Names in Other Languages

Hello, I noticed you edited many Names in Other Languages sections, particularly Romanian and Dutch names. You have removed some of them, so I'd like to ask if you are sure these names are irrelevant. -Sudowoodo (talk) 08:10, 19 August 2014 (EDT)

Multiple edits

You aren't supposed to do so much edits in a row like you did in Hazy Maze Cave. From now on if you have to edit multiple sections click the edit button at the top and edit them all at once, thanks. Re:Walkazo

Pantaro first posted it here, when I thought it was actually Walkazo posting the edit summary and that. I was taking a break from working with my mods when I first saw it, and I couldn't believe my eyes nor what my mind comprehended when I clicked to see that edit. I really thought Pantaro was a troll or something, but how could trolls access bureaucrat's accounts, as it was posted under Walkazo's name? So I brought it up in Wiki chat and they pretty much confirmed that it was genuine and that Pantaro is her brother. No, I'm not related to Walkazo but yes, her death made me realize how much I really loved and cared about her... BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 15:31, 30 March 2016 (EDT)

I don't mean to be rude but I had a childhood friend who died the exact same way as walkazo and I really don't want to be reminded of her every time I look at the main page, especially since she was also a big mario fan, so if someone could do something about it that would be nice. I have a type of personality disorder which causes me to have emotional stress triggered much more easily than most other people

Uh, sorry, that's not going to change. The only thing I can say right now is to avoid the main page until we finish grieving for Walkazo. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 16:17, 1 April 2016 (EDT)

Re: Username

You'll have to ask Glowsquid (talk) or just post a request on this page. Probably better to go with the second one. - Turboo (talk) 18:52, 26 April 2016 (EDT)

Americas and Oceania

When they said you could change Australia to Oceania but keep North America as-is, they meant to keep North America as-is and not change it to "the Americas." So go ahead and change every release date mention of Australia, but leave America alone, please. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:01, 15 July 2017 (CT)

Ugh, sorry for hurting America! It won't happen again! Gold Luigi (talk) 05:03, 15 July 2017 (EDT)
Thank you. Now it probably will occur that that part will eventually go through, but for now, keep the Americas as-is. Keep up the good work. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:07, 15 July 2017 (CT)

Changing names

Keep in mind that whenever you change the name of a mainspace article, an image, or anything else, you're also responsible for fixing all of the links so that they use the current name rather than the foreign name. For example, everything that links to File:Flag of Europe.png should be changed so that they link to File:Flag of European Union.png. Linking to redirects instead of the direct source is discouraged by policy. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:32, 6 August 2017 (EDT)

Oh my god... this is gonna take forever. Rip me. Can I start tomorrow? Gold Luigi (talk) 17:42, 6 August 2017 (EDT)
Start whenever you're ready, just make sure you get it done. This also goes for File:Flag of HK.png and File:Flag of ROC.png. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:49, 6 August 2017 (EDT)
*sigh* Is there any way to change them all with just one edit? Gold Luigi (talk) 18:04, 6 August 2017 (EDT)
Porplemontage (talk) might get a bot to make all those edits for you if you explain this to him. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:26, 6 August 2017 (EDT)

I was going to give you a spiel about rolling up your sleeves and getting to work, but now that I've looked into it, the issue is a bit more complicated than that. The flags are appearing on pages through the use of Template:Released, and they are called using the names of the files. For example, {{released|Japan|November 1, 2007}} would cause the Japanese flag to appear, as the name of the original image is File:Flag of Japan.png. Since these names are going to be referenced often, they're named in such a way that they're convenient to reference, which is why it's Flag of USA.png and not "Flag of the United States of America.png". With that in mind, it may be best to keep the flags with their original names. Yes, the flag that we're using for "Europe" is really for the European Union, but we've still called it "Europe" because it's more convenient for editors, and those are the people who are going to be using it the most. If you had to type "Hong Kong" on dozens of pages, as you dreaded doing, you'd also prefer having a more convenient alternative, which is why the name of the file is "Flag of HK.png". Your heart's in the right place, but I'd say we should leave things as they were. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:31, 6 August 2017 (EDT)

Yeah, that's what I'm also thinking, but I'm still not sure if they should stay with their original name. I'll let you know if I change my mind. Until then, DO NOT use the new names. Gold Luigi (talk) 18:34, 6 August 2017 (EDT)
After some thinking, I actually decided to change the current names back to their original names. Should I do it, or will you do it for me? And just to let you know, I did those changes on the main page for MK7, so I'm not sure if this changes anything, but if it does, go do the changes there if you want. Gold Luigi (talk) 18:50, 6 August 2017 (EDT)
Actually never mind, I changed them. Gold Luigi (talk) 03:38, 7 August 2017 (EDT)

SMO

The Power Moon color chart already indicates that there are Power Stars in place of Moons in the Mushroom Kingdom. Don't see a reason not to show that the Darker Side's only Power Moon is a Multi Moon. Dark BonesSig.png 18:49, 17 November 2017 (EST)

IQue

Hi. Although I'm not 100% sure these games have been localized by iQue, there is an article on a Chinese website implying that it has been so in general:

这之后,神游彻底放弃了在中国大陆单独发行游戏的计划,转型为任天堂的外包基地,一方面为任天堂在海外发售的港版、台版等游戏做简体中文的本土化及测试工作,扮演“官方汉化组”的角色;另一方面 [...]

After this, iQue completely gave up the plan to release game titles in Mainland China on its own, and instead became an outsourcing base of Nintendo. It began doing Simplified Chinese localization and testing for oversea editions of Nintendo games such as the Hong Kong and Taiwan versions, playing the role of the "official localization group" for Nintendo, while [...]

同其它未在国内上市却拥有简体中文内容的游戏一样,《精灵宝可梦:太阳/月亮》简体中文版的汉化由神游负责。

Pokémon Sun and Moon, like all the games that hadn't been released in [mainland] China but offered Simplified Chinese content, was localized by iQue into Simplified Chinese.

That's what I suppose. User:H.N.K. might know more. --Dine2017 (talk) 07:55, 18 December 2017 (EST)

  • Well, you shouldn't include any Wii games, since they were never translated to Simplified Chinese. You shouldn't also include Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, since these games WERE released in China. Gold Luigi (talk) 08:13, 18 December 2017 (EST)

Reuploading

Most of the time when you upload a new image, you have to refresh the page by pressing Ctrl+F5. The page glitches and shows the previous image revision instead upon uploading, so you have to bypass it.
Additionally, can you upload the legend with the map as well, so people know what the colors mean? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:38, 10 February 2018 (EST)

I'll put the legend in the Summary, so that other people can easily fix typographical and grammatical errors. Also, how should I exactly name it? I don't think people will understand it as "Legend". Gold Luigi (talk) 16:41, 10 February 2018 (EST)
"Legend" or "key" are the usual words to use. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:45, 10 February 2018 (EST)

The latest revision can't be deleted/edited, unfortunately. What you can do, though, is upload it again but with the same summary as when you first uploaded it ("Separated Nintendo Co., Ltd." etc. though you may want to make it shorter to fit the URL), and I can delete the other four revisions. IT'S DONE!!! You can finally delete the other revisions!!! I did make a tiny edit in this new one (I recolored Belize from Grey to Brown); I hope this doesn't affect anything. Gold Luigi (talk) 19:41, 10 February 2018 (EST)

Summary

Please don't flip out in edit summaries. If there's a problem with a user's edits, leave them a message. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:10, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

Sorry

Hey, I saw your message you left me. I honestly wasn't aware of that and just thought people weren't putting their Japanese names because they were being lazy. I only did that because I was trying to be as true to the Japanese names as possible. For example "Bowser Castle 2" IS technically called "Koopa Castle 2" in Japan. "Toad Turnpike" IS technically called "Kinopio Highway", not "Toad Highway". That was my logic is making those changes.

Sorry for inconveniencing you. I was only trying to help and simply didn't know about this unspoken rule. I don't think you needed to get as mad as you did over my edits, as pointed out by the above post by Mario_jc. I also wouldn't say that "we all know" what Mario characters Japanese names are. But anyways, from now on I'll keep the localized name for characters when adding different language names (that aren't the characters main page obviously). Thanks for fixing all of those mistakes for me though. I appreciate that. It won't happen again.Weegeechan (talk) 18:48, 28 August 2018 (EDT)

It's OK, don't worry. Everyone makes mistakes. And don't forget that other characters also have different names in languages other than English and Japanese/Korean/Chinese; Dry Bones for example is called "Huesitos" in Spanish-speaking regions, and "Knochentrocken" in German-speaking regions (don't forget that Austria and Switzerland also speak German too, and that this is also Austria's sole language!), so if one were to translate Bone-Dry Dunes' Spanish and German names (see the "Names in other languages" section of this track), then it would be called "Huesitos Dunes" and "Knochentrocken Dunes" respectively, regardless if people use these kinds of names or not. Same case with Shy Guy, Rosalina, and all other characters that have different names in different languages. Gold Luigi (talk) 03:01, 29 August 2018 (EDT)
Oh, and don't forget than in case a certain character has different names between the American and European versions in English (like Koopa Kid), then use the American name, but you should also note that they have a different European name.

Wario Stadium

I'd like to know more about this removal, as you've removed it twice now, the first time without a reason. Just because it hasn't appeared as a Retro Course doesn't mean it doesn't have other names elsewhere. Mario Kart 64 was released in other regions. Explain? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 09:32, 3 September 2018 (EDT)

Well, as far as I know, MK64 only supports Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese (I totally forgot about Simplified Chinese lol). I haven't seen other languages for the game, and if it does support other languages, then I don't know how I can change the in-game language. I have it only on VC, and played it exclusively in English, plus changing the system language doesn't change the game's language, so I don't know if it has other languages. Gold Luigi (talk) 11:40, 3 September 2018 (EDT)
Just because you can't access other languages doesn't mean they don't exist. I don't think changing the system language will effect an English-released game on VC. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:42, 3 September 2018 (EDT)
To be honest, besides the languages mentioned before, I think that the other language options this game offers are French, German, Spanish, and Italian (or maybe only the 2 former, as in SM64). But I'm still not sure. If you know how you can change the in-game language of MK64, tell me! Don't keep it like a secret! I tried searching on YouTube, but no luck! Gold Luigi (talk) 14:16, 3 September 2018 (EDT)
I don't know, but we have people from around the world here. Perhaps you could try asking around on the forums! Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:34, 3 September 2018 (EDT)

Removing information

You seem to constantly be removing valid information without explanation. Please do explain beforehand. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 06:11, October 24, 2019 (EDT)

"Vandalism"

Per my summary here. A quick look at the user's edits would tell you they've been making legitimate edits (most of which are on the same game) since that last warning, so they'd have no reason to vandalise a page and so there's no reason you should be holding an old offense against them and immediately judging the edit as vandalism based on that. If you're concerned about the validity of something, aside from verifying it first-hand, the best thing to do would be to ask the user first. This is the sort of matter that if repeated can earn you a warning, so please be more careful. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 05:38, March 6, 2020 (EST)
