but haven't all been done yet since the rule was established. If you're unable to trim the audio, tag it with media-quality, but I would suggest using a device that can play/edit ogas. Regarding the TAOSMB3 songs, if you were to just trim the parts that show the differences between song versions, maybe then it would make sense; otherwise, explaining them via text should be sufficient. Have you tried playing the file through the media file itself? Like, through File:Ambassadors of Funk - Supermario USA.ogg? The coding can get buggy at points, especially if your internet is bad. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 01:39, September 19, 2020 (EDT)

I can play those just fine, as well as most other .oga files. It’s just several in particular that just don’t work at all. All MP3s work fine for me though. Maybe it’s because I’m on mobile? Even switching to desktop mode doesn’t fix it. Grandet Omate 20:45, September 22, 2020 (EDT)
Hm, that's weird. Either way, I'd suggest avoiding removing .oga files from pages since you've had issues with both those and the Super Mario Compact Disco article. For future reference, if you find something broken on the wiki but it works fine for another user, then it's most likely an issue on your end rather than with the content itself and shouldn't be removed. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 20:48, September 22, 2020 (EDT)
By the way, did you read this article? It might help you with your problem. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 18:32, September 25, 2020 (EDT)
I don't know this can help you, but I also had similar problems; apparently the "true" .oga (FLAC format) doesn't work in some browsers (Safari in my case). Only the one which uploaded with the Vorbis format (which would normally converted as an .ogg) that replaced the .ogg postfix with .oga loads correctly in my case. --Template:Color-link-piped (talk) 02:44, October 9, 2020 (EDT)

Could you please provide a reason for why those pages were moved? When moving a page, you should at least fill in the "Reason" field to make clear why you're doing it, rather than simply moving a page without a word. The new name should also be changed on the article and referenced if it's from a lesser-known source. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 00:45, October 25, 2020 (EDT)

I was going to reference the names, but I had to update my phone (hence why I haven’t been able to edit for over an hour). The previous names were mostly only used in the WildBrain YouTube video descriptions (WildBrain is British), while the current names are used on the DVDs, Netflix descriptions, and concept art from the Perry Martin interview. What is the point of this redirect? Just asking. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:14, November 14, 2020 (EST)

It is the title of an official video which contains a clip of the episode. Grandet Omate 01:12, November 14, 2020 (EST)

Re:Super Smash Bros. Melee featured article

Hey, I'm wondering what's the matter with the Melee featured article? Can you elaborate? If you feel like it doesn't meet the requirements anymore, you can always set it up for unfeaturing. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 21:37, November 24, 2020 (EST)

It was just about how none of the moves were updated from the deleted articles and were just left as redirects.

Grandet Omate 21:43, November 24, 2020 (EST)

Ah okay. I think it has some folds and creases, but personally, I don't think it's that bad to be unfeatured. It's a pretty old, untouched article so I'd imagine some of the standards back then didn't hold up. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 21:55, November 24, 2020 (EST)

Please don't remove the links to the other fighters' moves entirely, they should instead be changed so that it goes to the move's section on each fighter's page. A redirect link is more helpful to readers than no link at all. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 22:14, November 24, 2020 (EST)

"Super Mario Bros"

Can you provide a source that "Super Mario Bros" was used to refer to all three cartoons as a whole? --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 15:35, November 28, 2020 (EST)

A little down on this article, sorry. Grandet Omate 15:40, November 28, 2020 (EDT)

That seems like a pretty weak source to be honest, you may want to take this to a proposal before changing it across the wiki. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 15:41, November 28, 2020 (EST)

I'm not seeing anything that uses "Super Mario Bros." as a catch-all term that also includes Super Mario World. I am seeing it, but I'm also seeing "The Super Mario Bros." and "Mario Bros.", and not in reference to the Super Mario World cartoon. If we missed something, please point it out before you continue to make changes. "Super Mario Bros." also doesn't make sense with Super Mario World as it's not part of the title, "DIC cartoons" is more accurate regardless. Yeah I also agree that your source isn't particularly strong. You should have brought it up in the article's talk pages than make these sweeping changes. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 22:45, November 28, 2020 (EST)
The Super Mario World cartoons in the main video list do use the "(Super) Mario Bros" tags, though the tagging for all three cartoons is inconsistent. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 01:14, November 29, 2020 (EST)
